When I was expecting my daughter Allison in 1991, Kathy Kendall Tackett was soliciting stories for her first book Post Partum Depression, a Nurses Guide. I photocopied the journal I kept while hospitalized for Post Partum Psychosis and along with a copy of my medical records, mailed the documents to Kathleen back in 92.

She used my story as the whole final chapter of her textbook, which was recently republished in a second edition titled Depression in New Mothers. I collaborated with her once again on chapter 14 of the new book and it is available on Amazon HERE.

I strongly endorse her cutting edge research and can testify that Breastfeeding and the hormonal flooding of relaxin through my body and mind was the perfect way to calm my troubled soul during the years before I recovered my assault memories. I nursed Allison for 4 1/2 years, and during my mothering was breastfeeding one or two babies at a time for over 13 years. Normal hormonal connectedness was so much more effective than drug therapy during the years when I was feelings lots of distress from being raped and molested, but did not understand where those emotions were coming from.
