Paul and I sang in a Messiah Concert last saturday!

And here is a short 52 second clip from the Halleluia Chorus. Sorry for the nostril shot. I was holding the camera in my right hand and turning pages with my left. Paul and I stood together in the tenor section for the concert, and unfortunately all you can hear is my bellowing soprano and Pauls beautiful tenor. I suppose if I had recorded this from the back of the hall it would have sounded better, but you can still feel some of the majesty of the music.

I really enjoyed this sing along. We had a good turnout with the audience and it was fun sharing a couple of hours with Messiah Lovers in our community.

I love this song by Julie de Azevedo . I performed it for the first time last year at a relief society function in our ward. I feel the holy spirit every time I sing it or hear it and just love the message of it.

On sunday Michelle and I stayed after church to mess around on the grand piano.
I’ve noticed that with my other music offerings, the dog is often barking, boys making noise, phone ringing, etc… Our dog Sammy is actually quiet most of the day, and never barks at night unless he can hear someone outside. But it just feels like any time I turn on the video camera, he starts barking. Guess he wants to be heard on the internet.
Shelly and I made six or seven music videos to share on my blog over the next few months. I thought I’d put this one up first. It is the second verse of I heard him come, sans laughter, and includes the end of the song. Shell stopped playing at the end so I just finished it up acapella.
She is really coming along on the piano, but it is a difficult piece to accompany. I hope to include a version of this song that she plays perfectly in the near future. But as I said in this post, it is a very challenging piece of music.
Funny thing is, she can play it perfectly when I am not singing.
I enjoyed singing without all of our home distractions. Much easier to keep focused!

Last Saturday I performed the Messiah for the first time in my life with the Colorado Repertory Singers. Paul was going to perform as well as a tenor, but he had to work at the last minute. I missed sharing that experience with him, but we are doing a sing along next saturday and he plans to participate. It should be a fun experience.
