Dymaxion World Blog: This sounds dangerous

This sounds dangerous
Yet another commenter at this blog calling for our heads on a plate: (or at least our children taken away)

“For that reason, I think anyone that prefers any type of home-birth is somewhat crazy. Unassisted home birth? The state should take away the kids and give them to parents with a clue. That’s just irresponsible and needlessly endangering lives.”

Of course this lady, closet liberal, said that she had two babes born by emergency c-section.

Midwife-Assisted Homebirth? Wussy.
Kelly Mills said:
“In any event, I don’t really care that much if someone wants to give birth without a doctor, as long as I don’t have to help. But as someone who imagined this natural birth and in retrospect wishes she got the epidural on arrival, I’m so not in the “beautiful, natural, just do that special breathing and find your woman-power” camp. I like doctors. I like midwives. I even like western medicine, especially when it can prevent lots of suffering and agony. And I don’t think the fact that my birthin’ crazy-insane hurt was in the least bit empowering. I was really grateful to the anesthesiologist after he gave me the epidural. Next time my wonderful doctor can chloroform me in the hospital like they used to do in the old days.”
She may have been “really grateful” but her child may have had issues with that choice.
I think the main reason a mother should not have an epidural is so that she can kick her doctor in the head if he tries to give her an episiotomy.
But hey, to each his own….right?

Blogger Veronika Sophia Robinson chimes in on Freebirth

Freebirth!

I am firmly in the pro-freebirth camp. (Freebirth was a term coined by the late, great Jeannine Parvati Baker). And for the record it IS legal in the UK. Just because the vast majority of professionals in the birthing field and social workers are unaware of it, doesn’t mean it’s not true! What the law states is that someone not trained in birth ‘care’ can not ‘deliver’ the baby. The mother has every right to birth her own baby without assistance or supervision.

At The Mother magazine our ethos regarding birth is that we don’t wish to perpetuate the belief that birth is ‘dangerous or painful’, but rather, that birth can be beautiful, ecstatic and indeed, orgasmic, just as nature intended.”

Has an anonymous person ever been more quoted in the Media?

Not since the infamous Deep Throat of the Nixon days has an anonymous person been so dutifully quoted by the press.
Dr. Crippen is being quoted on blogs, in the newspapers, on the television, and in the sacred halls of obstetrics societies as if he was God Himself.
I wonder when he is going to come out of the closet and tell us who he really is. And have the courage of his convictions to stand by his calls for parents to be put in prison if a husband/wife home birth goes bad.
‘Freebirthers’ have babies with no medical help

“Dr Crippen, a British National Health Service doctor who writes an award-winning blog on the Internet, has reacted angrily to growing interest in freebirth, saying babies born this way should have a right to legal recourse later in life.

He says “giving birth is the most dangerous thing that most woman will do during their life,” and argues:

“Does a mother not owe a duty of care to her baby? Should a mother not take reasonable care to protect the baby when she gives birth? And if she does not take reasonable care — and the standard should be objective not subjective — why should a baby who has sustained avoidable brain damage due to the mother’s negligence not take action against his mother?”

If a baby were to die during a freebirth, Dr Crippen argues the mother should be prosecuted for manslaughter.”

I must have read this quote a hundred times in the past month, and it keeps getting thrown around like it actually has some weight as an argument against freebirth.
I wonder if the reporters even know that he is some ANONYMOUS dude blogging about the dangers and incompetence of the UK’s socialistic health system that we here in America think will save us from certain death and disability.
It cracks me up watching how lemming like the media is, jumping on the bandwagon….without really understanding the facts of the matter.
Anyway, I don’t think he should be given as much weight as say The Royal College in the UK or sogc in Canada but it is funny how he keeps being quoted like he has written scripture.
I know the dudes from ACOG are probably out golfing and are not aware that a debate is raging about freebirth in the sphere, but I can’t wait for them to send down their little proclamation from on high. I wonder who they will get to write it? Dr. Amy comes to mind. She is just so smart and so educated with the facts of birth. And such a good writer. Yeah, docs she is the one (or should I say seven big pharma shills) writing under her pseudonym Tutor. Sent out into the blogosphere to perform her sock puppetry for and in behalf of the drug companies. What a gal! We still have yet to see a picture of her or her credentials posted on youtube. Dr. Amy, Paging Dr. Amy…..where are YOU???
Come on ACOG, times a wastin’. Time for ya’ll to jump on the anti-freebirth bandwagon.

Big Blue Wave
My Comment:
She said:

“But if there is harm to the baby, then I think there should be some kind of recourse. Why should the baby suffer because of the mother’s negligence?”

And I replied:
I totally agree.
If a mother chooses to give birth by c-section without medical cause and the baby dies, I think she should be sued, thrown in prison for manslaughter, and the doctor put on display in stocks in the town square and publicly humiliated for his refusal to educate his patient with the facts about how dangerous elective cesareans are.
And if a father chooses to support his wife having an elective c-section and the baby or mother dies that should disqualify him as a fit parent. All children belonging to said couple should be put in foster care and the Father should be tried in court for crimes against humanity.
All forms of media should be used to expose this ignorant, deadly choice in childbirth for what it truly is, and all birthing professionals who advocate it AND DO IT, should be forced into re-education camps to teach them the facts about childbirth.
I’m only being partially sarcastic.
