Power to the people – God bless the Mormons in California! Prop 8 controversy

One little glimmer of light over the fruited plain
LOS ANGELES (AP) –

In an election otherwise full of liberal triumphs, the gay rights movement suffered a stunning defeat as California voters approved a ban on same-sex marriages that overrides a recent court decision legalizing them.

The constitutional amendment—widely seen as the most momentous of the nation’s 153 ballot measures—will limit marriage to heterosexual couples, the first time such a vote has taken place in a state where gay unions are legal.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Of which I am a faithful member) has issued this statement about the passage of Proposition 8 in California:
——————————————————————————–
SALT LAKE CITY 5 November 2008 COMMENTARY

Since Proposition 8 was placed on the ballot in June of this year, the citizens of California have considered the arguments for and against same-sex marriage. After extensive debate between those of different persuasions, voters have chosen to amend the California State Constitution to state that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

Voters in Arizona and Florida took the same course and amended their constitutions to establish that marriage will continue to be between a man and a woman.

Such an emotionally charged issue concerning the most personal and cherished aspects of life — family, identity, intimacy and equality — stirs fervent and deep feelings.

Most likely, the election results for these constitutional amendments will not mean an end to the debate over same-sex marriage in this country.

We hope that now and in the future all parties involved in this issue will be well informed and act in a spirit of mutual respect and civility toward those with a different position. No one on any side of the question should be vilified, intimidated, harassed or subject to erroneous information.

It is important to understand that this issue for the Church has always been about the sacred and divine institution of marriage — a union between a man and a woman.

Allegations of bigotry or persecution made against the Church were and are simply wrong. The Church’s opposition to same-sex marriage neither constitutes nor condones any kind of hostility toward gays and lesbians. Even more, the Church does not object to rights for same-sex couples regarding hospitalization and medical care, fair housing and employment rights, or probate rights, so long as these do not infringe on the integrity of the traditional family or the constitutional rights of churches.

Some, however, have mistakenly asserted that churches should not ever be involved in politics when moral issues are involved. In fact, churches and religious organizations are well within their constitutional rights to speak out and be engaged in the many moral and ethical problems facing society. While the Church does not endorse candidates or platforms, it does reserve the right to speak out on important issues.

Before it accepted the invitation to join broad-based coalitions for the amendments, the Church knew that some of its members would choose not to support its position. Voting choices by Latter-day Saints, like all other people, are influenced by their own unique experiences and circumstances. As we move forward from the election, Church members need to be understanding and accepting of each other and work together for a better society.

Even though the democratic process can be demanding and difficult, Latter-day Saints are profoundly grateful for and respect the ideals of a true democracy.

The Church expresses deep appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the many Latter-day Saints and others who supported the coalitions in efforts regarding these amendments.

Donald Young, murdered in Chicago – Obamas Gay Lover???

This story, supressed by the media, is the one that most concerns me as an American.

Larry Sinclair has been yelling about Obamas Bi-Sexuality for many months now and he has been mostly ignored by the media and the blog world. I heard about his claims at Free Republic when his first You Tube Video was published months ago.
I did not blog about it because I honestly did not care about Baracks sexuality. I figured if he was gay…whatever…I was not planning to vote for him. But when I read about Donald Young, the Gay Choir Director of Reverend Wrights church in Chicago being murdered last year, I found myself increasingly angry that the story was not properly vetted in the press, except to discredit and make fun of Larry Sinclair.
And when I read on Larrys blog how he was being bullied by Obama thugs, I was completely enraged that a citizen of our country was being falsely arrested and had his site hacked etc…
Here is a link to the most recent Jeff Rense interview with Larry. Scroll down for the link. (Jeff’s site has also been repeatedly hacked)
Free Republic has been pulled for hours off the web, and my own blog has been hacked twice this month since I posted the information about Larry Sinclair and Donald Young.
I guess the thing that is most important to me is the truth. Before Bill Clinton was elected we had all sorts of stories coming out about his immorality. He allowed a Bimbo Eruption campaign to be conducted against his past girlfriends. Some of these women were brutalized by Clinton Thugs.
But to have this gay man in Chicago murdered, it just breaks my heart, and I believe the public has a right to know the truth. How many political murders and coverups will be conducted against the American People over the next four years if Barack Obama is elected president in three days time?
It just sickens me to think about the police state we will be living in if the commie thugs take over our government.
Please take some time to ponder and pray about this issue before you vote on tuesday.

It’s that time of year! Cold and Flu Season Natural remedies

Jenny’s Flu Soup:
2 onions
2 bulbs of garlic (about 20 cloves)
2 tablespoons sea salt
½ cup olive oil
¼ cup oatstraw tea (you may need to go to a health food store to get this)
2 tablespoons flax seed
¼ c Red Raspberry leaf tea
½ cup quinoa
1 cup brown lentils
½ cup sprouted brown lentils
2 potatoes
10 large carrots
1 tsp cumin
10 whole coriander seeds
Essential oils of Thyme and Oregano
Dried herbs of Thyme, Oregano, and Parsley
Directions for soup:
Cook onions, garlic, and olive oil in a pot. Add in chopped potatoes, carrots, and one Tablespoon of the sea salt. Let this cook for a few minutes, then add in the Quinoa, and sprouted lentils. (Sprouted lentils have the highest concentration of vitamin C of any food). To sprout lentils just cover a half cup of them with water over night. Drain in the morning and keep them wet until a ¼ inch tendril of sprout is detected. (This takes about 35 hours)
Fill a separate pot with two quarts of water to make soup stock. Add in the peels from the garlic, flaxseed, the oatstraw, raspberry leaf tea, and the peels from the carrots and potatoes. Bring the stock up to a hard boil for twenty minutes.
Cover the cup of brown lentils with water in a bowl. After soaking them for a few minutes, add the lentils and the water to the soup.
After the stock is finished boiling, strain the liquid into the soup pot. Recover the stock vegetables with another 2 quarts of water, and bring to a boil. Once again, strain the stock vegetables and add that liquid to the pot of soup. This ensures that the maximum amount of nutrients from the herbs will be included in the stock. This stock is chock full of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals.
Add in the ten whole Coriander seeds. Cover the pot and let simmer for three hours.
To finish the soup, add in the drops of Essential oils of Thyme and Oregano (one or two drops of each) – Therapeutic grade oils are best, and then toss in the dried herbs.

Here is a video I put together this morning to share the steps of making the soup, it took about 25 minutes to put the ingredients together, with about three hours simmer time.
You Tube Version

My Young Living Essential Oils Web Site It is a great time of year to put in a supply of Oregano and Thyme Essential Oils to use for family wellness. I use these oils (one or two drops each on the feet of my children) when they are threatening a cold or flu. I just massage the oil into the childs feet and then cover it with Olive Oil. This has an amazing effect on just about any seasonal illness that we are struggling with.

Movie Review: An American Carol by Jenny Hatch

My two sons and I were at the opening night showing of An American Carol on friday night. We went to the 7PM show and really enjoyed finally seeing the movie. The boys, aged twelve and fourteen laughed the whole way through and I just about wet my pants I was laughing so hard.
On monday my oldest daughter, aged nineteen, expressed a desire to see the movie, so all four of us went to the five o’clock showing. The theatre was not as full as friday night but there were still dozens of people there to watch the movie, including a couple from our local church congregation. Since our Mormon friends tend to lean left here in Boulder County, it was nice to see some fellow saints at a conservative movie.
A Couple of things I have noticed:
1. The majority of those attending were over age 40 and many looked like they were senior citizens. At both showings my teens were the only people attending under the age of 30. The audience clapped both times after each showing, and all seemed highly entertained.
2. I have to juxtapose the age issue with the viewing of Fahrenheit 9-11 that I attended while it was still in theatres back in 2004. I attended a nine pm viewing of that movie and it was mostly college aged students who made up the audience (And there were only a handful of people at the show). The various older adults seemed like curious conservatives, like me, who had come to view it just to see what all the fuss was about.
3. For me the highlinght of this movie coming out has been the many political conversations I have had with my four older children, the highlight of which took place in a small restaurant in downtown Louisville on monday night after the movie. My three children and I had a wonderful chat about the political messages of An American Carol. They asked me many questions and we were able to have a truly heartfelt conversation. I have to thank David Zucker for that. The political conversation NEVER would have happened had we not taken the time and spent the money to see the movie and then go out afterwards.
I would highly recomend any American over the age of twelve go see this movie. Go see it with your children and take them out for Ice Cream afterwards and ask them what they thought. The whole sale brainwashing our children are getting in school these days needs to be countered with some serious, focused, countering by the adults who care about Freedom.
My favorite scenes from the movie include the production number 1968 (Which happens to be the year I was born) – the song that spoofs liberal professors and higher education. Also the scene where Malone is shown Detroit (my home town) after a nuclear explosion. I loved all of the physical humor, as well as the timing of how the story played out. (I played a character role in Scrooge, The Musical when I was a sophemore in high school).
I found myself tearing up at the end when the audience at the concert was panned and Malone noticed soldiers from all of the previous American Wars in the crowd. It was an unexpected burst of emotion after laughing so much. I have had direct line ancestors fight in every conflict since the American Revolution, and it just made me think of them and all of the sacrifices made for our Freedom.
Thanks to all of the actors, producers, and most especially to David Zucker for making a great movie. It will go in our family library when it comes out on DVD.

“Brian Orndorf, whose film reviews appear on prestigious movie websites, calls American Carol a “lousy, hopeless movie, easily one of the worst films of the year” that “reinforces how needlessly divisive our country has become.” But if the cultural division is so sizable that both groups can’t even understand each other’s jokes, isn’t it best to acknowledge this fact and act accordingly instead of continuing to pretend and live in denial?

And what’s with this “needlessly”? Aren’t we supposed to “celebrate our differences”? What happened to the liberal doctrine of diversity? Or are there different kinds of differences and some differences are more different than others? Should we only celebrate those differences that conform to the party line and obfuscate those that are perpendicular to it? And isn’t the latter closer to the actual meaning of “being diverse”?

The party line on this subject is clear: beat conservatives into pulp and if they resist accuse them of being “needlessly divisive.” Anything less would legitimize conservatism and make it an equal partner in the cultural narrative. Because if the liberal narrative monopoly is shattered, down will go the “mainstream” cover of the liberal media, exposing decades of deception and hidden skeletons. Once you realize how high the stakes are, the sadistic critical beating of American Carol no longer looks like an overreaction. In the words of Karl Marx it was “historically inevitable.”

Natural News: HPV Vaccine News

Merck Targets Low Income and Minority Women in HPV Vaccine Study

Merck, manufacturer of the controversial Gardasil vaccine, has awarded a research grant of $79,000.00 to two Indiana University Kelley School of Business professors to study the effect of two interventions on acceptance of the HPV vaccination among low-income and minority women, according to a press release by the university. One professor, Dena Cox, will examine how consumers make health care decisions. Another professor, Anthony Cox, will explore how consumers evaluate the risk factors involved when considering medical treatments.

Researchers are Business Experts, Not Medical Doctors

Eli Lilly Fellow Dena Cox, who will serve as the principal investigator on the study, was previously a microbiologist before receiving a doctorate in marketing from the University of Houston. Anthony Cox, co-investigator for this study, has a Ph.D. in marketing from Indiana University. Note that neither of these researchers are medical doctors. According to the press release, it is their job to “seek the most effective ways to present HPV vaccine risk and benefit information to low-income Hispanic, African-American and White women, so that they can make informed HPV vaccination decisions.”

Bleech!
