Thoughts on Inauguration Day

I just arrived home after driving Ben to school.
I spent most of the morning on the internet, live blogging the Inauguration and reading various pundits and blogs.
As I drove Ben to school I saw several people had put out American Flags on their homes or businesses. I did the same this morning, shortly after President Obama took his oath. I took the above picture moments after putting up our flag.
I put out my flag because I am an American Patriot who loves my country, my freedom, and the greatestf blessing of all, my citizenship in these United States of America.
As I drove through the neighborhood that is right next to my sons charter school, I saw an older black gentleman out working in front of his home. He had put american flags all over his car and proudly displayed one on his home. As I drove by I gave him a hearty thumbs up and smiled and he smiled in return and gave me a thumbs up right back.
I understand his enthusiasm and pride and wanted him to know that I shared his joy that America has mostly overcome our flawed history of bigotry and racism.
It was the best moment of my day so far.
While I am completely dismayed by President Obamas moral flaws and his collectivist soul, I do celebrate with my black sisters and brothers this significant day in our history for the obvious reason of it simply being a milestone in our history.
As for my serious objections to the policies and worldview of the President, I will write with every bit of passion I am capable of every time a bit of individual liberty is thrust aside for the so called collective good of the country.
I pray that Heaven’s Grace will be with our people these next four years.
