Bens Sings Book of Mormon Stories

When Ben started attending Primary last January, he immediately fell in love with all of the action songs that we use to teach the children gospel principles. The song he loves the most these days is Book of Mormon stories, with all of the actions. Here is a short clip of him singing it last summer, with a little help from Mom.

Tomorow I am starting a Mommy and Me music class at our church. I plan to teach a ten week course for Mothers with small children and finish the class with a simple talent show to be performed for the Dads and older siblings.
This should be a really fun project. I’m curious to see how many people show up.
I also have my Colorado Repertory Singers performance coming up. Have not heard yet on the Les Miserables solo. The director held five and a half hours of rehearsal last week and on saturday held a sort of call back audition for On My Own. He gave the I dreamed a dream solo to someone else, but he asked me and four other singers to sing the On My Own solo one more time. Truth be told, I would rather sing that one than the dream song.
He also auditioned me for the solo in Down by the Riverside, which is a spiritual. I found this great version of it on You Tube. Click on it to hear Sister Rosetta Tharp singing it. The soprano solo in our version is at the end, about five pages. I’m looking forward to doing it if he decides I’m the right voice type.
We are also gearing up for the Carnegie Hall Performance of Faure’s Requiem. I have been rehearsing it quite a bit this week, and find myself loving it more and more each time I sing it. Music about the Savior just melts my heart.
Well I better run, busy day tomorow.

UPDATE: Later that night
Paul and Andy have just spent the past two days baking the most amazing chocolate peppermint cake. Tonight was the blue and gold banquet for weblos and they have a tradition of father/son cake baking every year. They pretty much chased me out of the kitchen these past two days while they mixed, baked, melted, sifted, and frosted the most amazing cake.
No contest this year, our stake is becoming politically correct with both this cake contest and the road shows. Competition is BAAAAAD. Cannot hurt the little tykes feelings….they are soooo sensitive. Its pathetic but indicative of our nicey, nice world. No more competition, everyone is equal, bland, same….what a load of collectivist horsey puckey.

Maggie’s Farm: Hillary Clinton when the cameras are off

Hillary%20Mad%20%282%29.gif
Ms. Potty Mouth

“This ill-tempered, violent, foul mouthed, hateful and abusive woman wants to be your president and have total control as commander-in-chief of a military that her party so openly and proudly admit they detest.”

F-Bomb alert….

“F**k off! It’s enough that I have to see you sh**-kickers every day, I’m not going to talk to you too!! Just do your G*d Da** job and keep your mouth shut.”(From the book “American Evita” by Christopher Anderson, p. 90

Hillary to her State Trooper bodyguards after one of them greeted her with “Good morning.”You f**king idiot.”(From the book “Crossfire” p. 84 – Hillary to a State Trooper who was driving her to an event.)

“If you want to remain on this detail, get your f**king ass over here and grab those bags!”(From the book “The First Partner” p. 259 – Hillary to a Secret Service Agent who was reluctant to carry her luggage because he wanted to keep his hands free in case of an incident.)

“Get f**ked! Get the f**k out of my way!!! Get out of my face!!!”(From the book “Hillary’s Scheme” p. 89 – Hillary’s various comments to her Secret Service detail agents.)

“Stay the f**k back, stay the f**k away from me! Don’t come within ten yards of me, or else! Just f**king do as I say, Okay!!!?”(From the book “Unlimited Access“, by Clinton FBI Agent in Charge, Gary Aldrige, p. 139 – Hillary screaming at her Secret Service detail.)”

I guess it is no surprise that Hillary treated her secret service detail as serfs. So many of them died, it should not surprise any of us that she was verbally abusive to them, she and Bill murdered at leisure whenever it suited them.

died: 2/28/93 – “executed” by gunfire in the Waco, Texas assault on the Branch Davidians. – All four were examined by a “private doctor” and died from nearly identical wounds to the left temple, so-called execution style. According to Linda Thompson, videotapes and other evidence indicates that none died from guns fired by Branch Davidians.

In his address to employees of the Treasury Department in the Cash Room on March 18, 1993, Clinton said: “My prayers and I’m sure yours are still with the families of all four of the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents who were killed in WACO — Todd McKeehan and Conway Le Bleu of New Orleans; Steve Willis of Houston, and Robert Williams from my hometown of Little Rock. Three of those four were assigned to my security during the course of the primary or general election.”

However, the Little Rock, Arkansas office of the ATF confirmed that all four had at one point been bodyguards for Bill Clinton, three while he was campaigning for President, and while he had been governor of Arkansas. In the videotape by the American Justice Federation, “WACO II, the Big Lie Continues,” Linda Thompson demonstrates that 15 shots were fired from six separate weapons into and out of a room into which three of the four agents had entered through a window.

Four of these shots were fired from an overhead helicopter, an agent outside the window, firing an MP5 submachine gun, who also threw in a concussion grenade, fired at least two shots into the room. In the autopsies of these agents, three had virtually identical wounds to the left temple that exited through the rear of the head, execution-style. A “private physician” treated all four.”

This post is dedicated to all of the brave secret service men who are now dead.

Killed when the C-130 carrying the Presidential Limos crashed near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. August 18, 1996. All nine people on board a White House support plane were killed late Saterday (10:48pm MDT), when it crashed into Sheep Mountain (also known as Sleeping Indian Mountain) near Jackson Hole Wyoming. The aircraft was en route from Jackson Hole to John F. Kennedy International airport.
The Air Force Lockheed Martin C-130 Hurcules transport aircraft was carrying a presidential vehicle and many pieces of luggage, all related to the president’s vaction (50th birthday celebration in the Grand Tetons). President Clinton said Sunday afternoon that he was told the pilot was attempting to return to the Jackson Hole airport when it crashed (CNN news report).
The Air Force reported finding no evidence of an in-flight mechanical emergency after examining the flight data and flight voice recorders and could not find evidence that the pilot radioed mechanical trouble before crashing into the mountainside as reported by the White House. The victems included 8 crew members and one Secret Service agent. The aircraft and crew were stationed out of Dyess Air Force Base.
Four Marine Pilots, Marine One Presidential Helicopter pilots.

My most sincere condolences to the families of these people who died during the Clinton Wars. We have the internet now and I don’t believe we as a society need to wait a generation or two to fully expose these criminals called Bill and Hillary Clinton for the lies, distortions, and frauds they have perpetrated on the American People. And we for darn sure don’t need any more Clintons in the White House. Give it up Hillary….you belong in federal prison… not in the white house serving as our commander in chief.

Rush Limbaugh: Drive-By Media Out to Get Mitt Romney

Drive-By Media Out to Get Mitt Romney
BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

“RUSH: Boy, they are out for Mitt Romney! I saw this over the weekend: “While Mitt Romney condemns polygamy and its prior practice by his Mormon church, the Republican presidential candidate’s great-grandfather had five wives and at least one of his great-great grandfathers had 12. Polygamy was not just a historical footnote, but a prominent element in the family tree of Mitt Romney.” This is an AP story by Jennifer Dobner and Glen Johnson.

“Romney’s great-grandmother, Hannah Hood Hill, was the daughter of polygamists. She wrote vividly in her autobiography about how she ‘used to walk the floor and shed tears of sorrow’ over her own husband’s multiple marriages. Romney’s great-great grandfather, Parley Pratt, an apostle in the church, had 12 wives.”…

“You might ask: Why this kind of a hit piece on Mitt Romney? Obviously they’re afraid of the guy. They’re trying to destroy him. This is just classic Drive-By Media stuff that is designed to cause problems for Romney when he doesn’t promote this; he doesn’t advocate it; he has not lived it.

How many of you have a family member or two whose lives, were they to be made public, well, maybe not embarrass you — well, yes, embarrass you. As Ross Perot said, “We all have at least one crazy aunt in the basement,” crazy uncle or what have you. We’re not supposed to analyze the religion of anybody else, but here we go analyzing Mitt Romney’s in this really despicable fashion.”

In another part of this broadcast Rush shares a story out of the UK about Obamas Father being a bigamist:

“A Drunk and a Bigot — What the US Presidential Hopeful HASN’T Said About His Father…” Now, I’m only bringing this up. I ignored this when it originally hit on January 27th. I’m bringing this up because of this Mitt Romney business. “We have discovered that his father was not just a deeply flawed individual but an abusive bigamist and an egomaniac, whose life was ruined not by racism or corruption but his own weaknesses….

“At the age of 23 [Obama’s father] headed for university in Hawaii, leaving behind the pregnant Kezia and their baby son. Relatives say he was already a slick womaniser and, once in Honolulu, he promptly persuaded a fellow student called Ann — a naive 18-year-old white girl — to marry him. Barack Jnr was born in August, 1961. … Obama Snr was forced to return to Kenya, where he fathered two more children by Kezia. He was eventually hired as a top civil servant in the fledgling government of Jomo Kenyatta — and married yet again.” I’m just reading to you what it says in the UK Daily Mail on January 27th. The Drive-By Media had not picked this up.”

Media hypocrisy just cracks me up!

Mudville Gazette – CBS 60 minutes bogus anti war group

Check 60

“Update: The story at the link has already been re-written, eliminating the claim that Hutto is an Iraq war veteran.

But in her “Reporters Notebook” video (at the link) Lara Logan describes Appeal for redress: “It’s basically a grass roots movement amongst active duty, serving members of the U.S. military.” And “We were very careful to look thoroughly at the group, and to look into their military backgrounds, and to make sure that this wasn’t… people with something hidden in their past or some reason that wasn’t the stated reason to be involved in this.”

Wrong. I guess CBS isn’t just guilty of bad reporting, they’re actually helping perpetrate the fraud.”

And why would we expect anything less from CBS???

Whitney and Roger Johnson

Whitney Johnson writes a BLOG at WhitneyJohnson.com
Here Dare to Dream web site is Here.
Westboro family steps back and reconsiders its priorities
By Rushmie Kalke TELEGRAM & GAZETTE STAFF
WESTBORO— A little over two years ago, life for the Johnson family was similar to that of many two-parent working families: Crazy schedules, tough commutes, stolen moments with each other and the kids, and always feeling that there wasn’t enough time for anything.
Whitney and Roger Johnson, both 44, of Westboro, decided that they needed to take control and improve the quality of their lives. So they quit their jobs, sold their 6,500-square-foot home in Southboro, downsized to an apartment in Westboro and made a conscious choice to get off the fast track.
A national movement called Take Back Your Time is trying to challenge the overstressed, overworked, and frenetic existence of many Americans. While not aware of this effort when they made their decision, the Johnsons represent the ultimate of those trying to escape the rat race. Next Tuesday has been named Take Back Your Time Day, designed to draw attention to the importance of individuals and families carving out time for enjoyment. The day is a project of the Center for Religion, Ethics and Social Policy at Cornell University.
After a 15-year career on Wall Street, Mrs. Johnson decided that commuting to New York City and traveling to Latin America as a media and telecom investment analyst for Merrill Lynch left little time for her family. The couple and their two children, David, 10, and Miranda, 5, moved to Southboro in 2001, when Mr. Johnson became a professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, but she kept her job in the city. Mr. Johnson said he was working close to 50 hours a week, and his wife, 80 to 90 hours.
Two and half years ago, Mr. Johnson stepped down from his job, and 18 months ago Mrs. Johnson decided to join him.
“Last year we said, ‘Let’s try other things and recalibrate our lives,’ ” she said.
It wasn’t without fear or other people saying they were crazy. Some of Mrs. Johnson’s work peers said to her, “Are you sure? You know you won’t be able to come back.”
Many women face the difficult choice of leaving work to spend more time with their family, but Mr. Johnson said that is even harder for men to do.
“There are a lot of people who say ‘That’s great,’ but there are a lot of people who just don’t get it,” he said. “There’s a social challenge that exists when you get rid of the prestige of your career … And that is exacerbated for me because I’m a guy. It’s not the norm, so you have to have self-assurance and not care what people think.”
The risk-reward has been worth it, Mrs. Johnson said. The family is more connected, especially being in smaller living quarters, where every decision is carefully negotiated.
“When I yell at the kids, I know that is because I am around them enough to discipline them,” Mrs. Johnson said. “As you spend time together, you are more connected and you can access your feelings.”
The walls of the apartment are covered with framed pieces of art, and on this night the table is set for dinner. While Mrs. Johnson sits on the velvety brown couch in the living room, Mr. Johnson cooks dinner, and David and Miranda work on homework or play with Golden, the family lizard.
“My mom is allergic to dog and cat hair,” explains Miranda.
Monday evenings are family nights and each day there are special rituals such as homework sessions, attending the children’s extracurricular activities and talking about each member’s best and worst moment of the day.
While the kids are at school, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson work on entrepreneurial endeavors, such as investing in start-up companies, writing television pilots, and volunteering at their kids’ school. Mrs. Johnson’s labor of love is setting up Dare to Dream, a support network for women. She is going to California for a speaking engagement and has written a children’s book on the theme of fulfilling dreams.
Appropriately, the couple is actively involved with their church community, as it was their faith that made them examine their time more closely. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they sought to observe Sunday as a day of rest while they were working.
They saw benefits to safeguarding a day for worship and family, and it became a precursor to leaving their jobs, Mrs. Johnson said.
The family is living off savings that they say will allow them to live income-free for another three to four years, and have a 401(k) retirement plan that they won’t touch until it’s time.
“We know we are incredibly fortunate,” Mrs. Johnson said. “Of course you are a little bit scared. But there is a confidence of having worked on Wall Street. If I could do that, then we can figure this out.”
More than ever, Americans are facing unprecedented demands on their time, causing stress and dissatisfaction, according to http://www.timeday.org. The Web site says that mandatory overtime is at near-record levels; on average, Americans work nearly nine full weeks (350 hours) longer per year than Western European workers; and working Americans average a little over two weeks of vacation per year, while Europeans average five to six weeks.
While the meaning of success has changed for Mrs. Johnson, she said that she would be disingenuous in saying that she didn’t want all the accolades of her former life while she was working to achieve them.
“Our society is very reward orientated,” she said.
The Johnson said their kids have benefited from having their parents around more, but they will have to learn how to balance the pressures of life for themselves.
“They’ll have to find out what they are comfortable with,” Mr. Johnson said. “There’ll be pressure on them as there was on us.”
