Sunday School Lesson 3: The Fall of Adam and Eve

I teach the 12-13 year old sunday school class. We have a large group of tweens in our ward and I consider it a blessing to spend an hour with them each week.
Here is the text for the lesson I am preparing to teach tomorow at church:
The Fall of Adam and Eve
Note to the teacher
The decision of Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruit was not a sin, as it is sometimes considered by other Christian churches. It was a transgression—an act that was formally prohibited but not inherently wrong (see Dallin H. Oaks, in Conference Report, Oct. 1993, 98; or Ensign, Nov. 1993, 73). The Fall was necessary for us to progress toward exaltation. We have to experience mortality to become like our Father in Heaven, and Adam and Eve fulfilled their mission to make this possible. Help class members appreciate that the Fall of Adam and Eve enabled each of us to receive a body and come to earth to gain experience in choosing between good and evil.
Suggested Lesson Development
The Callings of Adam and Eve
Discussion
• Imagine you were given the opportunity to live in a world where sickness, sorrow, sin, pain, and death were unknown. Would you like to live in such a world?
Point out that when Adam and Eve were first placed on the earth, they lived in such a world. In the Garden of Eden there was no sorrow, pain, or death. However, Adam and Eve made a choice they knew would require them to leave the Garden of Eden. (Display the picture of Adam and Eve leaving the garden.) This lesson will discuss why they made that choice and how their choice has affected all of us.
Explain that Adam and Eve were chosen in the premortal life for a special mission.•
What was their mission?
Why were they chosen to do this?
Help class members realize that Adam and Eve were chosen to be the first people on earth because of their faithfulness. They were among the “noble and great” of our Heavenly Father’s children (see Abraham 3:22). Adam (then known by the name of Michael) helped create the world and was one of those who led the righteous spirits to victory in the war against the rebellious Lucifer.
The Fall
Scripture discussion
• What commandments did God give Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden?
Have class members read Genesis 1:28 (or Moses 2:28) and Genesis 2:16–17 (or Moses 3:16–17) to discover two commandments given to Adam and Eve by Heavenly Father: to multiply and replenish (fill) the earth and to refrain from eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

More Media Coverage of The Business of Being Born!!!

Newsweek (Includes three video clips from the documentary)
People Magazine
and last night Ricki was on Larry King Live. I was able to watch it and really thought she did an exceptional job outlining the parameters of what women are going through while they give birth in America.
Rixa has the transcript on her blog: Go Here

Capricious Convert
Edwards’s breathtaking mind-changing.
I know many of my homebirth friends find it impossible to believe that I am a NEO-Conservative who is a strong Romney supporter.
I know that many of you feel comfortable voting for John Edwards because he is so willing to “stand up to the Big Pharma Companies”.
As Mr. Krauthammer so devastatingly notes in this piece, John Edwards has no moral compass with which to keep him steady. His breathtaking flips and flops makes Romneys political evolution towards conservatism (Which MOST conservatives experience as they mature), makes him look like the weeble of the bunch.

“Weebles wooble, but they don’t fall down!”
One of the biggest problems I have with John Edwards and Bill and Hillary Clinton is the tendency to lie, about…well….EVERYTHING. Barack Obama, although a socialist in word and deed, strikes me as an honest person, and I hope he is the democratic nominee.
I am much more comfortable with A Mitt Romney as president, who, even though he publicly supports and endorses Big Pharma, is an honest man. And I feel safer with an honest person at the helm of our country than a Fraud like Hillary Clinton. Romney also has a profound understanding of Economics and Capitalism, and is going to fight the War on Terror with wisdom. He has a complete understanding of the job he will have as Commander in Chief of the military.
I am not Anti-Pharma.
I have deadly allergies and MANY times my life has been saved by chemicals. I keep my epi pen and inhaler in my purse at all times, and I am grateful that my life has been extended over and over by these life saving chemicals.
That being said, I believe the psychiatric drug industry/infrastructure needs a complete and utter overhaul and I have major issues with the Birth Industry. And I believe consumers should be given complete informed consent by the medical people before they use any drug or have any procedure done. I also have serious issues with forced vaccinations and the bullying parents experience to use allopathic drugs and surgery when children are ill. I also hate that so many American Tax dollars back up this one form of healing when a whole world of wellness is out there for us to experience in the form of chiropractic, homeopathy, herbs, vitamins, nutrition, massage, etc etc..
The democrats want to nationalize the whole allopathic mess and I believe that would be a tragic mistake. It would legitimize drugs and surgery as the ONLY form of healing available to the American consumer and ensure this medical monopoly for generations to come.
I believe the answer for our society is to privatize the whole big health care mess and let the market decide which forms of healing will stay and which will go.
Ron Paul had an interesting say on this topic recently, Rixa Freeze, again, had this on her blog this morning. Ron Paul on licensure of midwives.
QUOTE:
Presidential Candidate Ron Pal discusses health care licensing.
Some of his main points:
licensing is a monopoly; it keeps other people from competing.
licensing is better than prohibition, but the ideal is that people make up their own minds.
I’m not in favor of government prohibiting people from making private choices. I might have a medical opinion, but politically people should make their own choices.
I wonder what Dr. Paul, who is an obstetrician, would think of Unassisted Childbirth???

First They Came for Piglet
One of Steyns best:
QUOTES:

“The British home secretary would respond that not all moderate imams are as gung-ho to detonate moppets. Which is true. But, by insisting on re-labeling terrorism committed by Muslims in the name of Islam as “anti-Islamic activity,” Her Majesty’s government is engaging not merely in Orwellian Newspeak but in self-defeating Orwellian Newspeak. The broader message it sends is that ours is a weak culture so unconfident and insecure that if you bomb us and kill us our first urge is to find a way to flatter and apologize to you.”

“This is now a recurring theme in British life. A while back, it was a local government council telling workers not to have knick-knacks on their desks representing Winnie-the-Pooh’s porcine sidekick, Piglet. As Martin Niemöller famously said, first they came for Piglet and I did not speak out because I was not a Disney character and, if I was, I’m more of an Eeyore. So then they came for the Three Little Pigs, and Babe, and by the time I realized my country had turned into a 24/7 Looney Tunes it was too late, because there was no Porky Pig to stammer “Th-th-th-that’s all, folks!” and bring the nightmare to an end.”

7-year plan aligns U.S. with Europe’s economy
Rules, regs to be integrated without congressional review
It is the American Constitution, the Rule of Law, and the Sovereignty of the American People that keeps the world socialist billionaire boys club from coming into our homes to steal all of our money, tell us how many children we can have, and deprive us of our rights of self determination.
This move to world government should be fought with everything we’ve got people, or one day a social worker from the World Nanny Socialist Party will be showing up at your door to register your children and “educate” you about the new rules to govern your life.
