Conrad Valoi Hatch
Paul, Jeff, Andy, and Allison sang O My Father accompanied by Michelle at Pauls Dads Funeral. Â The hymn was sung to the tune of Come Thou Fount and this is the final run through they did the day before the funeral.
1922 ~ 2012
Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend returned home to his Heavenly Father April 29, 2012. He leaves behind a large posterity and a legacy of service, leadership and love. A son of Andrew Vernaldo and Elnora Kistena Olsen Hatch.
Conrad was born May 26, 1922 in Koosharem, Utah. He married Elva Oldroyd February 25, 1949 in the Manti LDS Temple. They are the parents of seven children.
Con attended BAC where he lettered in football and basketball, received the citizenship and male personality awards, and served as student body president. He received BS and MS degrees from BYU and was awarded a PhD in inorganic chemistry from Oregon State University. Conrad served 40 years at BAC-SUU in several academic positions including teacher, department chair, and academic vice president.
He served three years during World War II in the Army Air Force, including duty on the island of Guam. His service carried over into numerous positions in the community and in the LDS church. His church service included bishop, stake president, regional representative, temple president, and Primary teacher.
Con is survived by his children Dale (Danielle), Elaine, Lynn (Kris), Larry (Cheryl), Paul (Jenny), Anne (Stephen) Hunter and Linda (Lee) Wood. He is also survived by thirty seven grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren, sisters Vernelda Washburn, Leila Oldroyd, Vivian (Boyd) Mitchell,brother Glen (Jane) and sister-in-law Gay Hatch. Con was preceded in death by his eternal companion Elva, his parents, his brother Del Ray, and his granddaughter Sharlyn.
The family would like to thank his devoted daughter Elaine for her loving care, and express appreciation to Brenda, Taylor, and his other health care providers. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the Cedar City 2nd/9th/17th Ward Chapel 256 South 900 West. A viewing will be held in the Southern Utah Mortuary 190 North 300 West Friday, May 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 11:30 to 12:30 at the church. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers you may contribute to the Conrad Hatch Scholarship Fund at SUU or the Perpetual Education Fund for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Michele Bachmann dropped out of the race for the Presidency. Â She gave a great speech yesterday and outlined the reasons why she ran.
I endorsed her early and loudly in every sphere of influence I have, and am grateful she took the time, energy, and spent the money to run.
She put the words Crony Capitalism into the political debate, and that is something that has needed to be done for decades in America.

PS I will not be endorsing anyone else, I left the Colorado Republican party this past year and will not be participating in our caucus. Â As an Independent who leans Constitution party, I will decide right before the election who to vote for at the state and national level.

Christmas 2011
Our holiday has been quiet and filled with many hours of visiting, movies, cooking, and just enjoying each other. We did better with evening stories and singing than ever before and only skipped a few nights. Paul and all five of our children sang in the Christmas Program on sunday. I copied the music on my ipad and used the songs to make a movie – click here to watch.
