I’ve been reading Ann Coulters new book all weekend.
Found this great graphic on the Jet Noise blog

As I’ve been reading Ann’s book, fabulous analysis so far on abortion and education, this logo just sort of came to mind.
Thought I’d share it with everyone.

One Year Anniversary

One year ago tonight I was uploading the file for my Introduction to this blog. I had spent weeks writing that first entry and decided to start the blog on July 4th, as it is my favorite holiday, and significant to the themes of my writing.
I just checked the years traffic and was astounded to see that my overall unique visitors for the year was at 135,740 with 636,890 hits overall. One of the most exciting facets of this effort has been the international traffic. Welcome to everyone who is coming in for a look from all over the world!
I don’t plan to ever again post numbers in terms of traffic, because I don’t want to be distracted by thinking about how many people are reading. The first month I had 522 unique visitors and I was just as excited that first month as I am today. It is such a privledge to write something that others find interesting and informative.
I have been surprised that the spiritual entries get the most traffic, and the cooking entries are the most shared. I promise to spend quality time this next year doing whole food cooking entries and will share all of my sunday school lessons.
Today we had a nice holiday. We celebrated with our church congregation at a picnic over at our local park. It was a fun gathering of good friends. The guys played football and the kids played on the toys, and the moms talked and we shared some nice moments. This afternoon we have just been kicking back relaxing and right now Paul is getting the children ready to go watch fireworks.
I purchased Ann Coulter’s Godless yesterday and have spent a couple hours reading it this afternoon. She is spot on in her analysis and I applaud her taking the time to write such a great book.
I need to run, but please know how grateful I have been for all of you taking the time and energy to stop by for a look!
Happy Independance Day!

Let Freedom Ring! Happy Fourth of July!!!

Quotes from The Patriot Post the Conservative Journal of Record.
THE FOUNDATION
“It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn
Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized
with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, guns, Bells,
Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the
other from this Time forward forever more.” —John Adams
PATRIOT’S DECLARATION

“The Sun never shined on a cause of greater worth.” Thomas Paine
(1776)
“I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure,
that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and
defend these States. Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays
of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than
worth all the Means. And that Posterity will tryumph in that Days
Transaction, even altho We should rue it, which I trust in God We
shall not.” —John Adams (1776)
“Our cause is noble; it is the cause of mankind!” —George Washington (1779)
“[T]he flames kindled on the 4 of July 1776, have spread over too much of the globe to be extinguished by the feeble engines of despotism; on the contrary, they will consume these engines and all who work them.” —Thomas Jefferson (1821)
“If we wish to be free; if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending; if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained—we must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms, and to the God of hosts, is all that is left us.” —Patrick Henry (1775)
INSIGHT
“In its main features the Declaration of Independence is a
spiritual document. It is a declaration not of material but
spiritual conceptions. Equality, liberty, popular sovereignty,
the rights of man—these are not elements which we can see and
touch. They are ideals. They have their source and their roots in
religious convictions. They belong to the unseen world. Unless
the faith of the American people in these religious convictions
is to endure, the principles of our Declaration will perish.
We cannot continue to enjoy the result if we neglect and abandon
the cause. If all men are created equal, that is final. If
they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If
governments derive their just power from the consent of the
governed, that is final.
No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth and their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction cannot lay claim to progress.” —Calvin Coolidge
“For we must consider that we shall be as a City upon a Hill.
The eyes of all people are upon us; so that if we shall deal falsely
with our God in this work we have undertaken and so cause Him to
withdraw His present help from us, we shall be made a story and
a byword through the world…
Beloved there is now set before us life, and good, death and evil in that we are commanded this day to love the Lord our God, and to love one another, to walk in His ways and to keep His Commandments and His Ordinance, and His laws, and the articles of our covenant with Him that we may live and be multiplied, and that the Lord our God may bless…
Therefore let us choose life, that we, and our seed may live; by obeying His voice, and cleaving to Him, for He is our life, and our
prosperity.” —John Winthrop
LIBERTY
“Today’s Americans cannot escape the responsibility that the words
of the Declaration have thrust upon us; we stand for some things
whether we will or not.
We stand for freedom, for the hope of human dignity for all, for what is meant when men speak of the West, whether its values are threatened by European totalitarianisms in one era, or a murderous fanaticism out of the darkest Ages in this one.
This is the strangest of wars that has been thrust upon us,
this conflict waged against innocent workers in office towers and
passengers in airplanes.
It is a war waged by a hidden enemy who has no clear purpose except revenge—revenge against History, which has passed him and his hatreds by. Once again, uncertainties abound, but no doubts. For this is a war in defense of freedom, and a freedom tide is still rising in the world. It has been since 1776.” —Paul Greenberg
THE GIPPER

“The day of our nation’s birth in that little hall in Philadelphia,
[was] a day on which debate had raged for hours. The men gathered
there were honorable men hard-pressed by a king who had flouted
the very laws they were willing to obey.
Even so, to sign the Declaration of Independence was such an irretrievable act that the walls resounded with the words ‘treason, the gallows, the headsman’s axe,’ and the issue remained in doubt. [On that day] 56 men, a little band so unique we have never seen their like since, had pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor.
Some gave their lives in the war that followed, most gave
their fortunes, and all preserved their sacred honor… In recent
years, however, I’ve come to think of that day as more than just
the birthday of a nation. It also commemorates the only true
philosophical revolution in all history.
Oh, there have been revolutions before and since ours. But those revolutions simply exchanged one set of rules for another. Ours was a revolution that changed the very concept of government. Let the Fourth of July always be a reminder that here in this land, for the first time, it was decided that man is born with certain God-given rights; that government is only a convenience created and managed by
the people, with no powers of its own except those voluntarily
granted to it by the people. We sometimes forget that great truth,
and we never should.” —Ronald Reagan
THE LAST WORD
“May it be to the world, what I believe it will be, (to some
parts sooner, to others later, but finally to all,) the signal of
arousing men to burst the chains under which monkish ignorance and
superstition had persuaded them to bind themselves, and to assume
the blessings and security of self-government.
That form which we have substituted, restores the free right to the unbounded exercise of reason and freedom of opinion. All eyes are opened, or opening, to the rights of man. The general spread of the light of science has already laid open to every view the palpable truth, that the mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them
legitimately, by the grace of God.
These are grounds of hope for others. For ourselves, let the annual return of this day forever refresh our recollections of these rights, and an undiminished devotion to them.” —Thomas Jefferson

Health Care Extortion – more difficult than changing political parties

This morning I read a story about a black man who has written a book detailing the difficulties he encountered when he changed political parties.
Here is a link to his book Coming Out of the Republican Closet. And here is an interview with Reginald Bohannon conducted by John Hawkins.
Some telling points from the interview:
“Bohannon soon discovered that he was conservative. Not wanting to disappoint his family and bring ill-repute on them, Bohannon chose to keep his political viewpoints to himself.”
“Tell us about that. Why would being conservative disappoint your family and “bring ill repute on them?”
Reginald Bohannon: Well, for one, 90-95% of blacks vote for the Democratic Party and my mom was — and still is — active with the Democratic Party in Lexington, North Carolina. If I..came out and told her that I was a Republican, she would…get (called names) and so would I — Uncle Tom, sell-out, Oreo and things of that nature.
So, once I did find out that I was conservative …I didn’t want the name calling and I hadn’t gotten up the courage to come out of the closet at that time. Once I learned more about conservatism and educated myself through talk radio, columns, and books, that gave me the courage to say, “Yes, I am conservative and I do vote for Republicans.”
I appreciate this mans courage. I have observed similar courage in the lives of people I know and love. For example, I observed first hand the intense pressure my brother in law experienced when he decided to leave his Assembly Of God Congregation, where he served as Youth Pastor, in order to get baptised into the LDS church. The rejection and pressure was real from friends and family. And caused this person I love incredible pain.
I believe similar pain is associated with a change in political parties and applaud all closet conservatives who have the courage to come out to family and friends.
This story was juxtiposed by another story I read this morning about a mother who decided to pull her child to safety and out of the clutches of what I believe is the most hard line, all powerful, and tyrannical cult in our country. What other religion, party, group, or assembly could get away with this sort of offence?
When one changes religions or political parties, the rejection can be intense, but few would find it cause for charging the individual with a crime. But when one decides to leave the church of Modern Medicine run for your life, cause Big toxic pharma Brother is gonna git cha.
Tina Marie Carlsen has just experienced the nightmare that “happens regularly” according to this Seattle Times article.
Just listen to the language:
“When Tina Marie Carlsen smuggled her 9-month-old son, Riley Rogers, out of Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center hours before his scheduled kidney surgery last week, it was the culmination of a long and intense battle with doctors over how to treat her child.
Carlsen wanted to explore alternative treatments. But hospital officials, who believed they were running out of time, finally went to court to have Riley taken from her custody.
Monday, after an Amber Alert and police manhunts, Riley was back in the hospital and Carlsen was in custody, charged with second-degree kidnapping.
It’s a situation that sends chills through many parents — and doctors alike. How can a parent who objects to medical treatment of her child become a criminal?
Even though going to court to take custody away from parents who refuse treatments for their children is always a last resort, it happens regularly, said Dr. Doug Diekema, interim director of the Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics at Children’s.”
I would like to suggest the idea, that as difficult as it is for non-conformists to change political parties, religions, or even food preferences, the most difficult change in our society, the one wrought with the most intense psychologial pressure, scrutiny, and repercussions is in fact standing up to the Medical Monopoly and claiming your rights of self determination for and in behalf of your children.
I have termed this self determination Family Sovereignty
Our society is in a sorry state when a mother is charged with kidnapping her own child (with Amber Alert!!!), thrown in jail, and her nine month old child taken from her arms just so doctors can practice their voodoo allopathic drugs and surgery.
This mother should have all charges dropped, her child placed back in her care, and she should be supported in choosing and paying for whichever natural remedy she feels will best serve her child.
Why?
Current Medical dogma is rift with incompetence and long term side effects that are deadly and dangerous to families. The total number of deaths caused by conventional medicine is an astounding 783,936 per year. It is parents who have to live with the long term consequences of health care decisions, it is parents (or taxpayers) who pay the bill, and so it should be parents who make the decisions for and in behalf of their little ones.
The article ended with these sobering words from the doctor:
“McCormick said some otherwise good parents just have a “blind spot” when it comes to medical decisions for their child, and Diekema agreed:
“That doesn’t make them criminals, and it doesn’t make them bad parents,” he said.
“I think it would be awful if someone went to jail. I don’t think it’s the appropriate approach in these cases. This is where mercy needs to balance justice a little bit.”
I wonder what Dr. McCormick would think of my lifestyle?
I don’t believe in allopathic prenatal care. I give birth at home. We don’t allow our children to be vaccinated. If one of my children developed a kidney infection or some other type of blockage related infection, I would seek help from our herbalist and chiropractor with the understanding that blockages are best dissolved using holistic means rather than surgery, which causes scar tissue, and drugs which simply cause more toxicity in the body, especially in the eliminative organs.
Blind spots?
We choose to live a Natural Lifestyle and have largely apostatized from the Church of Modern Medicine. Does our non-conformity make us criminals? Bad parents? Or place us in the “Medical Negligence” camp?
Or are we simply exercising our rights of self determination for and in behalf of the children we have thoughtfully and prayerfully welcomed into our home?
Those doctors, social workers, police, and judges who have decided that they know what is best for family life need to realize that increasing numbers of Americans simply don’t want to purchase what they have to sell. Rather than criminalizing our lifestyle choices and deciding for us how our health care dollars are spent these medical professionals need to realize that they are simply one of the many and varied forms of healing in the marketplace and they may or may not be chosen at any given time to help in the cause of healing a sick child.
It is the height of arrogance and tyranny for this sick system to be imposing itself on free americans to such a degree.
It used to be called extortion when a person obtained money or property from another through coercion or intimidation. Now it is just good medical care. Parents not only have the threat of losing custody of their children, they now have the piling on effect of having to pay all the medical bills, legal fees, time away from jobs, not to mention the mental anguish of being separated from beloved children.
The medicos are so confident that their one little slice of the healing pie is the be all and end all in a world of healing that includes Homeopathy, Chiropractic, Naturopathy, Midwifery, Herbs, Essential Oils, Aryuveda, Massage, Nutrition etc.. that they don’t have the humility or the decency to realize that drugs and surgery are just one way, and often the worst way, to heal a problem in the body. It is time for the Monopoly to be broken up and real freedom of choice to take back its place in the lives of everyday Americans.

UPDATE: Baby has surgery
“SEATTLE
An ailing 9-month-old baby had surgery Friday to insert a catheter that will allow for future kidney dialysis. His mother had tried desperately to prevent the surgery, seeking to pursue alternative natural treatments.
Earlier Friday, a Tacoma judge refused Tina Carlsen’s request to block the surgery. Carlsen, 34, of Sumner, spent five days in jail after she took her son, Riley Rogers, out of a Seattle hospital on June 22, prompting a two-day statewide Amber Alert.
She was freed from jail Thursday but still faces trial on a charge of second-degree domestic violence kidnapping. She could face a maximum year in jail if convicted.”

Denver Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

On tuesday my husband Paul took our three oldest children down to the Denver Temple to perform Baptisms for the Dead.
Jeff recently turned 12 and so it was his first time attending the temple. I stayed home with our two youngest sons, but I prayed a couple of times for Jeff. Prayed that he would feel the spirit and that his heart would be touched by spending some time in the House of the Lord. I also prayed that he would get a sense of the importance of temple work, and how beneficial these proxy ordinances are for those who have passed on.
When he came home I asked him to tell me about the experience and he said it was “the best day of his life”. He told me that he had never felt such peace in his heart.
I just cried as he shared this with me. Tears of joy. It is such an amazing experience to observe my children maturing spiritually.
Here are some photos of the Denver Temple that I took the last time I attended a few weeks ago.

For me, attending the temple gives me respite from the cares of my day to day life. I can walk into the temple and leave the world behind me and focus on the things of eternity. Paul and I both feel so blessed to live close to a temple.
