A More Perfect Union
Clip from the movie

It is no coincidence that a group of brilliant men came together at the right place and time to form an unprecedented government. This historical drama shows the events and philosophies that influenced the Founding Fathers as they united in a political battle to forge the Constitution of the fledgling United States.

This documentary is one of the best I have ever watched on the making of the Constitution.
Paul and I plan to watch A More Perfect Union with our children on July 4th.
If you would like to watch it on BYU Television, here are the times. If you don’t have cable connectivity, you can watch it live on the internet with a variety of streaming technologies.

For me one of the fun parts of watching the documentary is seeing various BYU Theatre Profs playing certain rolls in this excellent film.

“This program is the first comprehensive recreation of the stirring, heating debates that lead to the creation of a new government in 1787. Filmed on location at Independence Hall, Williamsburg, Virginia and other historical sites, it dramatically chronicles how America became a nation and those underlying principles that guard our freedoms today.”

“America, 1786. A handful of brilliant men including George Washington, James Madison and Benjamin Franklin, lead a political battle to create a new form of government, one that will establish the standard of self-government to all the world.

This is the comprehensive recreation of those stirring, heated debates during the summer of 1787. Filmed on location at Independence Hall, Williamsburg, Virginia and other historical sites, it dramatically chronicles how America became a nation and the underlying principles that guard our freedom today. This award-winning production was officially recognized by the Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution.”
