Amy Barnes Frey for Boulder County Commissioner 2008

I am getting more involved in our local political scene.
A few weeks ago I went to our local Caucus.
I was nominated to be a Boulder County Delegate to our county assembly. I organized a car pool to the assembly on March 8th, and was able to drive with Amy Barnes Frey to the event.
We had a wonderful chat in the car on the way to Longmont, and then talked for quite a while at the assembly. As we talked I had the sense that Amy would be an excellent Republican Politician. I asked her if she thought of running for local office and she said yes, she had thought about it. When it became apparent that no repulican was running for County Commissioner in our district, I leaned over and asked her if she was interested in being nominated. She said yes, and so I went to the microphone and nominated her for this elected position, which is a paid full time job in our county, and a four year term.
The past few weeks since her nomination we have been in email and phone contact and I offered to be her campaign manager. For the past week we have been getting organized, setting up her blog, writing the platform for her campaign, and organizing a plan of action.
I am really excited about the skills and passion Amy brings with her to this endeavor. I think she will do an excellent job at this post. Boulder County is a one party county as they told us at the Assembly, and that party would be Democratic in nature, so we have an uphill battle in this campaign, but I am very optimistic about her chances to win this office. We have a long tradition of Boulder Republicans not even bothering to run for office because the numbers are so one sided.
At the Assembly I was able to meet Katie Witt who is running for the State Senate Seat for our County. Here is a link to her web site. I think she will do an excellent job as state senator.
I was also able to hear a speech from Bob Shaffers wife Maureen at the Assembly, and I was so impressed with her and what she had to say about his political integrity. Here is a link to his web site.
We have some very dynamic and intelligent people involved in our local Republican Political Scene and it was fun to meet them in person and see how the whole electoral process works.
My role in Amys campaign is to work as her Blog Mistress and do anything I can to get the word out. If you are a local coloradoan, please feel free to contact me for more information about her.
