And on a more serious note, Amir from Iran speaks out at the Wa Po, hat tip to NRO: Go Here<a
"But we weren't surprised by Ahmadinejad's comments about gays at Columbia University. What else could he say? We stone homosexuals in Iran because that's what God wants? It was a joke, but he gave the only answer he could.
I wish our president could learn to respect gays instead of denying us. But I'm not holding my breath. In the meantime, my only response to his remarks is this: Whatever he says, Ahmadinejad can't change the fact that we exist."

Middle east homosexuality is alive and well. Perhaps the most flaming gay man was Arafat, who wrapped his marxism and pedafilia in religiousity and pious crys for liberation. He was perhaps the biggest fraud of them all. Recently I re-read The Haj by Leon Uris. It was a timely reminder of some of the background leading to the current push and pull going on in the middle east. Sometimes a novel is a good way to get educated. Tolstoy used to say that if you wanted to learn the truth, read fiction….the book by Uris contains lots and lots of references to the insanity of muslim sexuality, hypocrisy around sex, and the double standards that exist for men and women. I loved the character Nada in the book, the female protagonist. She was such a heroic figure, caught in a maze of cultural insanity around sexuality and what it means to be a female.
It is a compelling story at this juncture in our worlds history.
