Chinese hiding three million babies a year

As many as three million Chinese babies are hidden by their parents every year in order to get around the country’s one-child policy, a researcher has discovered.

“I am the biggest offender against the one-child policy in China!” laughed Fu Yang, a wiry and energetic 47-year-old man, as he fidgeted and poured tea. “I had seven daughters in just ten years.”
Mr Fu and his rather more reserved wife are among the millions of Chinese parents who risk threats, fines and even imprisonment in order to defy the country’s one-child policy. The couple, who now live a prosperous life in a small village outside the southern city of Xiamen, have had to flee across three provinces and hide their children with friends in the past.
“…As soon as each of our daughters had finished breast-feeding, we sent her out to live with a friend or a relative,” said Mr Fu. “They went to school, but without the proper papers,” he added. “At the time, the family planning authorities were being very strict and they were arresting people if they went over the limit,” he said.
“But in Guangdong, I had a friend who was a gangster. We went together to the hospital and forced a doctor to issue my wife a certificate saying she had been sterilised. That way, when the authorities came around, we could show them our documents. They had to be real though, because the officials often cross-checked to make sure.”
Existing in a grey area of Chinese law does not seem to have damaged the prospects for Mr Fu’s children. Three of his eldest five daughters are even Communist party members, while the other two remain in school. One daughter is studying a postgraduate law degree in Beijing while another is likely to take over from him as the head of the family business.”

I would have a very difficult time living this law.  Although I belong to a faith that believes in abiding by the laws of the land, I tend to think that I would be hiding my children too…

Joseph Farah: Hijacking the tea party

The tea-party movement is only about two years old, but, because of its potency, there have already been many attempts to hijack it.

“From politicians trying to resurrect their careers to media activists trying to establish careers, there is a temptation to think of the tea-party movement as cattle or sheep that can be herded in any direction with skillful manipulation.

I don’t believe that’s true.

I hope it’s not true.

The tea-party movement is so important to the future of the country precisely because it is an amorphous, grass-roots uprising – called not by leadership but by national crisis and necessity.

…I’m honored that the Tea Party Nation chose me to be a keynote speaker at its first national convention in Nashville earlier this year. And I am honored that it chose me to be a keynote speaker at its second national convention in Las Vegas next month.

I hope you will join us there as we prepare for the most important midterm election in our nation’s history – a pivotal vote that will determine whether the United States of America will continue to be the shining city on a hill, a beacon of freedom and justice throughout the world.

Pray that God smiles on America this year.

Pray that God smiles on the tea-party movement and uses it mightily.

Pray that God confuses the minds of all those who would use this movement for their own self-aggrandizement.

Pray that the tea-party movement does not get hijacked by those who would turn it into a strictly materialistic endeavor devoid of God’s real concerns for the nation.

Pray for unity and success for the tea-party movement.”

WND: The Pill Kills

Dangers from birth control range from environmental damage to fatalities

“It’s one of the most commonly prescribed pills in America today, but as the source of problems ranging from environmental damage to death, “the pill,” or birth controlprescription, is being targeted by a long list of protests this week.

In an effort called The Pill Kills that is being organized by the American Life League and others, a headline protest is being organized outside a Planned Parenthood abortion business in Washington on Saturday.

“…It’s about time women were made aware that the birth control they are taking could have negative consequences on their health and on the environment,” said Judie Brown, co-founder of ALL. “They deserve the truth – regardless of political pressure to conceal it.”

“It is truly hard to believe that those concerned with the environment in which we live are not equally concerned about the environment of a woman’s body, polluted as it is with artificial chemicals that are really nothing more than recreational drugs,” Brown said.

There have been an estimated 25,000 lawsuits over the product, and officials believe some 12 million American women take it. But the Mayo Clinic, ALL confirms, warns birth control use is one of the contributing factors for pulmonary embolism and blood clots and the pills are considered a carcinogen alongside cigarettes.”
