Can 20th Century Journalism make it in the 21st Century?

My Comment after reading Mark Tapscotts analysis of Hugh Hewitt’s piece on 21st centruy journalism.
“Blogger and Talk Radio host Hugh Hewitt has a fascinating and important column in the latest Weekly Standard entitled “The Media’s Ancien Regime.” To put it bluntly, Hewitt has little hope for anything remotely resembling a bright future for what has passed for much of the previous century as objective journalism.”

Mark,
I read all of Hugh’s piece and your analysis. I’m wondering if you or anyone else has an online “school” for bloggers who would like to up jounalism skills?
I’m just a busy mom, who happens to have a passion for Liberty, writing, and current events. But it has been amazing to me to go from 5 hits my first day of Blogging to six months later having 35,000 hits this month alone with 9,710 unique users in January, and the month isn’t even close to being over.
These people coming in must enjoy my writing, which I think of as sophemoric and unpolished, or they wouldn’t come and look around so much. Yet I feel so “untrained” as a blogger journalist.
So much of my writing is done surrounded by my family. With children interupting asking for computer time to finish homework, and in the dark of the night when I can finally write without hearing my three year old yell, “I’m hungry Mom”.
I guess my main question is, as novice writers, how much of a responsibility do we have as bloggers who have quickly found an audience to be “legitimate” writers??? What makes one legit? And should I even be concerned about this as an issue???
Just the thoughts on my blogger mind as I read Hugh’s piece and your analysis.
I sort of feel sorry for those students spending $59,000.00 per year to become “legit” in certain people’s minds. Seems like an awful waste of money.
Thanks for your blog.
