Another email from the Communists at ANSWER

I just received another email from the Communist Front Gourp ANSWER which is organizing the anti-war rally this saturday at the Pentagon.
It said:
“Dear Jenny

Next Saturday, March 17, tens of thousands of people like you will be marching on the Pentagon to say no to the illegal war and occupation of Iraq. Bush’s escalation of the war will only bring more death and misery to the people of Iraq and increase the number of casualties among U.S. soldiers. We will be marching on the Pentagon because the bloated military war budget will exceed $590 billion, while 47 million people in this country are without health care coverage and one out of four children is born into extreme poverty.”

These people really don’t get that they in fact are the ones who encourage and give aid and comfort to our enemies in this war. They have so much blood on their hands.
I will be in Denver this saturday demonstrating against them.
Will you join me?

My Triplets Were Inseparable, Whatever the Risks

My Triplets Were Inseparable, Whatever the Risks

“FOR the first month, their bedroom, with all the wires and machines, would look more like an extension of the intensive care unit than a home nursery. Endless visits to the pediatrician, ophthalmologist, cardiologist, gastroenterologist and neurologist would fill the boys’ first calendar year.

But with a good insurance plan and Medicaid’s coverage for babies under 2 pounds 10 ounces, we were relieved that we did not have to pay the million-dollar hospital bill. This was not the time to pontificate on how our quest to have a family resulted in a significant financial drain on society’s resources, though that knowledge has weighed on me.

What hasn’t weighed on me, as our boys have grown healthier and bigger (they’re now 4 and thriving in preschool) is our decision not to reduce. I often look at them and ask myself that impossible question: Which one wouldn’t be here?

But I feel no righteousness about our choice, only luck. Time and again I run into mothers at the playground with twins who notice my triplets (it’s hard not to) and gently ask whether I faced that decision, only to then confess their deep guilt at having reduced from triplets themselves.

“Look, don’t,” I tell them. “We could have lost all of ours. We almost did.”

Almost.”

Susanne M. Sanchez lives in Hollywood, Fla.
I appreciate Mrs. Sanchez’s insights and story. Yet I have to think about the story of the mother who gave birth to triplets that is outlined in the Book Having Twins by Elizabeth Noble
The mother in that story used midwives and had a home birth. Every night her husband would pack her some fruit and turkey by her bed, and she ate and ate and ate the Brewer diet, which is basically a 170 gram protein a day diet, for each additional baby you add 20 grams of protein and 500 calories for higher order multiples. The mother in that story carried her three babies to term and gave birth to them at home.
I would challenge any mother reading this to seriously consider investing in the Noble twins book and start now, before you even get pregnant, to train your body to digest all that protein. It takes time and the wrong time to start is when you are six weeks pregnant, however, any efforts that can be made to increase calories and protein will help those babies.

HuffPo: Lawrence Wright Interview

Stage Wright: His Trip To Al Qaeda, And Why Lawrence Wright Is Still Very, Very Scared

“But I was for the most part seen as someone that was trying to get at the truth, and even though there were oftentimes such enormous divides that it seemed like there’d be nothing — I mean, the last day in Egypt, I had an argument with Esam El-Arian, who was one of the Muslim Brothers’ head chiefs, and he had just gotten out of prison, and he and I had a really noisy argument. I just had it.

I was just fed up at that point with the Islamist bulls***. And I was just not in the mood to brook anymore of it, so we really had a very ugly argument. And he’s one of the better people in the Muslim Brothers; it could be that he’s someone that we could look to work with [trying] to establish democracy in Egypt. But it’s just sometimes there’s just no common ground, and it’s hard to pretend that there is.”

I thought it was an interesting read, this interview, and appreciated his insights. To say that we have no common ground with our Islamic brothers and sisters is the BS though, in my opinion. We are all members of the human family, with God as our father. We all have the same air that we breathe and the same water and food necessary for life. The hopelessness he expressed during this interview, that we would be attacked again, that our intelligence is so flawed it is worse than before 9-11, these are serious charges and imply a hand wringing futuilty about the spread of Democracy in our world.
I am much more optimistic about the spread of democracy in the middle east than this man who just spent five years talking to islamic terrorists. But I suppose if I had spent a couple years talking with murderers and thugs, that would be my take on things too.
His video on Osama contains fascinating insights to the mind of the top terrorist and his followers…
“No, Humiliation is a choice, the humiliated have a moral license to regain their dignity, they are entitled to hate and hatred is delicious, the most narcotic emotion. The truth is, humiliation sells.”
I appreciate the fact that this man went and conducted the interviews, talked, wrote, and has now published and is promoting his insights. His voice needs to be heard. Wether the democritization of the middle east takes ten years, or ten decades, the fact is that the steps taken these past four years during the war are having a positive effect overall and will mark the turning point towards democracy wether or not journalists like Mr. Wright can see it or not.
Will we get hit again on American soil by terrorists? Probably. But this does not mean that Iraqs first toddling steps towards freedom have been a mistake or in vain. The American Experiment tooks decades to gel and we had our own fights and “one step forward, one step back” moments when it would have been easy to disband the Federal Government and break apart into individual states and mob rule.
A Constitutional Representative Republic only works with a moral and honest people. I have moments of wondering how much longer our own republic will stand, when I consider the moral rot that underpines our people. I figure the best thing I can do for my country is to be a moral person myself, and try to teach my own family and those in my sphere of influence moral principles and hope that they then choose the right.

Chatauqua Park in Boulder

Paul and I took Ben, Jeff and our Puppy up to the mountains today for some fresh air and sunshine. I took a bunch of pictures, and this little movie:

We found the first flowers of the season while hiking around Chatauqua Park:

Paul took the day off, and Jeff was home from school because he was not feeling well. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and I’ve heard on the news that it is going to be even better tomorow. With the wind blowing really good, I was wishing we had brought our kite. Maybe next time.
