If Ahmadinejad Wants the UN, Let Him Have It
I love Claudia Rosett:
Earlier in the week I suggested that the UN be turned into a school where Liberals could go to get educated about Capitalism.
Claudia had a better idea!
“Iβll add to the list one more suggestion. What makes that UN stage such a prize for the likes of Ahmadinejad is the support β both political and financial β conferred upon it by the democratic nations of the world, especially the United States. If the UN canβt deal with Ahmadinejad, let Ahmadinejad deal with the UN. Get out, and give it to him. Send it to Tehran, lock, stock and reconfigured Security Council. Let him make all the speeches he wants. With that clutter out of the way, and with the $5.3 billion the U.S. would save every year, plus the considerable moral and political capital we have been squandering on the UN, we might just have a shot at creating in its place institutions that work.”

Anthrax Attack five years later:
Steyn on 9-11 Coverage:
Coverage of 9/11 anniversary was too wimpy
“At what point does a society become simply too genteel to wage war? We’re like those apocryphal Victorian matrons who covered up the legs of their pianos. Acts of war against America have to be draped in bathetic music and uncomprehending reflections and crescents of embrace. We fight tastefully, too. Last week one of America’s unmanned drones could have killed 200 Taliban big shots but they were attending a funeral and we apparently have a policy of not killing anybody near cemeteries out of sensitivity. So even our unmanned drones are obliged to behave with sensitivity. But then, these days the very soundtrack to our society is, so to speak, an unmanned drone.”
Why should the world care how Sweden votes?
Al-Qaida warns Muslims: Time to get out of U.S.
“I am saying that Muslims must leave America, but we can attack America anytime,” he said. “Our cycle of warnings has been completed, now we have fresh edicts from some prominent Muslim scholars to destroy our enemy, this is our defending of Jihad; the enemy has entered in our homes and we have the right to enter in their homes, they are killing us, we will kill them.”
We shall see….

Article VI Interview: David Barton of Wallbuilders
“John: Ok, they have you working with folks of faith, have you ever met with groups of Mormons? Mormon elders and so forth?
David Barton: On a number of occasions. In fact, I worked 41 months with U.S. Congressman Ernest Istook, who is a Mormon, and is now running for governor in Oklahoma. In September of β94, when Republicans were still in the minority, Newt Gingrich stood outside Heritage Foundation and gave a speech promising that if Republicans became the majority in the House, the House would have a vote on a Constitutional amendment to protect school prayer and public religious expressions.
When Republicans did indeed gain control of the House through the Republican Revolution of 1994, Gingrich followed through with his promise. He assigned Ernie to oversee the task β to draft a constitutional amendment that would roll back about 40 years of religion-hostile decisions by the Supreme Court. I spent 41 months working with Ernie on that project, and I donβt think Iβve seen anyone else more passionately committed to defending religious liberties than Ernie was. Gail Ruzika with Eagle Forum of Utah is another example of a Mormon who has done a great job of moving pro-family legislation through a state legislature.”
More on the “Mormon Question”
Mormons have always been politically active. It is part of our spiritual heritage. Our first prophet Joseph Smith ran for the presidency of the US.
Has Socialism Started Retreating In Europe?
Man, I hope so…
More infant deaths with elective C-sections
Everybody in the country is all up in arms over the Spinach E-Coli story…(Which I personally believe is an underhanded attack on Organic Farming) – but why isn’t the news yelling to all doctors of pregnant women…STOP coercing women into having C-sections….you are killing the babies….” It’s not like the CDC has felt the need to publish the Birth stats for 2005 – and no preliminary report for 2006 yet….why the foot dragging people???
Education Is Path to Democracy
I am in total agreement with the President and his wife on the Literacy issue!
Are Videotaped Beheadings Covered by Geneva?
And I completely agree with Ann on the Appeasement issue. Terrorists should NOT be covered by the Geneva Convention. It legitimizes them and the cause they are fighting for – “Death to America” is not exactly covered under Geneva Rules of Engagement.

UN Replacement for Kofi???
Lotta talk today about the UN.

Joseph Klein at Frontpage Mag had a piece outlining the need for truth and a “restoration” of the founding principles of the UN.
I’m curious to know what founding principles he is referring to:
“Alger Hiss wasn’t merely a middle-level bureaucrat who turned over classified documents to the Soviet espionage network. He was the number-two man in Franklin D. Roosevelt’s State Department and a key player in our foreign policy and relations with the Soviet Union.
Hiss was the principal author of the United Nations Charter, which was drafted at the Dumbarton Oaks Conference. Hiss presided as the UN’s first Secretary General at the San Francisco Conference in April 1945, where we learned that a secret agreement had been made at the Yalta Conference the preceding February, giving the Soviet Union three votes in the UN, while every other nation has only one.”
The Alger Hiss Fallout on Politics
Klein said at the end of his piece:
“What counts in the end is whether Ban Ki-Moon or any other serious candidate for Secretary General has the backbone to speak truth to power, denounce the Islamic-fascists who export terror all around the world and firmly distinguish between right and wrong. If it is not already too late to save the United Nations after the devastation of Kofi Annanβs squandered rule, the next Secretary General will have one last, scant chance to restore the UN to its founding principles.”
The UN’s Kofi
“Five people have already declared their candidacy, but it is possible that Mr Annan’s successor will not be among them. There is still time for others to throw their hats into the ring.”
They forgot one person who has had LONG ambitions to be UN secretary general:

The men who want Kofi Annan’s job
U.N. is back in the global spotlight
Wouldn’t it be great! Hillary as President of the US, and Bill as UN Secretary General. do, do, do, doooo You’ve just entered the twilight zone…..
Personally, I think we should find other uses for the UN building, perhaps a school to teach Capitalism to every Liberal in New York?
As for the UN Flag?
Hankie?

Doormat?

Rag to clean the floor with?

People, this bloated, sick, toxic, overwhelming, self-important institution needs to DIE!
Please, let’s just take the time and energy to cut off all of its funding and let the various religious and secular charities in our world take over humanitarian efforts. They are so much better at it anyway.
I like to stand on the UN flag when I go Freeping:

I wonder when we in the west are going to stop being snookered by the bloated bear-o-crats at the UN???

Happenings
I snapped this shot of the sunrise off my deck the other morning. I had been up early walking our dog, and after the walk, I thought, “I’ve got to get a picture of this beautiful september morning!

On saturday Paul and I took a group down to the Cannery to can some dry pack foods.
Here is a picture of him pouring red wheat into the cans:

One of the families who attended brought their young son to help can some food:

And two of the ladies who attended were not LDS. They purchased some food for storage and were excited about the opportunity to serve with Humanitarian Canning efforts.

After the canning session Paul and I drove to Allisons gymnastics meet. I snapped this shot of her doing a back walkover on the beam during warm up. Pictures were not allowed during the actual meet. She did not place, but her team won 2nd overall at this invitational.

These past few weeks I have made the decision not to continue teaching my provident living class. With the changes in our home life these past few months, we are extremely tight in our living space, and I found it nearly impossible to host a class last week. I just kept bumping into everything as I tried to manuever around my kitchen and dining area. I also have decided that no more will we host birthday parties at our home. We were going to celebrate Andrew’s party at the park, and started out playing there, but a sudden rain storm with lightning in abundance shoved us back in doors.
The fit was so tight with all those ten year old boys, I decided right then that our next friend party would take place at ChuckE Cheese, or some other such invented place to host parties. Our home pretty much fits our family, but no room for extras.
It was actually liberating to have made these decisions. I have struggled to know if I should continue with community outreach with the various classes I have taught over the years. But this feels like a good year to close it all down and keep our family space more private.
I have opened up our home to strangers in a variety of settings. Mostly the Provident Living Class, but also my Childbirth class during the early nineties, and also the Essential oils classes I taught off and on during the early years of Aromatherapy Education. I always like to teach something I am just learning, as it is highly motivating to me to really master the material that I am supposed to teach. One of the reasons I became a Bradley teacher is because I wanted to learn everything about natural childbirth, and I knew the teacher always learns more than the student.
I feel like change is in the works in my life. With the performance of the Brahms Requiem last week, and my involvement with the Musical at my children’s school last spring, I feel like it is time to shift focus a little from health and childbirth pursuits to musical and theatre endeavors.
Tonight I am hosting our unassisted home birth support group. Laura Shanley and I started it a couple years ago, but only two people plan to attend, and that will not be a problem in terms of space. I had a great talk with my best friend Susanna last night and she shared with me the story of a twin UC. Her friend Lori gave birth after a three hour labor to a son and a daughter. The first was head first and the second was feet first. Born at 39 weeks to a momma who trusts the Lord and trusts birth! Very exciting to hear! Susanna sounded great on the phone too! She is always so fun to talk to.
The third choir that I am singing with this season had our first performance yesterday. Our ward Choir sang a wonderful version of Awake and Arise for our sacrament meeting yesterday. The member of the bishopric conducting had fun with the title of that song as he introduced it. Our church service is in the afternoon and sometimes a few heads start to nod during the meeting. Especially those men who have jobs where they travel much of the time. We also had choir practice after church, so it was a very musical sabbath.
The Singers of Broomfield choir has our first rehearsal this saturday. This is the choir that is performing Faure’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall next June. I am very excited to sing this music in the coming months.
I need to run, but wanted to share a little bit of our life.
This week is busy with soccer games, one more gymnastics meet, and on friday Paul and I are heading down to the Denver Temple for stake temple night. Our three oldest are participating in a food drive for Colorado Food Share on saturday.
I have been doing a juice fast for the past two days, and plan to do a liver flush tonight. My liver has felt so congested since the work in our basement was done. All that glue, paint, and carpet toxin has made me feel somewhat toxic, so I am doing a cleanse to shove it out.
Have a great Day!
