Feeling More optimistic

I just read for a couple hours. Tons of analysis, after watching television off an on through all of yesterday.
After thinking it all through, instead of getting all upset that our troops are about to be betrayed or that Iraq is going to go down to defeat, I’m thinking this election was much more about typical mid term, esp sixth year mid term shifts in behavior than it is about anything else.
I wish the dems well in the coming months.
I’m curious to see what they will do in terms of legislation and I am very curious to see what will be the outcome of the War. I do not believe that we will ever go back to the way things were in Iraq, no matter how hard the terrorists push. Hopefully the efforts of the past few years, and the continued push by our president that the war effort will be “full speed ahead” will keep our country from falling off a cliff while the dems rule Congress.
I pray that freedom will win the day.
But as we get more socialized with huge leaps towards socialized medicine, and the tax and spenders in control of America’s purse strings, I predict that our society will continue to be bumpy for a couple more generations. And as our political situation continues to swing left and then back to the right, my prayer is simply that the average American will gradually move more towards the freedom side of the spectrum.
To those of you who are mothers teaching the little ones, we are the rulers of the world. The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. We hold tomorow safely in our arms when we rock a sleeping child.
My hope for the future is in my children and grandchildren. My children may never see things politically the way that I do. But they will NEVER be in doubt about how I feel and where I stand on political issues. Paul and I have painstakingly taught them the gospel of Jesus Christ. On monday night for family home evening, we read what the Lord Jesus Christ had to say about the constitution. The children were bored, really not interested, and wanted to focus on eating the cinnamon rolls I had made with Ben that afternoon.
I felt like I was failing in my efforts to teach them about the constitution. I offered a silent prayer and asked Heavenly Father what I should say to help emphasize to them the importance of what we were talking about.
“Testify to them” was the answer.
So, I bore my testimony to them that the Constitution was a document inspired by Heaven, and in the name of Jesus Christ I witnessed to them that I had a testimony of Freedom being the guiding principle of life.
I witnessed to them that they were free to choose for themselves the life that they would lead. I shared with them my witness that the health principles they had been raised with had given them a measure of freedom not enjoyed by those who were enslaved by drugs (yes, that includes over the counter drugs), and I told them that I loved them and had great hopes for their future lives.
Ultimately, the fatal flaw of liberalism is that it disempowers those individuals who embrace it.
Ezra Taft Benson claimed that those Mormons who embraced liberalism did not understand the Plan of Salvation. That great plan of Happiness introduced and authored by Jesus Christ in Heavenly Fathers councils in heaven was designed to be the way for all of us to gain salvation and eternal life with our Heavenly Parents. He made it possible for us to have freedom of choice.
What Pelosi and Reed (who I have termed a MINO – Mormon in name only) and Kerry and Kennedy don’t understand as they push for all of the social programs is that the message they are sending to the American People is: “You pathetic people in America don’t have the smarts to make your life work without our nanny state help”. You have no ability to provide for your health, pay for your drugs, heat your homes, pay for your childrens education, or make a decent wage without us stepping in to “level the playing field” and make things “fair” for you to get ahead.
It is liberalism at its worst.
Few in our society are willing to use the C word. You say Communist and everyone looks at you like you are a nut. Yet when evidence of Kerry and Clinton appeasement efforts over the years being tied to Communist influence and connection is brought forward, it is the whistle blower who is suspect. It was no surprise to me that the Communists endorsed the Democrats in the recent election.
Go to the Communist Party web site and you will quickly see that Communist Goals are the Progressive Democrats talking points. Socialism is just watered down Communism, and again, when looking at domestic agendas, no different from the very things Pelosi outlined as being her first steps in the first 100 hours.
Do we honestly believe these social programs are the answer for what ails America?
I don’t.
I am for freedom.
I am for Capitalism.
I am for a Free Market Economy.
I pray that as our world continues to twist and turn with the commotions set in place before the foundation of the world, that we will not allow ourselves to be deceived by the seductions of the left. The War in Heaven continues on the earth today. The issues are the same. The arguments and the ideologies are exactly what they were when Satan and Jesus Christ offered them up to the hosts of heaven even before the world was created.
I feel that with this political choice, American Freedom has just taken a giant step backwards. What will it take to start moving in the right direction again? Morality. Just simple morality. It is immoral for our society to be embracing the ideologies of Marx. It will lead to captivity and spiritual death for our people.
I’m grateful for the polarizing effect of the election. It really cuts the two camps squarly in half. Many of the RINOs (republicans in name only) were sent home from Congress, and in those states, including Colorado, where traditional marriage was up for a vote, America resoundly sided with tradtional values.
Many are claiming this election means that America wants to be a nice big melting pot of centrist politics. I totally disagree. The gap continues to widen. What America is aching for is a true Reagan conservative to step forward and LEAD with our Founding Fathers traditional capitalist free market rules of engagement and individual rights held up as the pinnacle of his presidency.
I’m praying that Mitt Romney is that man.
