“To make our own days and those of our posterity โlong upon the landโ God has given us, it is essential not only for children to honor their parents but for parents to honor their children.”

Writing

I continue to get emails from people who would like to “edit” me. One lady said she would be very embarrassed to be me because if she wrote as badly as I do, she would not dream of putting her work on the internet, as it would just be so presumptuous. Another dissed me as being incongruent in my personal life and promoting freedom for others, when I behave as a dictator in family life. I’m not quite sure what she meant, but all I could gather is that my writing made her angry.
Some emails are from good friends just sending along a friendly FYI – hey did you know you mispelled this word? Or, what do you know, you got this link wrong….or perhaps you missed this, and would prefer to say it another way?
I don’t really mind those types of emails, I know these people love me and just want me to put my best foot forward.
Others send along more snarky toned emails letting me know that I used bad grammer, or hacked up an idea with bad wording etc…
What I would like to explain and have understood by you my readers are the conditions under which I write. Not to excuse myself for a lack of excellence in writing. More to let you know that I am doing my best, and for now, that has to be enough.
I generally write under the most intense of conditions. Children running through my home, dog barking, phone ringing. Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines…no, not for blogging, but to keep my life working well. Have to get Shelly to work by noon, pick up Allison by four, and Jeff to the chiropractor at five. Supper on the table at 5:30 so the kids can be out the door by 6:00.
Get to bed early, so I can wake up early…but never seem to fall asleep before eleven because somebody in the house needs me. I go all day long….laundry, dishes, cooking, shopping, disciplining, teaching, encouraging, and helping.
I know other writers are able to do all this and more and still take the time to do a grammatical check or spell check. I don’t. I figure if I spell it natural or naturale, you still get the meaning of what I am trying to say.
I am not a writer. I don’t have an editor, proofreader, assistant, or secretary. I don’t get a check every two weeks, and I don’t have any advertisers on my sites. Over the years I have enjoyed writing letters to the editor on a variety of topics, and I wrote my books because I had something to say, and now I blog because I like to share the good things in my life, hopefully to help someone have an easier time as a mother, but also because I love to share what I have learned from 18 years of mothering.

As I said, I am not a writer, I am simply a mother who happens to write. So, as I make excuses for my style of writing which tends to be somewhat stream of conciousness and not very well put together, just know….the dog is barking, Ben is asking for a peanut butter sandwich, a friend just called inviting me to go to the park, Jeff is teasing somebody, the girls are arguing with me about chores, and Andy just ate the last cookie (piece of bread, apple, chip, cracker…that kid is always hungry) and everyone is mad at him.

This is my day to day life. I am a blogger, and I know my writing would never be copy for a major newspaper, but for now, this is what I have to offer.

Drug Awareness
I have always felt a connection to Andrea Yates because of the Post Partum Psychosis I experienced after the birth of my first child.
Here is a copy of an email I received from Ann Blake Tracy Today. She sends out occasional updates to her email group. I completely agree with the message of this press conference.

The International Coalition for Drug Awareness is holding a Press
Conference on Tuesday, July 18th at 12 noon at the Harris County
Courthouse Criminal Justice Center, 1201 Franklin, Houston, Texas in
support of Andrea and Rusty Yates and their families.
Due to the antidepressant induced homicidal effects of Effexor, we
are calling on the FDA to issue similar warnings of homicidal
thoughts that are induced by all antidepressants. Effexor is one of
the antidepressants Andrea Yates was taking at the time she drowned
her children.
Many members of ICFDA will be in attendance to discuss the tragedies
they have suffered in their own families, tragedies that are similar
to the Yates’.
In attendance at the conference will be: Antonio Ortiz, Florida
Director of ICFDA, whose fiancee shot and killed her twin boys while
withdrawing from Zoloft and starting on Paxil: Jurgen Viktor,
Southern California Director of ICFDA, whose son, Jared, stabbed an
elderly lady 61 times after only 6 days on Paxil: Jay Baadsgard,
Washington Director of ICFDA, whose son, Corey, while withdrawing
from Paxil and starting on Effexor, took a gun to school and held his
classmates hostage: Amy, from Ohio, whose husband, while on Effexor,
drowned their two year old son: and the father of John Paul Marsh of
Texas, who, while on Paxil, killed his best friend
Also in attendance will be Ann Blake Tracy, Ph.D, author of “Prozac:
Panacea or Pandora: Out Serotonin Nightmare” and Executive Director
of ICFDA as well as an expert court witness for the past 14 years on
antidepressant induced violent cases.
Rusty Yates is hoping to be there for the conference although the
judge has issued a gag order for him. Rusty Yates’ mother and aunt
will be in attendance.
One important message these families want the world to understand is
there was clearly little to no warning at all that their loved ones
had reached a toxic level of their antidepressants.

Cycle of Nonsense
Thomas Sowell – Moral Clarity personified….
Cycle of Nonsense
“Now that Israel has responded to rocket attacks and the abduction of its soldiers by terrorists by making military strikes into areas controlled by those terrorists, much of our media are deploring another “cycle of violence” in the Middle East.
For reasons unknown, some people seem to regard verbal equivalence as moral equivalence — and the latter as some kind of badge of broadmindedness, if not intellectual superiority.
Therefore, when Palestinian terrorists (“militants” in politically correct Newspeak) attack Israel and then Israel responds with military force, that is just another “cycle of violence” in the Middle East to some people.
The “cycle” notion suggests that each side is just responding to what the other side does. But just what had Israel done to set off these latest terrorist acts? It voluntarily pulled out of Gaza, after evacuating its own settlers, and left the land to the Palestinian authorities.
Terrorists then used the newly acquired land to launch rockets into Israel and then seized an Israeli soldier. Other terrorists in Lebanon followed suit. The great mantra of the past, “trading land for peace,” is now thoroughly discredited, or should be.
But facts mean nothing to people who are determined to find equivalence, whether today in the Middle East or yesterday in the Cold War.”
Mr. Sowell has been one of my favorite columnists for years. I so appreciate his clarifying of the current conflict.
