ABC News Interviewed Vice President Dick Cheney
“It may not be popular with the public — it doesn’t matter in the sense that we have to continue the mission and do what we think is right. And that’s exactly what we’re doing,” Cheney said. “We’re not running for office. We’re doing what we think is right.”
First Reaction to Vanity Fair Report
Cheney also gave his first reaction to the Vanity Fair report that two of the Pentagon’s strongest supporters of the war, Richard Perle and Ken Adelman, now say they would not have supported the invasion if they had known how incompetently the administration would handle it.
Cheney said, “I haven’t seen the piece I’m not going to comment on it. I think there is no question that it is a tough war, but it is also the right thing to do,” he said. “And it is very important that we complete the mission.”
I’m disapointed in my fellow Neo-Cons that they have seemingly chosen to abandon the President and his policies.
But knowing the press and Vanity Fair in particular as I do, I don’t doubt that this hit piece on the president twisted the words of the Neo-Cons and they are using this article (which will no doubt be trumped up as loudly as possible over the next three days) as an attempt to sway the voters right before the election.
“SEE, THE PRESIDENTS NEO-CONS HAVE ABANDONED HIM, SO NOW, YOU SHOULD TOO!” is the message of David Rose.
I’m not abandoning him and I would guess that Pearle and co will come out and share the fact that the writer twisted words and put meaning where it was not intended.
As Cheney said, what we are doing in Iraq right now is the right thing to do…period.
History will record that fact and this war will mark the turning point in Democracys march around the globe. The naysayers will be forgotten under the absolute crush of Freedom in our world and the American Voter will be held in highest esteem for not caving to the lies, distortions, and outright frauds that have been perpetrated by the Media these past few years.
