Ben is playing Soccer this summer. This is a photo of him with his coach…

Here is a clip from game one:

The boys played so well! They tied two to two and I think the teams were evenly matched. I Slo Mo’d the movie so the action was more obvious. Ben had the final toss in this clip. I caught a few goals on video, but they were so far away it was hard to see. This clip shows our boys wonderful teamwork!

UPDATE: Game 2 The boys had many “almost” goals…

I was so proud of our team. Even though they lost 1 to 0, they stopped the ball again and again and made many great attempts for a goal.

Opening ceremonies are tonight!

The highlight of the week was when Bens team tied for the medal round and had to have a kick off to see who would advance.

Since moving back home to Cedar City Paul has really enjoyed taking our children on some of his favorite hikes.

This one to Red Cliffs resulted in some beautiful photography.

Family Updates

We had several family events all jumble together at the same time last week.
Ben received his wolf badge at Pack Meeting last week, I was his Den Leader and then Cub Master since he began in scouts and it has been fun to be such a huge part of things as he progressed. I was released from my Cub Calling last month and am excited to see what my next calling will be at church.

Jeff played his final Soccer Game of the season. He was backup goalie on his charter school team and they had a good season.

He is so busy with chamber choir, speech and debate, and being active in his priests quorum at church, I am not quite sure how he fit a varsity sport into his schedule, but he managed to do it all these past two months and we were so pleased with his hard work.

As a senior he will not be playing any more soccer at the school and it has been really fun to be a part of the team these past few years.

Andy played on the JV team all season and experienced a ton of growth and development in this sport.

Ben turned nine and had a fun party at a local park…and we were able to enjoy a wonderful reunion with friends who we have not been able to socialize with for many months. It has been a great week. Jenny Hatch

A few more soccer pictures

Ben is starting practice tonight with his favorite coach from the rec center league, he also has his best friends on the same team, so it should be a fun fall season…

Here are a couple more pictures and a video taken from last saturday. Jeff heard yesterday that he will be playing backup keep/goalie on the varsity team and Andy is confirmed on the JV team. I love our charter school because it is so small that even if you are not a club player in a particular sport, you can still get on the team and even make it onto the field for games instead of sitting on a bench all year. It makes sports so much more fun than playing for a big school and having to sit constantly in the shadows of the students who have made a sport their life for fifteen years. Our school does not have a football team, so the big Homecoming game/dance all revolve around Soccer.

So, for now, Soccer Mom is once again my official designation.
