True Lives
An abortion survivor takes on Barack Obama.

An NRO Q&A
Barack Obama, meet your nightmare? On Monday night, BornAliveTruth.org, a new 527 released an ad starring Gianna Jessen, a 31-year-old woman who survived a saline abortion.

“I’m a survivor, as are many others . . . but if Barack Obama had his way, I wouldn’t be here,” Jessen says in the ad. “Four times, Barack Obama voted to oppose a law to protect babies left to die after a failed abortion. Senator Obama, please support born alive infant protections. I’m living proof these babies have a right to live.”

…Lopez: What do you make of Sarah Palin?
Stanek: Sarah Palin offers such a contrast to Obama on this issue. She carried her Down Syndrome baby to term despite a medical recommendation otherwise and declared him “perfect” at birth. Obama heard testimony three years running of at least one baby with Down Syndrome who was set to languish alone in a soiled utility room to die, and that was acceptable to him — Culture of Life vs. the Culture of Death in a nutshell.

This is the only one of my five births that we caught on video. It is difficult for me to imagine a mother being willing to allow her child to be induced and then just left to sit alone and die in some corner of the hospital after a botched abortion. I have serious issues with Obamas Socialism and his other big government plans that will ruin our economy and run our society into the ground socially, but the biggest issue I have with him being our president is the FACT that he has been a promoter of infanticide for those children who happen to be born alive after an abortion. The following interview is damning information and should be seriously considered by all of the voting public.
As a rape survivor, I am supportive of women having the option to a very early abortion if they become pregnant after Rape or Incest, and if the life of the mother is in jeprody and she feels she can live with herself by allowing her child to be aborted, I am supportive of her having that choice, but this infanticide side of abortion goes so far beyond those options for mothers that I have to just stand up and YELL, THIS IS WRONG!!!!
I am troubled by Mr. Obamas unwillingness to own his past votes and I am completely dismayed that he continues to believe partial birth abortions are somthing that should be legislated and fought for at the state and national level of our government.
One of the main reasons that I evolved to unassisted childbirth is because I was friends with a nurse at our local Boulder Hospital and she told me that she was being forced to asist with abortions at the Boulder Abortion Clinic where the partial Birth Abortion was pioneered.
She eventually quit her job as it absolutely violated every principle of life she held dear to be involved in the murders of little babes.
When I became informed about this issue, I decided that I did not want any medical professional who had assisted with an abortion touching me or my children when they were born. I did not want the first hands that touched my child to be the hands of an abortionist. It felt right to give birth to my last two babes at home alone, with just my sweet husbands hands the first to touch.
Since this blog and all of my online work is devoted to the babies who will be born in future generations and since I am all about life, I could never in a million years endorse or support Barack Obama for president. The culture of death would be given a jolt of electricity and power as supreme court judges and federal judges would be appointed who would take all bans off of the killing of the unborn. And with socialized medicine, it would be my tax dollars that would help pay for these abominations.

Palin in Colorado yesterday!

One of my Freeper friends asked if I wanted to go to the Sarah Palin Rally in Golden colorado yesterday to Freep the Woman against Palin fems who were going to demonstrate against her. I told him I was too busy with my mommy duties, but was thrilled to see this pictoral of the rally at Free Republic this morning!
Here are a couple of the pictures from the thread:

Funny Story:
I don’t usually read our local paper The Daily Camera (the daily comrade) because it is so notoriously leftist. But yesterday I was waiting at the bus stop and decided to waste my fifty cents and buy a copy. I like to listen to leftist talk radio, read democratic web sites, and occasionally read the liberal papers when it is election time simply because I like to see what they are saying about everything.
Anyway, I noticed this story highlighted on PAGE ONE of our local paper:

“Sunday, like-minded women gathered at Wolf’s north Boulder home to make protest signs.

“Palin doesn’t speak for us,” said Madeline Cohen. “I don’t think she understands the real pressures facing working families. She’s out of touch. She would take us back to the ’50s.”

She also said Palin, the governor of Alaska, doesn’t enough experience to take over in the event of Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s death.

Karin Susskind, who was a Hillary Clinton supporter, added that Palin isn’t a Hillary substitute.

“They’re diametrically opposed,” she said.

She’s unhappy with Palin’s stance on affordable health care and her energy plan. For the sake of her 10-month-old son, she said, the country needs leaders who can create “a sustainable future.”

I would like to know which country in our worlds history was able to maintain a “sustainable” future using collectivism as the political ideology. So funny and pathetic.
Anyway, I read that article claiming that a hundred women were going to attend the rally to counter palin, and as stated above was asked to attend to counter them with some Freeper friends.
Then I noticed this article today on the Daily Comrade Web Site:
Palin draws crowd of 6,000
The local newspapers have a notoriously bad history of counting crowds. So we can safely say at least 6,000 conservatives attended the Palin rally….
By paragraph six of the article anti Palin Hecklers in the crowd were mentioned…and paragraphs 7,8, and 9 were devoted to the “hundreds” of protestors:

“hundreds of protesters lined the streets of stalled traffic, waving anti-Palin and McCain sentiments”

Westword took pictures of the protestor… and we can safely say they numbered about one.

Or, maybe as the Westword reporter said: A Few dozen….
Funny thing is, The Daily Camera did not have any photos of anyone on their web site this morning, except Sarah Palin giving her speech.
Something that the left needs to remember about this rally is that it took place on a monday morning when most people are at work and school, and busy moms can’t get away from home. If the McCain people will organize a rally at the biggest venue in Colorado and take a few days to get the word out, I think the world would be stunned to know how many passionate Colorado women would attend a Palin Rally.
But that remains to be seen. As for the Camera…I think the reporter forgot to take his lens cap off his CAMERA before taking pictures…either that or they sent an intern.

Meridian Mag: Maurine Jensen Proctor: The Presidential Candidates and Family Values. Where do they stand?

Where do they stand?
The Family Research Council has researched both candidates extensively, including their comments, their former votes and news reports to compile a voter scorecard on where John McCain and Barack Obama stand on family issues. It is a highly-detailed voter guide that drills down “on the issues important to the family so as to discover not only a candidate’s position, but the depth of that position.” Footnotes and reference guides are given for further reading.
This scorecard certainly does not claim to cover every family issue, but does look at many of the ones that are or will be considered by the government. Though, in this scorecard, questions about poverty are not directly asked, by far the most significant influence on whether a child will grow up in poverty is his or her family structure. Children who grow up in intact families with married fathers and mothers are much less likely to experience poverty.

Mercola: What’s so BAD about Tofu?

Have you switched to soy milk and veggie burgers because you’ve been told they are better for you?
Have you heard that people in Asian cultures live longer than Americans because they eat more soy?
If you believe soy is a healthy alternative to dairy and meat products, then you’ve got a lot of company. Millions of Americans believe they are making a healthy choice by opting for soy milk and other soy-based products.
But consuming soy may be more harmful than healthy.
In this month’s Inner Circle interview, you’ll discover the truth about soy, the mistaken health food. Uncover what’s fact and what’s fiction — so you can make more informed and nutritional eating decisions.
Dr. Kaayla Daniel, an expert on soy and nutritional health, delves into how much soy in your diet is too much, what forms of soy are healthy (and which are not), and how best to add soy to your diet for your best health yet.
Dr. Daniel is the author of The Whole Soy Story: The Dark Side of America’s Favorite Health Food. Her nutritional training and expertise includes digestive disorders, and uncovering problems associated with soy-based diets.
Dr. Daniel has appeared on such notable mediums as NPR’s People’s Pharmacy and Discovery Channel’s Medical Hotseat. She has been quoted in major publications such as the Washington Post, Oxygen, London Observer and the San Francisco Chronicle.
In 2005, she was honored with the Weston A. Price Foundation’s Integrity in Science Award.
Soy Alert!
During my vegan years I ate so much soy food. I fed it to my family in huge quantities; soy milk, tofu, textured vegetable protein TVP (Which I used in copious amounts as a meat alternative in my cooking), and was always whipping up soy milk shakes and adding in huge globs of powdered soy protein.
When I began to transition back to traditional foods after the birth of my son Andy in 1996, I marvel that we spent so much money on Soy. Literally eating it three times a day in one form or another.
I don’t know what sort of a lasting impact this will have on my health or my children’s health. All I know is that eating meat, milk, and eggs these past ten or so years has felt right for my body. I do hope someday to get back to a more raw diet, but while I am still in my child bearing years, we will continue to eat a grain based diet greatly enhanced by animal proteins and Fats. My teens just crave high protein foods, and chow down all of the roasts, stews, and casseroles I create every day.
Nutrient Dense foods make sense to me at a time when my childrens bodies are developing and growing so quickly.

NRO: The Alinsky Ticket

John J. Pitney Jr.

Radical activist Saul Alinsky has had quite a season, especially for somebody who has been dead for 36 years. The two Democratic finalists had Alinsky links. Hillary Clinton wrote her 1969 senior thesis on his work, and she impressed him so much that he offered her a job. (She declined.) Obama spent his early Chicago years working for Alinsky disciples.

But the candidates who have most effectively applied Alinsky principles are John McCain and Sarah Palin. In Rules for Radicals (1971), Alinsky offered specific ideas for political and social action. Several seem to underlie the GOP campaign plan.

Never go outside the experience of your people. Grassroots Republicans love Palin. They see her as a more gifted version of people they know from PTA meetings, small-group Bible studies, Communion breakfasts, and yes, hockey games. Her perspective is different from that of other national politicians. For Barack Obama, Wal-Mart is a symbol of worker exploitation. For Hillary Clinton, it’s a former source of corporate-director fees. For Sarah Palin, it’s a place where you buy stuff.

Wherever possible, go outside of the experience of the enemy. During his political career, Obama has never had a serious Republican opponent, and Biden hasn’t had a tough general election since 1972. Effective attacks from the right are new to them.

On this point, conservatives and Republicans also have a structural advantage. As David Brooks wrote after the 1994 election, conservatives know about liberalism from popular culture and the mainstream media. “But many liberals, it transpires, have only the haziest phantasms about conservatism, having only read each other’s descriptions of it.” That observation remains true, even after a GOP Congress and presidency. Recall liberal befuddlement when Bristol Palin’s pregnancy didn’t cause Republicans to burn her mother at the stake.

In the past few years, many Democratic strategists have studied George Lakoff’s laughable analysis of political thought, Don’t Think of An Elephant! According to Lakoff, at the core of Republican philosophy is the template of the “stern father.”

What will they do with the “stern father” theory now that the GOP’s most exciting leader is a cheerful mother?

….Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage. During the summer, the McCain campaign rattled Obama with YouTube videos mocking him as a celebrity and “The One.” The barbs in Palin’s acceptance speech left Obama supporters sputtering.

Obama has reacted by adopting even harsher rhetoric, thereby undercutting his promise of a “new tone.” His campaign has also proved that it is clumsy with humor,” running an ad saying that McCain “can’t send an e-mail.” It turns out that McCain has difficulty using a keyboard because of the injuries he sustained as a Vietnam POW. So with a lame joke, the Obama campaign renewed attention to McCain’s heroism.

“A good tactic is one that your people enjoy,” said Alinsky, and Republicans have been having a great time lately. But they must beware irrational exuberance. With a shaky economy, protracted war, and unpopular president, the GOP still faces a tough slog. And although Alinsky’s tactics may be energizing, Republicans should remember that he did not always win. As he taught in Rules for Radicals, the targets often find ways of adapting and fighting back.

But for the moment, at least, Republicans can revel in an irony: their ticket has gained ground by following advice from the ultimate community organizer.”
