Ten Most Harmful Books of the 19th and 20th Centuries
HUMAN EVENTS asked a panel of 15 conservative scholars and public policy leaders to help us compile a list of the Ten Most Harmful Books of the 19th and 20th Centuries. Each panelist nominated a number of titles and then voted on a ballot including all books nominated. A title received a score of 10 points for being listed No. 1 by one of our panelists, 9 points for being listed No. 2, etc. Appropriately, The Communist Manifesto, by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, earned the highest aggregate score and the No. 1 listing.
1. The Communist Manifesto
Authors: Karl Marx and Freidrich Engels
Publication date: 1848
Score: 74
Summary: Marx and Engels, born in Germany in 1818 and 1820, respectively, were the intellectual godfathers of communism. Engels was the original limousine leftist: A wealthy textile heir, he financed Marx for much of his life. In 1848, the two co-authored The Communist Manifesto as a platform for a group they belonged to called the Communist League. The Manifesto envisions history as a class struggle between oppressed workers and oppressive owners, calling for a workers’ revolution so property, family and nation-states can be abolished and a proletarian Utopia established. The Evil Empire of the Soviet Union put the Manifesto into practice.

2. Mein Kampf
Author: Adolf Hitler
Publication date: 1925-26
Score: 41
Summary: Mein Kampf (My Struggle) was initially published in two parts in 1925 and 1926 after Hitler was imprisoned for leading Nazi Brown Shirts in the so-called “Beer Hall Putsch” that tried to overthrow the Bavarian government. Here Hitler explained his racist, anti-Semitic vision for Germany, laying out a Nazi program pointing directly to World War II and the Holocaust. He envisioned the mass murder of Jews, and a war against France to precede a war against Russia to carve out “lebensraum” (“living room”) for Germans in Eastern Europe. The book was originally ignored. But not after Hitler rose to power. According to the Simon Wiesenthal Center, there were 10 million copies in circulation by 1945.

3. Quotations from Chairman Mao
Author: Mao Zedong
Publication date: 1966
Score: 38
Summary: Mao, who died in 1976, was the leader of the Red Army in the fight for control of China against the anti-Communist forces of Chiang Kai-shek before, during and after World War II. Victorious, in 1949, he founded the People’s Republic of China, enslaving the world’s most populous nation in communism. In 1966, he published Quotations from Chairman Mao Zedong, otherwise known as The Little Red Book, as a tool in the “Cultural Revolution” he launched to push the Chinese Communist Party and Chinese society back in his ideological direction. Aided by compulsory distribution in China, billions were printed. Western leftists were enamored with its Marxist anti-Americanism. “It is the task of the people of the whole world to put an end to the aggression and oppression perpetrated by imperialism, and chiefly by U.S. imperialism,” wrote Mao.

4. The Kinsey Report
Author: Alfred Kinsey
Publication date: 1948
Score: 37
Summary: Alfred Kinsey was a zoologist at Indiana University who, in 1948, published a study called Sexual Behavior in the Human Male, commonly known as The Kinsey Report. Five years later, he published Sexual Behavior in the Human Female. The reports were designed to give a scientific gloss to the normalization of promiscuity and deviancy. “Kinsey’s initial report, released in 1948 . . . stunned the nation by saying that American men were so sexually wild that 95% of them could be accused of some kind of sexual offense under 1940s laws,” the Washington Times reported last year when a movie on Kinsey was released. “The report included reports of sexual activity by boys–even babies–and said that 37% of adult males had had at least one homosexual experience. . . . The 1953 book also included reports of sexual activity involving girls younger than age 4, and suggested that sex between adults and children could be beneficial.”

5. Democracy and Education
Author: John Dewey
Publication date: 1916
Score: 36
Summary: John Dewey, who lived from 1859 until 1952, was a “progressive” philosopher and leading advocate for secular humanism in American life, who taught at the University of Chicago and at Columbia. He signed the Humanist Manifesto and rejected traditional religion and moral absolutes. In Democracy and Education, in pompous and opaque prose, he disparaged schooling that focused on traditional character development and endowing children with hard knowledge, and encouraged the teaching of thinking “skills” instead. His views had great influence on the direction of American education–particularly in public schools–and helped nurture the Clinton generation.

6. Das Kapital
Author: Karl Marx
Publication date: 1867-1894
Score: 31
Summary: Marx died after publishing a first volume of this massive book, after which his benefactor Engels edited and published two additional volumes that Marx had drafted. Das Kapital forces the round peg of capitalism into the square hole of Marx’s materialistic theory of history, portraying capitalism as an ugly phase in the development of human society in which capitalists inevitably and amorally exploit labor by paying the cheapest possible wages to earn the greatest possible profits. Marx theorized that the inevitable eventual outcome would be global proletarian revolution. He could not have predicted 21st Century America: a free, affluent society based on capitalism and representative government that people the world over envy and seek to emulate.

7. The Feminine Mystique
Author: Betty Friedan
Publication date: 1963
Score: 30
Summary: In The Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan, born in 1921, disparaged traditional stay-at-home motherhood as life in “a comfortable concentration camp”–a role that degraded women and denied them true fulfillment in life. She later became founding president of the National Organization for Women. Her original vocation, tellingly, was not stay-at-home motherhood but left-wing journalism. As David Horowitz wrote in a review for Salon.com of Betty Friedan and the Making of the Feminine Mystique by Daniel Horowitz (no relation to David): The author documents that “Friedan was from her college days, and until her mid-30s, a Stalinist Marxist, the political intimate of the leaders of America’s Cold War fifth column and for a time even the lover of a young Communist physicist working on atomic bomb projects in Berkeley’s radiation lab with J. Robert Oppenheimer.”

8. The Course of Positive Philosophy
Author: Auguste Comte
Publication date: 1830-1842
Score: 28
Summary: Comte, the product of a royalist Catholic family that survived the French Revolution, turned his back on his political and cultural heritage, announcing as a teenager, “I have naturally ceased to believe in God.” Later, in the six volumes of The Course of Positive Philosophy, he coined the term “sociology.” He did so while theorizing that the human mind had developed beyond “theology” (a belief that there is a God who governs the universe), through “metaphysics” (in this case defined as the French revolutionaries’ reliance on abstract assertions of “rights” without a God), to “positivism,” in which man alone, through scientific observation, could determine the way things ought to be.

9. Beyond Good and Evil
Author: Freidrich Nietzsche
Publication date: 1886
Score: 28
Summary: An oft-scribbled bit of college-campus graffiti says: “‘God is dead’–Nietzsche” followed by “‘Nietzsche is dead’–God.” Nietzsche’s profession that “God is dead” appeared in his 1882 book, The Gay Science, but under-girded the basic theme of Beyond Good and Evil, which was published four years later. Here Nietzsche argued that men are driven by an amoral “Will to Power,” and that superior men will sweep aside religiously inspired moral rules, which he deemed as artificial as any other moral rules, to craft whatever rules would help them dominate the world around them. “Life itself is essentially appropriation, injury, overpowering of the strange and weaker, suppression, severity, imposition of one’s own forms, incorporation and, at the least and mildest, exploitation,” he wrote. The Nazis loved Nietzsche.

10. General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money
Author: John Maynard Keynes
Publication date: 1936
Score: 23
Summary: Keynes was a member of the British elite–educated at Eton and Cambridge–who as a liberal Cambridge economics professor wrote General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money in the midst of the Great Depression. The book is a recipe for ever-expanding government. When the business cycle threatens a contraction of industry, and thus of jobs, he argued, the government should run up deficits, borrowing and spending money to spur economic activity. FDR adopted the idea as U.S. policy, and the U.S. government now has a $2.6-trillion annual budget and an $8-trillion dollar debt.

America is about to go psychotic!
By, Jenny Hatch August 2004
Warning
Dropping “cold turkey” off any medication, most especially mind altering medications, can often be MORE DANGEROUS than staying on the drugs. Tapering off very, very, very slowly- over months, not just weeks, has proven the safest and most effective method of withdrawal from this type of medication, thereby giving the body time to readjust its own chemical levels.
American Psychosis
With the recent FDA inquiries into Anti-depressants and the resulting news coverage, many of those who are taking Anti-depressants may feel a desire to stop taking their medication. Those of us in the Psychiatric survivors movement are deeply concerned about this happening. I decided to take the time to write this article to share some good information with those individuals who want to wean off of their medications.
Ann Blake Tracy, author of Prozac, Panacea or Pandora has documented the manic reactions that can take place when one quickly stops taking Anti-depressants. Her International Coalition for Drug Awareness has set up a great web site to help educate the consumer about these types of drug withdrawal symptoms. She has put together a tape to educate how to safely withdraw.
And her web site has a free email newsletter to educate consumers.
The reason I titled this piece, America is about to go psychotic, is simply because since 9-11-2001 the numbers of Americans taking Anti-depressants has skyrocketed. Inevitably some of these individuals will reach a place where they feel a desire to come off of the meds, and it will be at this juncture that they will learn the sad, sorry, truth about Anti-Depressants. These drugs are extremely difficult to get off of!
I have not taken one pill in the past fourteen years, yet I believe I am STILL struggling with some of these symptoms after being overmedicated for a post partum psychosis! More particularly, I have noted a mild short-term memory loss, which is completely random in how it manifests in my mind. And this memory loss has been quite embarrassing at times.
Here is a list of the most common withdrawal reactions reported by Patients:
Insomnia;
Vivid and violent dreams; Inability to detect dreams from reality (the world takes on an other-worldly aspect);
No emotions;
Inability to feel guilt or cry;
Nausea;
Loss of Appetite;
Rash;
Breathing or Lung Problems;
Heart Fluttering;
Shaking – jerkiness;
Memory Impairment;
Hair loss;
Blurred vision or pressure behind the eyes;
Inability to discontinue use of drug and increasing own dose;
Craving for alcohol, sweets, and other substances or drinking large amounts of alcohol, coffee or other caffeinated drinks, diet pop with NutraSweet, etc…;
Headaches;
Swelling and/or pain in joints;
Burning or tingling in extremities;
Muscle Twitching or contractions;
Tongue numbness and slurred speech;
Sweating;
Dizzyness; Confusion;
Chills or cold sweats;
Muscle weakness;
Extreme Fatigue;
Diabetes or hypoglycemia;
Lowered immune system;
Seizures or convulsions;
Weight gain or weight loss;
Mood swings; altered personality;
Symptoms of Mania, For example: Inability to sit still or restlessness, racing thoughts, acting silly or giddy (like a teenager again), sexual promiscuity leading to unwanted pregnancy or divorce, irresponsibility, wild spending sprees, gambling, criminal behavior, shoplifting, embezzling, stealing, hostility, etc.;
Deceitfulness; blank staring; inability to see any alternatives in situations;
Hyperactivity;
Aggressive or violent behavior;
Wanting to ram other cars or driving irrationally;
Impulsive behavior with no concern about consequences;
Numbness in various body parts – legs go numb and right out from under patient or sexual organs go numb making orgasm impossible;
Pulling away from loved ones and others (isolating oneself);
Divorce;
No desire to be touched;
Paranoia;
Falsely accusing others of abuse – family members or acquaintances;
Loss of spirituality; Feeling “possessed” or that something evil is inside;
Self Destructive behavior and suicidal ideation; suicidal attempts;
Muscle Tremors; loss of co-ordination;
Mania;
Psychosis.
Go Here for detailed list of symptoms.
It is these final two symptoms Mania and Psychosis, which seem to become extremely heightened when a “cold turkey” approach is taken by a patient, especially if they have struggled with an alcohol addiction, been taking other types of psychoactive drugs, and eat a typical American refined sugar based diet.
If you are someone who has been diagnosed with manic-depression and/or Diabetes AFTER taking anti-depressants, most likely these horrible illnesses are a side effect from taking the drugs. Some patients would give just about anything to go back to being depressed once in a while rather than suffer from a life long diabetic condition, or deal with the debilitating horror of manic-depression.
Here is an excerpt from Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? “The rest of the story on the new class of SSRI Antidepressants (Prozac, Zoloft, Lovan, Luvox, and more) by Ann Blake Tracy.
This excerpt describes what is happening chemically in the body when Prozac is ingested.
P.166- 168 Second Edition 1994
“Later on in this chapter we will discuss in detail a Yale study published in March 1991. Psychiatrists at Yale Medical School’s Child Study Center where researchers observed the incidence of intense Self-destructive thoughts in adolescents on Prozac who were given the drug because of Obsessive – Compulsive Disorders. Dr. Robert King and Dr. Mark Riddle led the research and believe that the disruption of serotonin production by Prozac “may directly affect the brain’s ability to regulate aggression.”.
When we consider the fact that when used on a regular basis it more than doubles the flow of adrenalin, the fight or flight hormone, that concept is certainly easy to believe. What on earth are we setting ourselves up for if one of the most popular drugs on the market is affecting a patient’s ability to regulate aggression? How many more jails, prisons, morgues, etc, will we need to cope with this type of situation?
Various mind altering drugs can distort orientation toward the immediate present and cause disregard for long range consequences of his/her behavior thereby making it difficult for him/her to premeditate criminal acts. Yet these drugs can also produce a tendency to react strongly to sensory stimuli in the immediate environment, and develop an inclination to refer everything to oneself that often develops into paranoia, all this combined with the need to move or do something due to intense psychomotor stimulation can all produce an aggression-prone individual leading to the serious akathisia reactions.
Akathisia needs to be addressed in far more depth than it has previously in conjunction with the violence associated with Prozac or any other psychiatric “medication”. This type of drug reaction is one that the public has generally associated only with illegal drugs, not with prescription drugs.
Deseryl, the tricyclic antidepressants, the neuroleptics, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO’s) and the new group of serotonin uptake inhibitors (Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Lovan, Luvox, etc..) are all known to produce this potentially violent form of inner restlessness known as Akathisia. All of these drugs powerfully enhance serotogenic and/or nonadrenergic transmission. Some researchers believe that akathisia is caused by an enhancement of the adrenergic receptors in the brain activating the fight or flight response, or as in the case of the drugs which affect serotonin, the 5HT serotonin enhances dopamine release.
When serotonergic transmission is enhanced, that in turn is believed to inhibit the dopaminergic neurons. Akathisia would then be produced when the dopaminergic neurotransmission is impaired. As we learned in discussing the effects of higher levels of serotonin upon the glandular system, higher serotonin levels consistently increase the blood levels of ACTH and the adrenalin, cortisol. We also know that serotonin stimulates the hypothalamus/adrenal/cortical axis which, in turn, causes adrenal releases, ie. “an enhancement of the adrenergic system”
It also bears repeating that one single dose of 30 mg of Prozac clearly doubles cortisol (adrenalin) levels. If one single dose cause this drastic rise in adrenalin, the fight or flight reaction, what kind of increase can be expected when Prozac is used in more than one single dose as patients take it on a daily basis? Prozac has also been demonstrated to increase the release of CRF, indicating an accompanying increase in ACTH and cortisol levels. This excess adrenalin or adrenalin rush would explain the “warm flush” (similar to the hot flashes brought on by menopause as the hormones become imbalanced) which patients so often report feeling just before committing murder or other violent acts or a suicide attempt while on Prozac.
As I said before, from the beginning it appeared obvious to me that Prozac was Causing elevated levels of adrenalin (epinephrine) to activate the “fight or flight” response which, in turn, produced the feelings of uncontrollable rage patients were reporting. The information we have reviewed thus far should make it quite clear that if the corticosteroids are stimulated that the adrongenic steroids are as well. For instance, it has long been known that higher levels of Testosterone will induce violent behavior.
A study done by Kreuz and Rose, 1972, discovered a significant correlation between the testosterone levels and violence among prisoners. The five with the highest steroid levels had a combined total of two murders, one attempted murder, one assault, and four armed robberies which they had committed. A more recent and even wider study of over 4000 military men found that those with the higher steroid levels more frequently committed assault, abused alcohol and other drugs, were absent without leave and in general ended up in more trouble.”
Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? P. 166 – 168 2nd Ed.
Trouble, more and more trouble, that is what I see in the future as those who have been taking these drugs to deal with the unknowns of Terrorism start to come off of their medications. I would challenge you the reader of this article to get a copy of Dr. Tracy’s book and do an indepth study on just what exactly these drugs have done to our society. It is mind boggling to consider the future.
I have often wondered if my own drug use during my teens laid the foundation for my post partum psychosis. I never, not once, took an illegal street drug, but I was one of the most medicated people around, constantly taking antihistamines (at one point I was so addicted to Actifed, I could not sleep without taking it). I used cortisone like a hand cream, (cortisone has been completely tied to psychosis and although my use was always topical on the skin, fourteen years of daily use had to have a toxic effect on my body). I did so many rounds of antibiotics for the many lung infections I was plagued with that it took me ten years of colon cleansing and almost daily acidophilus consumption to overcome the yeast overgrowth I suffered from. My lifelong suffering from excema on my hands and face has finally been overcome, but it took some major effort.
My Own Experience With Drug Withdrawal…
I have often said to myself that the most difficult thing I have ever done is come off of Prozac. My drug experience is somewhat unique as I was very clear before and after that I did not want to be medicated for my psychosis. While I was taking the drugs I was so doped up and confused it was difficult to know what was best. Because of the court order, I was on high doses of two heavyduty medications, Stelazine and Lithium. A few months after being on toxic doses of these drugs I was so depressed I ASKED my psychiatrist to put me on an Anti-Depressant. That is so ironic to me now, as I am completely against psyche medications in all forms being used on anyone.
My psychiatrist recommended a new drug called Prozac, which had been on the market for about two years. This was in 1989, when only a couple of whistle blowers were reporting adverse reactions to anti-depressants. I took all three medications faithfully for a few weeks and then with my doctors support came off Lithium cold turkey as I thought I might be pregnant. Lithium is a known baby deformer. A few months after this, I went into a heightened suicidal state, which required a five-day hospitalization.
While in the psyche hospital the doctors decided to take me off Stelazine, but doubled my Prozac dose. For the next few months I experienced a range of the above mentioned symptoms, the most troubling of which was a sexual dysfunction that left both me and my husband very frustrated. I had huge blood sugar swings, which developed into a serious hypoglycemic state, and found myself very isolated emotionally having no desire or energy to seek out other people or participate in life. I spent most of my time lying on the couch watching television.
A few months later on this high dose of Prozac, I went into my local pharmacy to refill my prescription for Prozac and saw the book Talking back to Prozac by Peter Breggin MD. I purchased it and spent a few weeks reading it. I was startled to see his list of common side effects from this drug and realize that I had many of them, including suicidal ideation and violent thoughts and feelings, especially regarding hurting myself.
In the spring of 1990 I walked into my local library and right at eye level was the drug I was taking four times a day. That Prozac capsule was splashed right across the cover of a Newsweek magazine, and to illustrate how my mind was functioning at the time, I took the magazine over to the copier, copied all four pages, put the magazine back, put the article in my book bag, and went home and completely forgot about it for a few days.
Then when I saw it and decided to read it and it took me four hours to wade through those few pages of text. While the article was mostly positive about this new wonder drug, something about the message of the text struck a nerve in me and I decided to ask my psychiatrist if she would help me wean off of this drug. I had an internal sense that I was at a cross roads with my health and that if I did not take the opportunity and time to wean off the drug soon, that I might find myself tied to it or other drugs like it for a long, long time.
I was fortunate to be working with a female psychiatrist who was quite educated about Post Partum emotional illness and from the very first visit was comforted that she seemed to know so much and was willing to support me in whatever choices I made regarding my own health. She also had put me on natural progesterone, which we purchased out of pocket from a Wisconsin clinic as my insurance company would not compensate us the $50.00 it cost us every month for me to take it. I believe this natural hormone therapy was very effective in helping to keep my manic symptoms under control while I was on Prozac.
However, as I weaned off of the medication, I experienced a short but heightened manic response during the months of my weaning. And we took it very, very gradually, weaning down to taking one pill a week. If I had it to do over again, I would have put in a supply of Young Living Essential oils Peace and Calming oil blend to help me with the mania and insomnia I suffered from during this time. I would have taken daily baths in this oil to help with the mania. But Young Living didn’t exist back in 1990, and what I used to help me during the critical time was the natural progesterone, some Chinese herbs and Homeopathic remedies prescribed by my Osteopath.
One night my mind was just racing, almost as bad as when I was psychotic, and I took a triple dose of the progesterone. I could feel it taking me down level by level, until by about 3AM I was able to rest without feeling like I was jumping out of my skin. I had a sense that this was a reaction to coming off the medication, and just let my body feel what it needed to feel without freaking too much that I was losing my mind, but it was very, very difficult.
In May of 1990 I took my final dose of Prozac, and then it felt as if my mind exploded. I started to FEEL, and what I was FEELING was not so nice. I believe all of the suppressed emotion of the past fourteen months just bubbled up out of me, and spilled out all over my husband and family. I cried, I raged, I yelled, and I ached. My body ached, my muscles ached, and I just hurt all over. The first week was the most difficult. After that it lessened with each week, until finally I was able to feel a sense of normality. My sexuality went back to normal and I was able to feel emotional highs and lows again. I would cry, and then laugh because it felt so good to cry. I would feel joy and be overwhelmed by that sensation coursing through my emotional body, when it had been suppressed for so long.
The main message I would like to convey to you the reader is if you decide to come of your medications, please do it with your doctor’s approval and help, and PLEASE, do it gradually.
I was able to wean, without being forced to go back on some other drug, and freed myself of the bondage that had been thrust upon me by a power-tripping judge in a Michigan court. The past fourteen years I have been able to give birth to four additional children.
They are my joy! I have not fallen into the pit of psychosis, and although at times I have suffered from extreme emotional distress from life events, I have learned and mastered the tools to help my body and mind when struggling emotionally. The most important of these Tools, completely validated by Dr. Tracy’s book, is a proper amount of sleep every night. I go to extreme lengths to be certain that I get enough rest. I outlined additional helps, tips, and tools for preventing mania and psychosis in my book, A Mother’s Journey.
It is my prayer that if you are someone who has been taking these medications and has a desire to wean off of them, you will do it wisely, slowly, and without too much distress. And if someone in your life has been taking these drugs, and they decide to come off of them, please take the time to educate them about the potential for psychosis and mania if they come off the drugs too quickly.

American C-section rate….still climbing
Trends in C-section rates in America
Quote
Objective
This report presents trends in cesarean rates for low-risk women, in relation to the Healthy People 2010 objectives. A low risk woman has a full term (at least 37 completed weeks of gestation) singleton pregnancy (not a multiple pregnancy) with vertex fetal presentation (head facing in a downward position in the birth canal). Data for the United States showing trends by maternal age, race, and Hispanic origin are presented.
Highlights
Cesarean rates for low-risk women having a first birth, and repeat cesarean rates, increased between 1996 and 2003 to the highest rates ever reported for low-risk women in the United States. Rates increased similarly for low-risk women of all ages and racial and ethnic groups.
Other findings include
The widespread increase in the cesarean rate for low-risk women supports the idea that the indications for cesarean delivery have changed.
Twenty-four percent of first births to low risk women in 2003 were cesarean births, an increase of one-third since 1996.
The rate of repeat cesarean delivery increased by more than one fourth, from 70 to 89 percent during this time period. Therefore, in 2003, only 11 percent of low-risk women who had a previous cesarean went on to have a subsequent vaginal delivery.”

BIRD FLU ALTERNATIVE REMEDIES
Bird Flu – Alternative Remedies
Reading articles on the Avian flu these past few weeks I had the feeling that the presidents meeting with the Vaccine Manufacturers went something like this…
“Uh, Mr. President, the emperor has no clothes”. (The Vaccines won’t work)
“Well, buy him some!”
“But President Bush, that fat, toxic, pompous man, who has been ruling the infectious disease roost has finally been exposed to be nothing more than a fraud. Don’t you think that rather than buying him some new clothes, it might be better for him to slink away in naked shame, rather than outfitting him up as an overdressed pimp?”
…Often in life the best defense is a good offense. Rather than waiting for the powers that be to tell us the flu vaccine is not going to work, and the Tamiflu drug is not really effective on the Avian virus, I believe concerned citizens would be well served to spend some quality time working on strengthening their own immunity. More on offensive measures that can be taken in a minute, but first…
We have had quite a few SCREAMING headlines these past few weeks:
“The Senate has approved nearly $4 billion to stockpile medications to protect the populace against the threat of a flu pandemic.”
“estimated Roche will receive $1.7 billion to $1.8 billion from the U.S government to produce Tamiflu”
This CNN article had this interesting disclaimer: “The analysts interviewed for this story do not own stock in the companies mentioned here.”
“There is an astonishing collection of poisons, toxic metals, chemical binders, and animal parts and juices in vaccines.”
As a consumer, I have been wondering what it is going to take to help our people understand that poison does not heal anything. Sure, you can jolt or treat an individual’s immune system with poison, chemicals, and toxic ingredients, but to actually heal damaged tissue, cleanse blood, and nurture a sick body back to wellness? Those goals are best achieved with nutrition and natural healing. Natural healing seeks to cleanse the body at the cellular level, moving toxins out of cells and nutrients back into cells.
Perhaps millions of Americans dying anyway, after all the drugs money can buy will shift the tide away from poison medicine to natural healing. Just take a look at the ingredients included in the over-advertised and under effective Tamiflu.
“Tamiflu indgredients:
• Black iron oxide (E172)
• Croscarmellose Sodium
• FD and C Blue 2 (indigo carmine, E132)
• Gelatin
• Oseltamivir
• Povidone
• Pregelatinised maize starch
• Red iron oxide (E172)
• Shellac
• Sodium Stearyl Fumarate
• Talc
• Titanium dioxide (E171)
• Yellow iron oxide (E172)”
The reluctance of our pharmaceutical companies to get involved in flu vaccine manufacturing perhaps is tied to an increasing awareness that some individuals develop serious neurological side effects from taking the chemicals.
“About one half of patients have a history of preceding viral infection within two to four weeks prior to exhibiting the onset of Guillain-Barré syndrome. Guillain-Barré syndrome may also be associated with immunizations…”
“For years evidence has been mounting linking the Flu vaccine to serious neurological side effects. There have been occasional cases involving influenza vaccines causing Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) and other autoimmune conditions.
Guillain-Barré syndrome is a disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system. The first symptoms of this disorder include varying degrees of weakness or tingling sensations in the legs. In many instances, the weakness and abnormal sensations spread to the arms and upper body. These symptoms can increase in intensity until the muscles cannot be used at all and the patient is almost totally paralyzed.”
I appreciate President Bush. I voted for him twice. I am still grateful he is our commander in chief. I understand and am grateful for his proactive steps in sharing information on the Bird flu and attempting to stem the tide of disease before a pandemic rages around the world. I know him to be an honest man. I think he truly believes the taxpayer money spent on upping the stockpiles of vaccines and anti-viral medicine is a great investment in the health of the American People.
If we as a people really wanted to ward off infectious disease we would focus on those measures that would strengthen immunity. Vaccines have a troubled history and presently many parents are questioning all of the chemicals being shot into the tissues of a healthy person in order to “provoke” the immune response. Many of the ingredients included in the flu vaccines are toxic.
As a parent to five unvaccinated children, I have spent years looking for ways to strengthen the immunity of my family. Here are some suggestions for anyone interested in doing some proactive things to help prevent getting any disease:
Skip Halloween
American Schoolchildren eating buckets of candy the week before the flu season starts is the absolute worst tradition of our society. For years our family stayed home and watched a movie and ate a home baked treat on Halloween night. The one year I caved to the continual whining to let the children go trick or treating everyone got the flu a couple weeks later. I let our children eat as much candy as they desired the night of Halloween and then I chucked the left over candy in the garbage.
A couple weeks later all five of them quickly descended into the whole range of symptoms. I detailed the experience in this article on the web.
A couple weeks ago when I informed my children that we would be skipping Halloween they were surprisingly amenable to the decision. I explained that we didn’t have the luxury of dumping all that sugar into our bodies with this threat of the Avian Flu looming. My eleven year old son complained a little, and I just reminded him of how sick he was the year we ate all the candy and he agreed this was a better choice.
Eat live foods!
Feed your family a fresh garden salad every day. The fall harvest is in, and vegetables are overflowing in the markets. Get a variety of colors of vegetables, chop them up and feed them raw to your kids with a yummy dressing.
Juice those same vegetables! Purchase apples, lemons, carrot, beet, celery, and cukes and juice them with some fresh greens like spinach, kale, and parsley at home for an abundance of live enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and help with proper hydration of the cells.
WATER!
Have a stock of water bottles in your home and car and make sure no one in your family leaves for the day without taking a couple of bottles to work, school, or play. Encourage your children to drink water before eating a heavy meal to help with proper digestion and hydration. Staying well hydrated during the flu season will help to prevent you getting it, and will also aid in your recovery if you do get it. Have some water simmering on the stove to put moisture in the air, or run a humidifier in your home to help with humidity in your home.
Fresh fruit
Keep your fridge stocked with fresh fruit chopped up and ready to eat. This is the perfect food for between meals, and also is great to snack on if you are ill. The fruit helps to cleanse the bowels and hydrate the cells.
If anyone in your family gets the flu:
Garlic
Eat garlic. Chop it up and put it in a little cloth wrap around your neck, put garlic in soups, on garlic toast, eat a clove of it raw, or smash it up and put it on your salad. Juice a clove of it with your vegetable juice or put a half a clove under your tongue and suck on it like a cough drop throughout the day.
Chop up three cloves of garlic and mix with Olive Oil. Paste this mix on your feet and hold it in place with some socks. This is an especially powerful treatment for children who are having trouble breathing. A very large bag of fresh garlic at Sam’s Club costs about four bucks.
Stay home!
Rest, sleep, nap, and patiently wait for your body to heal itself. If you feel the flu coming on, go to the grocery store and purchase a supply of fresh foods and bottled water. Also purchase the ingredients to make this powerhouse of a garlic soup, and then stay home!
Jenny’s Flu Soup:
2 onions
2 bulbs of garlic (about 20 cloves)
2 tablespoons sea salt
½ cup olive oil
¼ cup oatstraw tea (you may need to go to a health food store to get this)
2 tablespoons flax seed
¼ c Red Raspberry leaf tea
½ cup quinoa
1 cup brown lentils
½ cup sprouted brown lentils
2 potatoes
10 large carrots
1 tsp cumin
10 whole coriander seeds
Thyme and Oregano Essential Oils
Dried herbs of Thyme, Oregano, and Parsley
Directions for soup:
Cook onions, garlic, and olive oil in a pot. Add in chopped potatoes, carrots, and one Tablespoon of the sea salt. Let this cook for a few minutes, then add in the Quinoa, and sprouted lentils. (Sprouted lentils have the highest concentration of vitamin C of any food). To sprout lentils just cover a half cup of them with water over night. Drain in the morning and keep them wet until a ¼ inch tendril of sprout is detected. (This takes about 35 hours)
Fill a separate pot with two quarts of water to make soup stock. Add in the peels from the garlic, flaxseed, oatstraw, raspberry leaf tea, one tablespoon of the sea salt, and the peels from the carrots and potatoes. Bring the stock up to a hard boil for twenty minutes.
Cover the cup of brown lentils with water in a bowl. After soaking them for a few minutes, add the lentils and the water to the soup.
After the stock is finished boiling, strain the liquid into the soup pot. Recover the stock vegetables with another 2 quarts of water, and bring to a boil. Once again, strain the stock vegetables and add that liquid to the pot of soup. This ensures that the maximum amount of nutrients from the herbs, vegetable peels, and salt will be included in the stock. This stock is chock full of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals.
Add in the ten whole Coriander seeds. Cover the pot and let simmer for three hours.
To finish the soup, add in the drops of Essential oils of Thyme and Oregano (one or two drops of each) – Therapeutic grade oils are best and then toss in the dried herbs.

Musings on Iraq and the 2000 death count. NOBLES mock but BRAVEHEARTS keep fighting!
“Most of the major ills of the world have been caused by
well-meaning people who ignored the principle of individual
freedom, except as applied to themselves, and who were obsessed
with fanatical zeal to improve the lot of mankind.”
—Henry Grady Weaver
This is such a red letter day, with possible indictments coming for members of the presidents staff (all because of a lie), the 2000th dead American Soldier in Iraq being politicized by the Nobles in our society, and additional evidence that Mr. Galloway is a bald faced liar…
Why write about this on a Natural Parenting Blog?
I figure standing up for Iraqs freedom is a way for me to stand up for my own. When we support Freedom lovers in other countries, this has a positive effect on our own “eternal vigilance“. Patriots understand that this vigilance is the price to be paid for our Liberty.
I have followed all of it closely, written about it extensively, and was even banned from a political board because of my strongly worded views. When I joined the Mothering.com chat room in the summer of 2004 I was severly reprimanded for my writing style in the first week by Web Moderator Cynthia Mosher. Then I tried to stiffle myself for a couple weeks and after posting a strongly worded and “inciteful to liberals” thread about Bill Clinton being very aware of the WMD in Iraq, I was suspended from the board for a time. (Please take a sec to read the transcript from then president Clinton, it makes this whole “no WMD” thing so much smoke and mirrors.)
After a month or so I wrote to Cynthia and asked if I could chime in again. She gave me a “one strike and your out” warning and allowed me to come back on as UCMOM on the mothering boards. I did OK, really tried to control my language, and my words to make sure I wrote nothing inflammatory, no personal attacks, etc…
I felt that the board was so one-sided in terms of liberals being given near free license to say whatever they wanted while Conservatives were being disciplined daily. On the eve of the election for Bush’s 2nd term I was gloating a little, and some people were so mad at me they posted some nasty things and were given one month suspensions as discipline. I was grateful for the balance and stayed a part of the board for another month or so.
The week of the January Iraq election, I started a thread titled “one month cyber celebration of the Iraq election” I wanted to share in the joy of our Iraqi friends as they chose their founders to write the Iraq Constitution. I was immediately flamed by several long time liberal writers on the board (who are all still a part of it and STILL spouting the party line BTW).
On that friday before the election, I finally realized that I had had enough. I knew Sunday’s Iraq election was going to be a total success, I knew that none of our soldiers had died in vain, I knew that this was the beginning of the end for the Terrorists, and I knew then as I know now that every drop of blood that had been spilt had been worth it.
So I sat down and just typed everything that was in my head. I just let it pour out of me. Within minutes of replying, the thread had been pulled, and later that day I received an email from Cynthia Mosher informing me of my permanent banning, and it was over.
I knew it would be. I had no doubt that this would be the result of me writing those words.
The words I wrote on that cold january morning, words that bubbled up after months of frustrating conversation and debate, STILL resonate in my mind and in my heart, and so I share them with you here today, along with an explanatory post that I made at Free Republic as well as Cynthia’s email banning me…
Quote from Free Republic post:
“What really got me and the other conservative mothers was the double standard. My threads were constantly being pulled, closed for “review” so no one else could post to them, and all of us felt like the liberal moms could say whatever they wanted and we had to constantly self censor out of fear of being banned or disciplined.
I wanted to tell those gals who were the moderators that if we ever did get completely socialized in America they should look for work as thought police because they had the job down pat.
I had started a thread the week before the Iraq election (it has been pulled) titled the “One week long cyber party for the Iraq election”. I just knew the Iraqi people were going to vote in mass and that the election was going to be a terrific success. I was immediately flamed and although the mods told people to be respectful of my “party” certain posters just could not resist dumping all their garbage on my thread. Finally, I just had it, and said what I thought.
I called them “Nobles” like the nobles in Braveheart. And that is what they are.
My post is preceeded by my banning notice from the main moderator of the site (Whom I actually like and respect and consider a friend – she let me back on the site after my first banning when I pleaded with her to give me another chance. I promised that I would tone down my rhetoric, and I really tried, but with this post, I just let them have it, because I was tired of having to censor myself when everyone else could say whatever they wanted)
In terms of her claim that I was “insulting” to others on the board, please note that I was insulted in a dozen different ways, every day that I participated on that board – I guess free speech means that liberals can insult us with their flag burning and their screaming and their defilement of everything we hold sacred, but when we call them on it and hold up a mirror to show them as the hippocrites that they are, well, that is insulting and will not be tolerated…”
Disclaimer:
“Although I have been permanently banned from participating on the Motheringdotcommune message board, I am still in complete support and solidarity with the goals of Mothering magazine, the lifestyle they promote, and the information they monthly share with readers through their magazine. I live the Natural Lifestyle they espouse with my own family. The main purpose of my blog is to encourage families to live a more natural lifestyle….that being said, here is Cynthia’s email followed by the post that got me banned…”
Jenny, in light of past issues, your past suspension, your subsequent
warnings and alerts, and your ongoing issues with this community I am
closing your account. I have made numerous attempts to justify and defend
your membership here and have stood up to many longtime, devoted and sincere
MDC members in that regard which may have cost me much of their respect. I
can do so no longer. Your most recent post (copy below) speaks very clearly
of your feelings and attitude. MDC is not your community and posts of this
nature are of no community benefit. In fact such words are destructive and
insulting to a community such as ours.
Best wishes and good bye Jenny.

And the post:
“Mommiska,
The great lie has started. I thought it would come after the election, but
with your post, I think we can safely say it is here. What is this lie?
“we were for the freedom of the Iraqi people all along. We always wanted
them to have the rights of self determination. We just didn’t want anyone to
die in the process. We have always been willing to do whatever it took to
support freedom, after all, we are liberals. We are for free speech.
etc.etc.etc….”
This is what I think about the various anti-war threads that have been the
bulk of this board for as long as I have been here.
When president Bush said right after 9-11 “you are either for us or against
us, you either stand with tyranny or you stand with freedom, I took him at
his word. I have never thought the war was about oil profits or Halliburton.
This war was America drawing a line in the sand and simply saying we claim
the right to defend ourselves, to defend our financial interests, to defend
our people, and to defend liberty.
This was a strong stance and it offended lots of people. When the anti-war
demonstrations were taking place in the lead up to the war in Iraq, Sadaam
and all his cohorts in tyranny were watching very closely. They felt they
had the will of the people with them.
When in fact what they had with them were those countries who had a
financial stake in the status quo with them, and a whole lot of gullible
demonstrators who were being organized by Communists, and didn’t even know
it, and who were acting as the useful idiots that tyrants like Sadaam have
used so successfully over the ages.
I have been thinking all morning of a way to illustrate how I see the people
on this board who have a compulsion to share all the bad news every day, day
in and day out, pointing out all mistakes, all mis-steps, all the tragic
deaths, etc etc… And for the record, I have been quite aware of all of the
bad news. And I mourn with the families of both Iraqis and Americans who
have lost loved ones….
The best analogy I can think of is that those who are so dutiful in pointing
out all the negatives of the war are like the Nobles in Braveheart.
These fair weather traitors who would stand in the middle of Tyranny and
Freedom. Who lived comfortably off the sweat and blood of the peasants,
would place themselves front and center in the grey area between Freedom and
Slavery, and whichever way the wind was blowing they would turn, attempting
to gain a measure of fame, comfort, and ease while those who understood the
cost of Freedom did the actual fighting. They were happy to betray when it
was in their own best interests.
Think of that scene in Braveheart when Wallace loses his faith and hope in
the fight. He holds up the flag to call in the nobles calvalry, and they
turn and walk away….just walk away. And thousands were slaughtered. I’ll
never forget the look on Wallace’s face in that moment of the movie. Mel
Gibson captured it perfectly. It was utter astonishment, and disbelief that
such a betrayal could take place.
A similar betrayal took place in Viet Nam when our soldiers walked away and
2 million Cambodians were murdered. John Kerry had said it would be maybe
5,000. No it was 2,000,000 people.
Now as you nobles go about your business of playing it down the middle, or
walking both sides of tyranny and freedom, just know that I know who you
are. When you feel the temptation to say after the election…”well this is
what I wanted all along” just know, that I will be watching, and will know
who you are in your heart.
Unless if you are willing right now today, to stand and be counted before
the Iraqi election and say, “I was wrong. I wish I had seen it more
clearly. I am sorry for the lives my stance cost. I am sorry for the blood
on my treasonous hands”
Unless if you are willing to courageously stand and make this statement, do
not for one minute think you can have it both ways next week. Do not think
that you can write and post and add links and say, “Hey, I have always been
for the troops, I have just been against how it was done. Or, I was always
for Democracy, I just didn’t want anyone to die, or I was always for
Freedom, I just wanted to sound like I knew something, and have my right to
say something stupid and ineffective WITHOUT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR MY
WORDS…”
Just know that I understand who you are, Traitors, who have systematically
engaged in treasonous behavior and work during the war. As you have given
aid and comfort to the enemy during this time of war, know that I know in my
heart you have blood on your hands. You have enboldened our enemies during
the war. You have caused the death of innocent men, women, and children,
mostly from the country of Iraq who have been killed by terrorists who have
been working feverishly to kill the will of the American Populace at home.
They have not killed my will. They have not killed the will of our military,
and they Will not kill the will of this president. May God bless him for his
stance, for his clarity, for his willingness to stand strong.
And may those of you who toss hand grenades of disbelief, sarcasm, and
pompous Nobility slunk away to your latte’s and your porn and your secular
humanistic nothing……the world is ACHING for freedom and some of us are
willing to fight for it. I am not a soldier, but I would be willing for my
children to fight in this war, and die in this war. And if you were to use
my child’s blood for your own selfish Noble stance and I saw you in person I
would spit in your eye.
I cringe for any of you who may come in contact with a true patriot mother
whose child has died. They hold you and every contemptuous position you
promote in complete horror and dread. You who willfully rebel against the
truth. I hope you can have the humbling experience of meeting up with one of
these mother’s one day so you can begin to understand the wrongs that you
have committed all in the name of supposedly standing for a moral position.
Your morality is nothing. It is a great big wind bag full of nothing. And
again, as you prepare to put on the mask of “but I was for this all
along…in the coming weeks and month….just know, I hold you all in
complete contempt as an enemy to freedom.
Jenny”
I pray that the truth will set the nations of the world free.
Please, “powers that be”, Please, indict Galloway, put Wilson away for perjury, expose more fully oil for food, and American Media….would you please just get the Iraq story right??? For once, would you just do the right thing, and focus on what is really important, true, and relevant???
We should have had screaming headlines yesterday triumphing over the Iraq Election: Hundreds of Media stories heralding in the new constitution.
Instead it was all Rove, Cheney, and Plame, Plame, Plame all over the news.
This sham politicizing of bogus charges, distraction from what is truly important, and media hyping is so sickening to me.
The important thing to remember about the anti-war demonstrators is this; Those who are part of the Anti-War movement come from a variety of camps.
The first and most obvious are those like Galloway who were being bribed to stand publicly with Sadaam.
The second group are made up of Communists and Socialists who are enraged that yet another Socialist economy and country has gone down the toilet.
The third are a group of people who believe for religious or ideological reasons that no one is ever justified in force. I actually have some respect for these people and their earnest desire to see the world made better through peaceful means. I believe they do have honest hearts.
The next and largest group of Anti-War demonstrators are misguided Americans, “Useful Idiots” to use Lenin’s term.
It was always surprising to me as I demonstrated at these last two Denver Freeps how many moonbats asked me why I had inked up my right index finger. They didn’t know anything about the elections. They had not heard that this was a symbol of Iraqi Freedom and Pride. As I talked to one anti-war demonstrator after another, it became obvious to me that most of these people had learned the “facts” about the Iraq War from Farenheit 9-11 and other leftist media and propoganda.
Another group of Anti-War demonstrators and speakers (which are not often considered by western thinkers) are simply those people who have been terrorized by Sadaam.
I have long wondered if UN inspector Scott Ritter falls into this catagory. Whenever someone makes an about face publicly as Ritter did, I figure either they were bribed or terrorized. (terrorized by words like – We’ll kill your grandma, run your daughter over with a truck, rape your wife, and our gestapo will kill you at some point if you don’t reverse yourself publicly about our WMD’s).
I don’t know that this happened of course, but if you google “Scott Ritter bribe”, you can get a sense of what the blogosphere has been saying about it for the past few years.
One of the reasons Sadaam was so effective at staying in power for thirty years was simply because he had no qualms about murdering anyone who stood in his way, and he knew how to control people around him. He simply raped, pillaged, and murdered to his hearts content.
Some stories I read talked about those who spoke to CNN before the war were not only murdered, but also thirty members of their immediate family were wiped out or imprisoned.
This has to have a lasting impact on the willingness of citizens to speak out to the media, and I believe it is still having an effect on the way some people speak to the American Press, on the way certain people voted in the last two elections, and on the distrust some Iraqis have for the Americans.
I believe all of these issues will be overcome when Sadaam is finally held responsible for his crimes and executed. And in time, some of the moonbats in America who have so willfully rebelled against the truth will be forced to admit they were wrong.
Some of them, like the die hards at Mothering, will never have the humility to face the truth. And some of our politicians who have been so willing to promote the lies of “no WMD”, “Halliburton”, “Joe Wilson and his wife are victims”, etc etc..will hopefully be held accountable by their voters and removed from office.
As the agendas, bribes, distortions, and conspiracies are exposed I believe the spread of Freedom and Democracy in our world will accelerate at an astonishing pace, and those who blindly believed the lies, who unquestioningly assumed the role of useful idiot, will silently slink away to the ash heap of history.
These types of people have contributed nothing, have screamed and ranted and raved while our servicemen and women have fought and died. And they have sickeningly used those deaths for their own political purposes.
It is getting close to the time when they will be exposed as the pompous nobles that they are. Al Franken, Cindy, Michael, Joe, Sadaam, Tyrants of the world….your time is up.
Today, right at this moment, the eye of the Hurricane is right over the white house. And as it rages, seemingly blowing apart President Bush’s credibility, choices, and stance, as the storm moves out to sea, and the quiet after the storm comes upon the people of the world, I hope that those with an honest heart will embrace the truth.
The truth being?
The new middle east belongs to Democracy lovers like Jesse Kaveh.
Jesse Kaveh – an Iraqi ex-pat who lost his parents when Sadaams goons stormed his home and murdered them in cold blood.

UPDATE:
Some amazing editorials were written yesterday on this topic…
Quote:
“It is also time to step up lecturing both the American people and the Iraqis on exactly what we are doing in the Sunni Triangle. We have been sleepwalking through the greatest revolutionary movement in the history of the Middle East, as the U.S. military is quietly empowering the once-despised Kurds and Shiites — and along with them women and the other formerly dispossessed of Iraq. In short, the U.S. Marine Corps has done more for global freedom and social justice in two years than has every U.N. peacekeeping mission since the inception of that now-corrupt organization.
This is high-stakes — and idealistic — stuff. And the more we talk in such terms, the more the president can put the onus of cynical realism on the peace movement and the corrupt forces in the Middle East, who alike wish us to fail. Forget acrimony over weapons of mass destruction, platitudes about abstract democracy, and arguments over U.S. security strategies. Instead bluntly explain to the world how at this time and at this moment the U. S. is trying to bring equality and freedom to the unfree, in a manner rare in the history of civilization.”
Quote:
“In other words, this was a victory for freedom in Iraq, a defeat for the terrorist opponents of America and democracy in Iraq, and a great boost for the security of Americans in the United States. Yet in reporting the events of October 26th, the editors of the Los Angeles Times (and – to be fair — the New York Times and the rest of the American mainstream media) did their best to obscure these momentous facts and to spin them in the opposite direction.
In two years, with less loss of life than we suffered on 9/11, America has liberated 25 million Iraqis, ended the most heinous tyranny of the 21st Century, inflicted terrible defeats on our terrorist enemies, and created the first democracy in the history of Islam.
The words of the President – of America’s commander-in-chief – mocked by the Times are 100% correct: “Iraq has made incredible political progress from tyranny to liberation to national elections.” Thanks to George Bush and our men and women in arms. Yet the Los Angeles Times edition of October 26, 2005 is designed to make a mockery of his leadership and his words and to turn to Americans against the war for Iraqi freedom. What a shame. What a disgrace. What a tragedy for our nation.”
