Thoughts on a passing scene…

Today Is my first week of school, first full week.  It feels so odd to be in class with dozens of people in their twenties.

I remember when I was at BYU the random older adults who attended class.  I became friends with a woman in one of my classes who was a grandma, and remember some nice chats with her as we studied together.

I am not really looking to make friends, just up the quality of the music I sing, but it is interesting to be on a campus surrounded by all of the young adults the same age as my three oldest children.

I have been spending quite a bit of time reading through the various synopsis and commentary around the DNC and RNC.  I am friends with several activists who attended the RNC as Delegates and was revolted by what happened to the Ron Paul delegates in regards to rules changes and how they have now set things up for less grass roots participation in the future.  NOT surprised something like this happened, I have hated the RNC since they treated Alan Keyes so shabbily back in the day.

Watch this video to understand the whole story:

As I have participated in political chats with friends on Facebook and with my husband and children at home, I feel torn.

Many longtime blog readers know that I was very involved in the Tea Parties that were organized during the early days of the Obama Presidency.

In fact, I put together a Documentary from the video and audio footage that resulted from all of the events I either organized or attended.

I also gave the opening speech at the first Denver Tea Party in Feb of 2009.

On my Twitter Feed I share some of the articles that shape my views.  I don’t link to all of what I read, because I spend quite a bit of time reading thoughts from all over the political spectrum, and some of the commentary and opinion is simply trash and pointless to promote.  But the thoughtfully written stuff I send to my twitter feed so I can share some of what I am reading.

Basically I believe the American People are going to experience the big time Medical Screw Over with Romney and Ryan as Prez and VP.

I hope that Obamas Presidency has educated my activist friends on the left how pointless it is to believe that anything significant will ever change in terms of the control the Medical Powers that be hold sway over.  The Drug Companies own the political process and the Media and they fully intend to turn the American People more fully into Medical Slaves, with or without Obamacare in place.

With the laws regarding Forced Vaccines as well as the overpowering control the Medicos hold over Childbirth, I see more of the same, with more Midwives locked up, parents bullied, and children intoxicated by the slurry of toxins tied to the whole cradle to grave American Health Care system.

I will keep linking on Facebook, teaching childbirth, blogging, making movies, interviewing the movers and shakers of the Birth Freedom Movement on my radio show, and teaching everyone within my sphere of influence the truth about birth and babies.

But it is a very small group of parents who are interested in learning the truth.  And I predict the next twenty years are going to look rather bleak for the Average American Family in regards to the health and well being of their children.

Oh well, we all have to live and learn.

I plan to sing my way through it all and hope and pray for the health of my grandchildren…

Yet another game of soccer…

It was very hot and sunny on the soccer field yesterday and we all got fried…Bens team won 4-3. He started out playing goalie…

And he made one of the four goals.

Allison made Ben a Hat Trick hat last year when he made three goals

during one game.
Her teamates on the Varsity Peak to Peak team made
her one when she made three goals in one game
and they pulled out these hats to wear to the game.

Ben has come along way since these early days playing soccer!

Happy Birthday Andy!

Andrew just turned sixteen years old a few minutes ago…

Here is a little You Tube Video I put together:

When I ponder on the life of this son of mine, a welling of gratitude and love for this person in my life just overwhelms my heart.

We both almost died during his difficult birth, and for sixteen healthy years of life I must publicly thank my Father in Heaven for giving us the gift of life together rather than one or both of us up in heaven.

More than specific incidents or memories, what I think of most when Andrew comes to mind is various emotions tied to his personality.

A quiet but sometimes wickedly funny sense of humor.

Intellect beyond his years tied to an insatiable allegiance to good books. In fact this morning Jeff gave him a hardback book for his birthday present and Andy yelled, “Score!”. He has asked for books for presents since before he was in his teens and his bookworm of a Mom was only too happy to comply.

Andy taught himself to play the guitar, and he is quite good, although still shy about sharing his talents with anyone outside of his bedroom.

Andy, Jeff, and I took a road trip to Montana to see the sights and it was the most enjoyable one I have ever been on. I figured something right is going on in my sons lives when we listened to all five sessions of General Conference on the drive home, per their request. This was to balance The delight we all experienced when driving through Yellowstone blasting the rock bands Kansas, Chicago, Rush, and a few more modern bands that I have never heard of.

Andy was the only family member to accompany me to the Denver Tea Party that I organized in 2009. He helped me unload the car, set up, and then sat on the capitol steps with me in the rain while a 68 minute recording of the Constitution blasted over the sound system I had rented. He helped me load up after the party was over five hours later and we drove home shivering in the cold and rain. He never complained and was a rock of support when I needed him most, even though he was only thirteen at the time.

One night late in my pregnancy with him Paul woke up and said the baby was to be named Andrew Conrad after his great grandfather and grandfather Hatch. Both of these men were spiritual giants, and it is my prayer that Andy will follow in their footsteps.

When he was a little boy he told me every day how much he loved me, and would pick any flowers he could find outside to give to me, and he would color pictures of flowers and write I love Mom on them.

I really don’t know what I did to deserve someone like him in my life, but he has been such a steadying and calm peacemaker in our home, the type of child every mother dreams of having.

I pray that he can find his footing here in Utah, make as wonderful of friends as he had in Colorado and simply move forward into a happy adult life.

I love you Andrew!

Music, Music, Music…

In the past month I joined yet another choir, making it a total of three that I am singing in. Paul also joined a mens chorus and has been performing around town already. I had my first big concert this past tuesday and was pleased to sing several solos. It is so fun to be using my voice again in a real way and I feel like this is just the beginning. I enrolled in the local university as a music major, although I need to audition before I am officially in the program. I hope to do that sometime in the next year or two. I am not in any rush to finish my degree, but it feels really good to be making these first little baby steps towards completion of something I started in 1986 at BYU.

Here are quite a few videos and photos from the past few weeks, I have been too busy to blog, but hope to get a rhythm going with my days and carve out a few minutes to share.

One of the big decisions that I made in taking my singing more seriously was to go completely vegan with my eating. I have been planning to do this for years, but to have made the final decision was a big step for me. I sing so much better when I am not eating any dairy products and to have made this determination was an important milestone. I am still cooking animal foods for the family, but I have made the jump to grains and beans and it feels right for me at this time.

Here are the videos:

Pauls Outdoor Concert with Master Singers:

Ben had another soccer game last night and he set the goal to get another Hat Trick. By the end of the game he had his determined face on and just went for it and made this third goal…

Here are a few clips from my concert on Tuesday Night. We sang a medley of music from the Mary Poppins Broadway show – 18 minutes long, and I was the main soloist.

I also had a small solo in this song from South Pacific, I’m gonna wash that man right outta my hair!

And we sang a lovely SSA version of Danny Boy with Flute Accom.

I am auditioning for Ms. Hannigan for a local production of Annie next week and hope to sing in the chorus of the Messiah that will be performed during the holiday season here in town.  There are so many cultural offerings in this little place, it boggles the mind, but I feel so blessed to be able to be a part of it all.
