I had a nice interview with Mom Blogger Gemma from Sofia Says Blog. She gave birth for the first time two months ago in a complete unassisted childbirth after doing her own prenatal care.

Hatch Family

When I was expecting my daughter Allison in 1991, Kathy Kendall Tackett was soliciting stories for her first book Post Partum Depression, a Nurses Guide. I photocopied the journal I kept while hospitalized for Post Partum Psychosis and along with a copy of my medical records, mailed the documents to Kathleen back in 92.
She used my story as the whole final chapter of her textbook, which was recently republished in a second edition titled Depression in New Mothers. I collaborated with her once again on chapter 14 of the new book and it is available on Amazon HERE.
I strongly endorse her cutting edge research and can testify that Breastfeeding and the hormonal flooding of relaxin through my body and mind was the perfect way to calm my troubled soul during the years before I recovered my assault memories. I nursed Allison for 4 1/2 years, and during my mothering was breastfeeding one or two babies at a time for over 13 years. Normal hormonal connectedness was so much more effective than drug therapy during the years when I was feelings lots of distress from being raped and molested, but did not understand where those emotions were coming from.

Allison and Jenny in 2012.
I purchased the Kindle Version of Jennifers Book last week and finished reading it late last night.
The various companies that Margulis whacks in this expose get a well deserved spanking for putting profits ahead of the well being of American Families.
With chapters devoted to Pregnancy, Birth, Breastfeeding, and Newborn care Jennifer cuts through the marketing facade of Ultrasound Technology (tying it to Autism), Baby Formula, Plastic Diapering, and more to help parents see where current medical practice and its dubious ties to various money making schemes are more about profiteering off of the wombs and ignorance of the American People than about the health of mothers and babies.
A devastating chapter on Vaccines outlines the fact that many vaccine researchers and even some pediatricians and nurses do not allow their own children to be vaccinated.
Taxpayers who fund so much of this current insanity through government programs would do well to read this excellent book to see just where all of their hard earned money is going.
Although I am a free market capitalist and would like to see all government money removed from the Health Care system, I applaud Jennifers excellent expose’ as a great place for parents to begin when deciding how and where the family budget will be divided when it comes to living a healthy family life.
My long term readers know that I walked away from Allopathic Birth in 1994 after the birth of my third child. Many families are paying out of pocket for Midwifery, Chiropractic, Naturopathy, Homeopathic, Massage, Nutrition, and Herbal instead of the Drugs and Surgery of the American Birth Machine.
You do have a choice and a healthy alternative from current medical dogma.
Ultimately parents themselves will have to decide if they want to spend their hard earned dollars and precious time dickering with a broken maternity system.

This book is designed around four keys that can unlock the secrets to
having the greatest pregnancy ever. The keys relate to specific time
periods and concepts during pregnancy. When parents focus on incorporating
these keys into their lifestyle, it positively influences the behavior and
personality of their child. No longer should the information given to
pregnant women focus primarily on the aches and pains of pregnancy; what
is needed today is an understanding of how important the motherbaby bond
is and how this bond forever impacts the family dynamic. The Greatest
Pregnancy Ever is the only book that meets this need.
