Grasshoppers and Ants: Occupy Wall Street as compared to the Tea Party, written by Tea Party Organizer Jenny Hatch

Occupy Wall Street as Compared to the Tea Party

Denver Colorado Tea Party Organizer Jenny Hatch uses the old fable the Ant and the Grasshopper to describe the difference between the Occupy Wall Street movement and the Tea Party.

Peter Tells The Story Of “The Ant And The Grasshopper” (This little clip of Denver Radio Personality Peter Boyles modern “PROGRESSIVE” version of the Ant and the Grasshopper sets the stage for this Blog Post)

I have spent many hours these past few weeks watching videos and reading online reports about the Occupy Wall Street Activities that are ongoing around the world.

I really don’t understand why the Occupy Wall Street Activists are upset about the thieves stealing cash and computers. Private property doesn’t exist and we all know, wink wink, that it is good to “spread the wealth around” SHEESH! They are such tools, Stalin called them Useful Idiots…

I thought it would be a good idea to share a roundup of videos, articles and thoughts on the topic of how much the Occupation and the Tea Party have in common.  President Obama said this week that the frustrations of both groups are not that different.

What is different is the expectations and solutions to the problems suggested by both groups.  It is this difference that I would like to outline in this blog post.

At a Political Science Professors blog on October 13th I said this:

Jenny Hatch October 13, 2011 at 12:22 pm

I have spent quite a bit of time the past few weeks reading articles, watching videos, and listening to interviews with those political activists involved in the Occupy Wall Street Activism.

As a Colorado Tea Party organizer and Political Activist I believe in building bridges with anyone who reverences the Founding Documents of the USA and seeks to promote Freedom, Peace, and Prosperity.

The recent articles comparing and parsing the two movements have been an interesting juxtiposition…

As someone who organized, hosted meetings at my home, and spent many hours on the phone and emailing fellow tea party activists at both the state and national level I can assure readers that the one constant point of connection with all of us was an absolute LOATHING of Marxism, Socialism, Collectivism, Communism, and Statism in all of its varying degrees and forms.

The 9-12-09 Tea Party I organized was a Celebration of the Constitution of the USA and a Candlelight Vigil for Freedom. We began the event with a reading of the Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and The Declaration of Independence.

I was shocked and amazed to witness hundreds of Coloradans standing in the rain and cold listening and cheering during the hour long reading of the Constitution.

I had brought a few garbage bags to pick up trash after the party, but did not need to use them. I only picked up one cigarette butt on the Denver Capitol steps and since I saw no one smoking, figured it was probably already on the grounds before the party started.

If points of connection exists between OWS and the Tea Party, I have yet to see them. While both groups may be protesting the Political criminals in our midst, the remedy to the problem and the various solutions proposed seem to me to be polar opposite.

Marxism will never bring Prosperity and Freedom, much less Social Justice and equality.

To even imply that Tea Partiers would use and/or promote Collectivist tactics to achieve Economic Wellness in America is ridiculous and objectionable.

I support any group standing up to political tyranny in America, as long as they follow the law. But I heard yesterday that the hundreds of tents set up on a grassy plot of land at the Denver Capitol are being well tolerated by the police and the politicians even though such activities are illegal.

I have to question the willingness of police to allow such criminality.

Some Belated Parental Advice to Protesters

From Chicago:

Glenn Beck, media hates Tea Party, loves OWS

My friend Charlene and I had a great chat on Facebook about the two types of protests, here it is: (My Responses are in Italics) Jenny Hatch

“So who did start this, OWS (or the Tea party for that matter)? Why can’t it be about a bunch of truly pist off, fed up people? Isn’t that what both of these protest/movements are? Why can’t both of these truly aggrivated people come together and fight their common enemy? I am so annoyed with the them, vs. us when it comes to left and right I want to cry. Sorry, I just feel like if both sides looked hard they would realize they are fighting the same battle just with different armor…”

Charlene, I could never stand in solidarity with the OWS activists although I do protest against many of the same institutions that they do. The Teaparty clearly articulated a lawful, peaceful change through legal means…elections. The current crop of protestors, while many mean well, are being manipulated by Marxists who want to destroy the American Free Enterprise System with violent revolution. I pray that the police are able to defend and uphold the law without anyone dying, and I hope the politicians will stand by their oaths of office to uphold and defend the constitution and the laws of the land. Allowing the protestors to “speak” by breaking laws is noxious to many Americans. If I hadn’t posted it, would you have even heard that a woman was pressured to allow a strange man to sleep in her tent, and then she was raped? Didn’t make the national news. I pray that the innocent will go home, especially the females, before this powder keg blows into real violence.

I agree that an innocent woman being raped is horrible but isn’t that what freedom is about,, to refuse that person access to her tent and not participate if she was told that guy had to sleep in her tent. I for one would be like, no, um get the hell away from me, no one will tell me I have to share my tent when i feel I don’t know that man well. I am not saying it is her fault, but like so many of my and the younger generation we have been sheep for so long, it is taking a while to wake up from being led around and told what is in our best interest. It is an organic movement much like the Tea Party was in the begining and it isn’t about left or right from what I can see or about a corporate “sponsor” or political one for that matter, that is why so many people are scratching their heads and can’t figure out the “list” of demands, lol. BTW, I haven’t participated in any of the marches and I am just a lonely independent that is observing both sides with interest. I just see two groups of people fed up with the way our country is being run and want a change and they are trying to do it the best ways they know how to go about it. The TP people think that change will come from the electoral process set in place, it has been greatly corrupted and is barely hobbling along with crutches and infection, however. The OWS, is doing what their generation knows best, to defy, to rebel, to get upset, because basic human nature is to rebel or give up when being lied to, oppressed, and controlled they chose the 1st option since the second one wasn’t working. Also, just like all “movements” (both the OWS and TP) you will have the crazies, the evil and subversives, in time they are usually weeded out by the core group that is true to the goal. Sorry, just my 2cents. I really respect your comments and love to have someone to talk with that I know is seeing the issues facing our country. I dont’ want you to take my rants (lol) as an attack, just trying to see where all sides stand ♥

Don’t ever apologize for sharing your opinion. I have spent many hours watching videos and reading articles about both movements and how the media interacts and portrays each group. The writing is on the wall in my opinion and those in the streets now are being duped by the Marxists amongst us. I bet 80% of them are good, honest souls who just want to have some justice, and believe me, I DO TOO. But it has to be fought for in the system we have, not after a violent overthrow of the American System. No justice will be available to anyone if we enter into a Global Collective, which is what the goal has been all along for those evil doers at the top.

I agree, infiltration in both aisles by the “evil” people is so sad. It all ties in with the begining of (and call me a conspiracy theorist) but the Fed Reserve act and the “banking” systems takeover, maybe the illuminati, maybe not but just doing the bit of research I have, I see that this two party system is ruining America, creating a divisiveness that I really don’t see in the average population. Yeah, some people are more superficial, some more learned, some more or less trying to live happily, love their friends and family. Yes, differences abide but I think that is where it is so beneficial to see others opinions and them to see yours but still be respectful. If I had to say something that makes me like either movement is that they both are fed up and doing something about it. I may not agree 100% with either side but I love the conversation both of these movements have started….BTW, if you could name one change that you think needs what would it be?

Charlene, The Conspiracy is no theory. I have read so many books linking that early group of Psycho Socialists to just about every dark and evil thing that smacked the American Family during the 20 th Century. The greatest change will come when parents chose Family Sovereignty. When Mothers take personal responsibility for the health, education, and welfare of their own children and then do the daily work necessary to give them a happy and healthy life, that is when we will see real change. As for the greatest need, I believe it is for Mothers to get their butts back in the kitchen and beat the conspirators at their own game. The evil doers know that if they can traumetize women during birth, get them hooked on anti depressants and bottle feeding baby….they can take the whole family down a very long and expensive path of disability and disease. Answers? Homebirth, Ecological Breastfeeding, whole foods (especially when Mom is pregnant and breastfeeding), and keeping children away from vaccines and drugs in favor of orthomolecular medicine and nutritional therapies when ill. That is my definition of Utopia. These lifestyle changes coupled with a strong spiritual life that encourages complete fidlity to spouse and children is what will restore the family to its proper place in society.

Agree, I think that so much of what you said is why people are upset, some can’t even articulate why. If you look at when our country really started it’s downward spiral is when women bought the lie to be better, to be whole to be accepted is to be more male, ego driven and competetive. This has been an AWESOME discussion! ♥

You might be interested in reading the LDS health code known as The Word of Wisdom. It mentions conspiring men right at the beginning of the section. Mormons have often interpreted this passage to mean Cigarette Companies, but I believe it encompasses all of them, every single person who has conspired to poison and intoxicate people for profit and genocide. It always makes me laugh when I hear a fellow Mormon claim they don’t believe in Conspiracy Theories. I often wonder if they have read this section of scripture where the Lord himself said that Conspiring Men would try to destroy for profit. I think you might enjoy reading it:http://lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/89?lang=eng Thanks, it has been a lovely chat… Jen

Home Birth, story, quote, and a movie…

My friend Becky had an eight pound boy at home last night. She asked me to be available to help with her three older children if she gave birth during the day. But since she gave birth at 2 am, I was not able to attend. While I would have loved to be around just to feel the energy and spirit of a homebirth, it felt right that this most sacred and gentle of moments take place quietly, without too many extra people hanging around. And so this morning as she proudly shared pictures of Her son on Facebook, I felt joy and peace that another blessed child had made it safely to the earth into his parents hands.

Midwife Gloria Lemay:

“[Imagine] if you sent your kids to the local swimming pool on ten different days in the summer. If your child was given complete CPR, oxygen, and a drug injection on nine out of the ten days he went there because the Lifeguard “thought” he was drowning, and he wasn’t, you’d get pretty upset. The fact that normal, healthy young women walk into the hospital to have a baby, and 90% of them came out looking like they’ve had major trauma, is ridiculous.” Gloria Lemay

Following is an excerpt from Rape of the Twentieth Century which is no longer in print.
Interview by Leilah McCracken.

Q&A with Gloria Lemay

Gloria Lemay is the only non-registered birth attendant in the province of British Columbia still serving parturient women; all others have been terrorized out of practice by a monopolizing, litigious, government-sanctioned midwifery cartel. Ms. Lemay has been in service for over twenty years, and is currently the most popular midwife in B.C.

Q- Why did you become a midwife?

A- Because having my first homebirth was a life-changing experience for me. Up until that time I had worked in fields primarily involving men; and

when I gave birth to my daughter, I really claimed my womanhood – it changed my direction completely into wanting to work with women.

Q- What does birth mean to you?

A- it’s one of the few opportunities we have in life for transformation. The suck of life is that people can change- that change will happen over time.

We come to believe that because there is a lot of common agreement around it; and transformation is expected to happen in a predictable time-frame. Yet in birth, a transformation happens outside of time – outside of time and space. It’s not something you can repeat or do again; it’s actually a change of substance. I was transformed in my births, and creating room for other people to experience that is really important to me.

Q- Sometimes you call yourself a “private birth attendant”. Why don’t you like to be called “midwife” anymore?

A- Legally managed and sanctioned midwifery tends to become invisible in the system very quickly. Working outside the system is what I do, and I am not attached to calling myself a midwife- it’s a lovely word to my ears, but my definition of the word seems to be quite different from the legislators in my province: to them, “obstetrical nursing” is equatable with “midwifery”.

Q- What qualities make a good midwife?

A- Patience number one. And an ability to be in true service- to put yourself aside and see what is really needed in the other person. Love in the

heart… It helps to be smart. One should be able to stay calm, and be reliable in the face of emergency.

Q- What is the role of modern medicine in childbirth?

A- Mostly, to get the hell out of it. In a small percentage of cases, modern medicine can make a life-saving difference. But the harm that doctors have inflicted on the women of North America for no reason is like a holocaust. A good analogy would be if you sent your kids to the local swimming pool on ten different days in the summer. If your child was given complete CPR, oxygen, and a drug injection on nine out of the ten days he went there because the Lifeguard “thought” he was drowning, and he wasn’t, you’d get pretty upset. The fact that normal, healthy young women walk into the hospital to have a baby, and 90% of them came out looking like they’ve had major trauma, is ridiculous.

Q-Do you feel a backlash happening against the homebirth movement?

A- I actually think that there’s less as we approach the year 2000. We’ve gotten to a point where alternatives- and practices that have endured over time- are becoming increasingly accepted. Did you know that twenty-five percent of people buy organic food? When an idea reaches critical mass, what was the idea of a few people suddenly becomes everybody’s idea. The day is coming quickly when the women who have been persecuted as midwives will be rewarded for

their perseverance with very busy practices.

Q- What is your single greatest fear regarding childbirth?

A- My natural fear is having a baby death, because of the pain that the parents go through. That fear keeps me smart, prepared, and keeps me working

preventatively, so parents have the best chance possible of having a live baby. I also fear that one of my clients will have a cesarean section- or a

forceps delivery- or any of the other interventions that I hate.

Q- How many women should be getting cesarean sections?

A- No more than three percent.

Q- Why aren’t you a registered midwife?

A- I believe in joining and giving my membership to organizations whose actions reflect my own beliefs regarding their actions and stated

philosophies. The British Columbia College of Midwives is not an organization to which I’d give my name or my money. They see new midwives as a threat to their monopoly of the homebirth market– I was not welcomed or supported as a new midwife, to say the least.

Q- Is there anything positive in the medical model of birth?

A- There are a lot of positive things about it, and if midwives are smart, they’d take all the positives, duplicate them, and compete strongly on the things that are not positive. Taking things like clean fingernails, reliability (there’s always someone there when women show up at the birth captivity center), making sure there’s enough oxygen in the oxygen tank, always having lots of sterile gauze- there are certain things that are useful, and conscious, that doctors and nurses do that midwives can, and should, duplicate. On the other hand, we can compete very strongly with doctors and nurses because midwives can do all those things easily, plus offer preventative measures, womanly wisdom, and our own experience in giving birth. We can also offer

a lot of tricks of the trade that doctors don’t know about- plus a gentler approach.

Q- What is the role of men in childbirth?

A- To protect the women.

Q-What is your most important job as a birth attendant?

A- To create a safe environment for the mother and baby.

Q- What bothers you most about TV’s portrayal of childbirth?

A- In order to sell commercial space, whatever’s being presented has to have a dramatic element. Birth in real life is not dramatic- it is sacred, moving, alive and earthy- but it’s not something that would make a dramatic screenplay. Birth has to be warped a bit to make it saleable to commercial interests. Unfortunately, people get their general perceptions of birth, police work and legal matters- and their perceptions of those who work within these professions- through what they see on TV. Midwives, police officers and lawyers will tell you that the every day work of their businesses is nothing at all like what is seen on TV- but people never believe it.

Q- What questions do you hear most from families, and how do you respond to them?

A- Mostly- “How can we avoid being involved with the medical system in any way?” They want to avoid transfer to the hospital, having a doppler used to detect fetal heart tones ultrasonically, diabetes screenings…

Most people who come to see me are referred by friends- so they’ve already heard all about me. They already know that I’m out of the system. In the course of prenatal visits, we get to know each other, trust each other and understand each other’s vulnerabilities. This all pays dividends at the birth because everyone has only one focus- the highest good of mother and baby.

Q- What should midwives do in society to help heal birth?

A- What I concentrate on is one birth at a time, with excellence in my practice. One woman tells another, and soon a hundred people have heard the birth story. Each birth creates a ripple effect in the community- it’s amazing the effect that a normal birth has on people.

Q- What roles should midwives have- aside from attending birth- in the community?

A- Classically, midwives have been the wise women who looked out for their communities: they were the women to whom you would go to get help with burying your grandparents; the women who would come with hot meals for the family when the husbands have been ill; they were mature women who never gossiped or betrayed confidences. They furthered wise action and harmony in their communities, and in turn, their communities took care of and honored

the midwives. A midwife’s role should be to promote harmony.

Q- How would a woman go about becoming a midwife?

A- The way I did it twenty years ago was best for me. For four years I immersed myself in reading, eating and breathing birth. We formed different

midwifery study groups, and I began teaching prenatal classes. I did a lot of hospital labor support, and was helped by friends who were doctors and nurse-midwives. I learned a lot from them. I also learned a lot about what NOT to do at a birth… Some of these births were such gruesome rapes I shudder to think of them now. I know there are obstetricians who hate women and are just plain evil in their disregard. I really wanted to keep women away from medicine as much as I could- so I learned how do things like injections and suturing myself. Also, a midwife needs to know many things to be good at her job. She should learn all she can about all aspects of life- she needs to know about religion, government, history, economics, auto mechanics,

linguistics, geography, psychology, matters of the law, physiology, crisis management- she will have to have a wide repertoire of knowledge regarding all aspects of women’s lives.

Q- Could you briefly describe your legal battles?

A- In 1985 my partner and I attended a homebirth in Vancouver where a baby died. We were charged with criminal negligence causing death to the baby, criminal negligence causing bodily harm to the mother, and four counts of practicing medicine without a license. What ensued was a six-year odyssey of appearing before the courts in British Columbia and Ontario- ultimately culminating in an appearance before the Supreme Court of Canada. We were finally acquitted of all charges in 1991. At that time I returned to my midwifery practice (I wasn’t practising at all between 1985-91). In 1994 I had a baby in my practice who died at three days old; and there was a seven day Coroner’s Inquest into his death- which resulted in a finding of “accidental death”. There was a lot of negative publicity and again, once it blew over, I returned to my practice.

Q- What positive result came from your Supreme Court case?

A- Our goal was for it to be the last time midwives faced the criminal justice system in Canada, and for our trial to be the end of all midwifery trials in

Canada. There has not been a criminal arrest of a midwife since.

Q- What is the climate for you inside hospitals when you need to take women in?

A- It varies- sometimes extremely hostile, sometimes extremely cooperative- it seems to depend on the mood of the hospital staff. I’ve learned not to take it personally.

Q- Do doctors really believe they do right by women by interfering with childbirth?

A- I think they’re resigned to birth as it appears to them inside the confines of a hospital. They get resigned to what they see every day, and believe that what they see is how birth is supposed to be. I really feel that doctors don’t have a clue about what to do or how to help birthing women- then they blame women for “needing” interventions. They blame the women for the terrible statistics. They’ve been taught how to do things- and have never questioned the wisdom of what they’ve been taught.

Q- Why do midwives in hospitals remain silent regarding alarming intervention rates?

A- I think they’re resigned to playing politics.

Q- Do some women- such as non-English speaking or minority- suffer more in hospital births than others?

A- I think that in Canadian hospitals some women are used as teaching patients more than others, so interns can learn procedures. These women often have no idea what’s going on, either to them or around them. They also have an unrealistic idea that modern technology is always better than the simpler, more natural ways in their own countries. I think it would make a difference to these women if there were labor support people of their own language or descent in hospitals to help them. Young and uneducated women are taken advantage of too. Two Burnaby midwives were running a program for teaching teenage mothers about nutrition in pregnancy; they soon got a huge number of young women coming to them for counseling. They would channel these young mothers for their regular prenatal care to doctors who never did episiotomies- that is, to gentle women doctors. Soon, other doctors could feel the pinch in their practices- and were forced to develop kinder approaches as well. Hit them where it counts to make change- in the wallet.

Q- What are the most important things a pregnant woman can do to ensure the health of her baby?

A- Eat a good diet. Muster all the social support she can around her. There have been studies that have shown that these are the only two things really make a difference.

Q- What are the two greatest advantages of homebirth?

A- No one will lose your baby, and so far no one has had a cesarean section at home.

Q- Can you think of any disadvantages?

A- Your midwife has to wash the sheets- there’s no paid cleanup staff.

Q- Do breathing exercises really help in preparation for childbirth?

A- Breathing exercises worked for me personally. I love to have some familiar tools when going into scary or unknown situations- learning how to

breathe was valuable for me going into my own births. Some women don’t care about them, though. Every woman has unique wants and needs, and midwives should listen, and put their own judgments aside. If women say they would like to be taught breathing exercises, then they should be taught. That goes for anything else as well. Midwives need to address women as individuals- they need to address individual needs.

Q- What do you find most rewarding about being a midwife?

A- Feeling like I make a difference- knowing that I make a difference.

Q- If you could tell all the obstetricians in the world one thing, what would it be?

A- That birth needs to be undisturbed.

Q- What would you like written on your gravestone?

A- “Gloria Lemay- MIDWIFE & MOTHER… She spoke up for babies”.

This is why I left the Republican Party…

Katie Wright at Age of Autism:

By Katie Wright

“Has the Republican Party lost its mind? Are they trying to alienate every mother, grandmother and young woman in the Unites States?

I thought the Republican party believed in the paramount importance of individual rights and responsibilities, financial accountability of the federal government to the taxpayers and primarily, the importance of getting big government out of our lives, especially our families’ lives.  Well you won’t know that from watching the recent Republican presidential debate.

Full disclosure: I live in New York City and am not a conservative but my vote is up for grabs.

Michele Bachmann was the only candidate tough enough to question Rick Perry about his mandatory HPV vaccination policy. Perry accepted $30,000 from the makers of the HPV vaccine and his chief of staff went on to earn $300,000 working for the vaccine company. That former chief of staff, now Merck lobbyist is, naturally, a major Perry fundraiser. Perry basically forced Texas families to choose between giving their pre teen girls an experimental vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease or an education. Now if that isn’t big government in our lives in a big way what is?

Naturally everyone jumped all over Michele Bachmann. Apparently Bachmann did not receive Secretary Sebelius’ memo strongly recommending that the media not discuss vaccine safety issues. Yes I am serious. Sebelius said, on the record, that she personally “reached out” to politicians and the media not to discuss vaccine safety issues. Scary right? I wish Secretary Sebelieus had “reached out” to the 2 million families affected by autism, 90% of whom are dissatisfied w/ NIH autism research.

Well Rick Perry argued that he “knows” the HPV vaccine is safe. Hmmmmm….Has Rick Perry ever been a woman, a mother, or a teenage girl? Has Rick Perry raised over 20 children? Has Rick Perry had in depth discussions with his daughters about menstruation and sexually transmitted diseases? Somehow I doubt it, but I bet Michele Bachmann has. It was very sad to see the only person standing up for the rights of these pre teen girls was a woman and a mother, Michele Bachmann.  These girls cannot legally give informed consent to this dangerous experimental vaccine – yet they are asked to take all the risk. Cervical cancer is almost 100% preventable with annual pap smears. How about starting at the start and making sure all these girls have access to basic health care before forcing them to be inoculated or be thrown out of school?”

I completely agree with Katie, and this issue is why I formally left the Republican party this past year. My vote is also up for grabs, actually it always has been, I always vote for the politician who will uphold, protect, and defend the Constitution of The United States of America.

Michele Bachmann has my complete endorsement for POTUS, but anyone who can prove they are free from the taint of Crony Capitalism will earn my vote.

Natural Family BLOG

For the past six years I have relentlessly debated Vaccines on this blog and on the web, mostly at Free Republic but also at the personal blog of the late Cathy Seipp, (who I believe was a paid shill for Drug Companies), as well as the comment sections of her articles at National Review Online. Cathys Blog no longer exists, and her archive at NRO is spotty in regards to finding the posts where she unilaterally pushes the vaccine on teens.  The old chats at Free Republic are still on the web, but the trackbacks to my blog no longer function because I have been hacked so many times.

Most of the links in my old posts are dead, but I saved enough of the debates  here on my blog so that you the reader can get a sense of what was being discussed.

As stated in the most recent edition of Blogging Mothers Magazine, I believe I have been repeatedly poisoned by criminals tied to the Drug Companies these past five years.  This radio Show Documents my story: Click to Listen
