Nuke Notes

I’ve just spent the past few hours reading about North Korea.
Bloggers, Essayists at Front Page, News Articles, and a variety of chat rooms from uber liberal to the comments section at the Belmont Club, and of course all my pals over at Free Republic.
Except for a lone post by a fellow Freeper talking about Civil Defense, not once have I come across anyone saying anything about Personal Preparation and Family Civil Defense.
The talk has mostly revolved around “did they” or “didn’t they” test a nuke, What should be our response, and analysis and humor around “why” this happened.
People, we are living in the nuclear age. Terrorists, if they don’t already have nukes, are certainly trying to obtain them.
We know they have the will to use them.
Question is…What should be the appropriate response?
I want to testify the Personal Preparedness brings peace to the heart. Having a 72 hour kit, a supply of food, water, and basic supplies to survive a nuclear event calms the nerves. Reading the book Nuclear War Survival Skills back in the 1990’s comforted me, and empowered me. The book convinced me that a nuclear attack would be terrible, but completely survivable.
I began doing intensive research on this topic when I learned that the Clinton Administration had been selling nuclear technology for campaign contributions.
I was angry at the time, still am, that we had such a traitor in the White House, and I still think his treasonous tushie should be in Federal Prison.
But finger pointing and making jokes about the past do nothing to prepare for a nuclear future.
What I would like to see is the Department of Homeland Security do some intensive promotion of Family Civil Defense. Individual and Family Civil Defense being promoted, taught, and literally shoved on the American People, especially on television.
I applaud the Government for the Be READY internet campaign, and am grateful for the brochures and good information found on its web site.
If for no other reason than it makes sense and brings peace of mind, I believe it would be proper and appropriate for all of the news agencies to begin promoting civil defense in earnest as a reality check and for the sake of our most vulnerable populations.
Most people in this country can make some simple preparations. They do not need to wait for the Government to do it for them.
We can be certain that Hollywood Liberals will mock any attempts to teach our people what to do to prepare. Much as they mocked the duct tape and plastic sheeting advice that came out after 9-11.
So what? Let them mock.
We need to teach our people much more intensively how to be prepared to survive a nuclear attack.
It is the right thing to do.
If not now …. when?
