My only real question about this story is,
Â
What is the definition of “Being Prepped for Childbirth”?
Â
“Hermanstorfer, 33, was being prepped for childbirth at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs Thursday morning. Her 37-year-old husband was by her side when she began to feel sleepy and lay back in her bed.”
Â
Was she being induced?
Â
Did anyone give her an epidural?
Â
Had she been suffering from Toxemia?
Â
It seems to me the reporters are suffering from a lack of curiousity about what was happening to this mother and her baby as she was being “prepared”.
Â
Nature has a variety of useful preparations that take place in mothers during the days leading up to the birth. For my own births I had days and days of pre-labor contractions that softened the cervix and helped my uterus to prepare for the work of childbirth. I also experienced many of the common pregnancy aches as my pelvis stretched and my ligaments softened up.
Â
Yet this mother and her son Died! This story is screaming bad reaction to the drugs she was being administered, and yet I have not found any information about that in the news. I guess I am going to have to give her a call.
