C-Span is providing coverage of the National Tea Party Convention this week!

C-Span has been covering the teaparty

and today on Washington Journal they had a show debating the various sides to the movement.  I completely agree with and endorse the teaparty movement at all levels of our society, both local and national.

As a local organizer I am thrilled that some stepped up to take it to the next level nationally.

While I don’t want any politician grabbing the movement and declaring themselves head of it, I believe Sarah Palin and Alan Keyes typify the types of Politicians whose spirit and loyalty to liberty make them the defacto ideological leaders.  Joseph Farrah keynoting also sends a great message.  As the editor of World Net Daily, his clarity and focus on Constitutional Principles that daily grace the pages of World Net Daily give him tremendous street cred as a Conservative.

Some local teaparty organizers have distanced themselves from the national movement.

I won’t do that because I understand that grass roots activism is messy and disorganized.  Everyone has an opinion on how things should be run, what should be the focus, and how to best set up and run an event.  It was for those reasons that I took on the 9-12 evening teaparty last year.  I did not like the way the other teaparties had been planned, so I figured it was time to stop judging and complaining in my own heart and just organize the event that I wanted to see happen.

For me it was not about numbers or promoting a particular politician or party.  It was about the Constitutional Rule of Law and Founding Principles.  So I partnered with those who felt the same way and we organized the Denver Evening Constitution Teaparty and Candlelight Vigil for Freedom.  This event was a Celebration of the Constitution.

C-Span coverage will be all weekend, with Sarah Palins Keynote on saturday night.

C-Span coverage starts tonight at 9pm eastern live from the teaparty national convention
