The Path to 9/11–A Postmortem
As usual, Victor Davis Hansen nails the issues brought up by the movie, the Path to 911. Both nights I turned it on late and had multitudinous interuptions from my children while I tried to watch, but I was able to get the gist of the movie, and I think ABC did a good job, perhaps they did not go far enough in exposing the “clinton lobbed a bomb every time Monica was going to testify” line of thought, but Mr. Hansen has it right when he said the true test of this movie will be the terrorists response to it. When you have Bin Laden himself quoting Farenheit 9-11 in a fatwa movie on the internet, I think we can safely assume unfair propaganda is the way to a terrorists heart. <a
The BBC was a little angry about the movie, or at least the fact that they aired the movie without watching it first.
“A BBC spokesman said the organisation did not vet film-makers on their political or religious beliefs.”
Why would they have to? Everyone assumes that if a movie is coming out about a historical event that happened in America that it will most likely be liberal and bash republicans, re-write history, and not even bother to make sure the facts are straight.
I think the response from the BBC is the telling part. So if they knew it was going to be factual and put the blame where it belongs that THEY WOULD NOT HAVE AIRED IT??? That is what I infer from the article in the guardian.
Chat at Free Republic about the column
Funny thing about this life. On the judgement day we won’t have Hollywood, the news, or a vast array of lawyers, pundits, professors, or writers to cover our lives. History as we know it is going to be completely exposed.
The 6000 years of this earth life are going to be laid bare for all to see, and the Master of the Universe, Our Heavenly Father, is going to judge us, not only for our deeds, but also for the intents of our hearts, and there will be no mistakes, no gaffs, no one paid off to rewrite the 70 or so years we all have on earth to make or break this probationary time. Legalism as we know it simply won’t exist. All of our lives will be out in the open for everyone to see, and our Father will judge perfectly, fairly, and justice will THEN be served.
I don’t know about you, but for me, that fact brings great comfort to my heart. That even when justice is completely frustrated and overwhelmed….in the end, it will happen and all of us will then get our just rewards. I would really urge Bill Clinton to take some personal responsibility for his pathetic existence and repent of his sins before he goes to meet his maker.

American Hiroshima…..Take Two

Last night I drove down to DIA to pick up my husband who had been traveling for work. As I drove I listened to AM radio. I flipped around between Dr. Laura, Air America (which I occasionally listen to for the humor factor), and Savage Nation. Michael Savage, who seemed just a little bit on the edge last night, had a guest on discussing, once again, Suitcase Nukes and American Hiroshima.
Since I have written at length about nuclear survival in the past on my blog and in various locations on the web, I thought I would once again share links, quotes from Bloggers, and a few articles on the web that showed up this week talking about a Ramadan Attack by Bin Laden.
From the article I wrote for newsmax after 9-11:
“Fear often is a life-saving emotion. When we believe death is close at hand, fear can increase our ability to work harder and longer, driven by fear, we can accomplish feats that would be impossible otherwise. Trembling hands, weak legs, and cold sweat do not mean that a person has become ineffective. Doing hard necessary work is one of the best ways to keep one’s fears under control.
“If the danger is unexpected enough or great enough, normal persons sometimes experience terror as well as fear. Terror prevents the mind from evaluating dangers and thinking logically. It develops in two stages. …
“The first stage is apathy: people become indifferent to their own safety and are unable even to try to save themselves or their families. The second stage is a compulsion to flee. … Persons who learn to understand the nature of our inherent human traits and behavior and symptoms are less likely to become terrorized and ineffective in the event of a nuclear attack.” (Cresson H. Kearny, “Nuclear War Survival Skills”)
I learned many practical skills from Dr. Kearny’s book, which he has graciously published online for anyone to read for free. This book helped me to understand the myths versus the facts of a nuclear attack, and our family has purchased the supplies he recommends to survive a nuclear incident in our own little home.
If we give in to terror and become apathetic or attempt to flee our homes, it is these very actions which will cause more death and disease than the actual bombings.
Imagine if every person in America had a two-week supply of food, water and supplies to survive a nuclear blast. Those at ground zero would certainly lose their lives, but the authorities could focus on the needs of people in the locales around the blast site, while the rest of America confidently took care of itself.
Please move beyond terror in your own mind and let a little fear motivate you to buy the things necessary and master the skills needed for surviving a nuclear incident.
One person at a time, we can win the war on terror using our wits and remembering the legacy of our patriot ancestors, who sacrificed so much to provide us with freedom.
If you will take personal responsibility for your own safety rather than depending on others, you will be one less person or family the authorities have to worry about during an attack.”
What concerned me the most listening to Michael Savage rant on the radio last night was his claim that the government would use a nuke attack to grab everyones guns, and that it would take decades to recover and all modern society would immediately cease to exist – investments worthless etc… I thought to myself, “perhaps if Clinton were still president we would have the government gestape grabbing the guns, but I don’t see the Bush administration doing that.” No, what I see is that IF Al Qaeda is able to set off some suitcase nukes in America during Ramadan this year, even if all seven that Savage was talking about are set off, certainly the people in those seven locations would die, and in the areas around those cities, some panic and need for martial law would be needed. But to say the whole country would be brought to it’s collective knees??? I just don’t see that happening.
I believe everyone would feel like it was the end of the world, and for a time, perhaps a couple of weeks, terror would rule the day. But after a month or so, I see us picking ourselves up and going on with life much as it is today. Just with a firmer resolve to win the war on terror.

TERRORISM: ‘AL-QAEDA’S MR. NUCLEAR TO HEAD FRESH ATTACK ON U.S.
QUOTE:
Dubai, 12 Sept. (AKI) – “Osama bin Laden is planning to carry out new, more destructive attacks inside the United States, and there is someone working on this terror plot currently in the US, according to Hamid Mir, the famed Pakistani journalist who obtained the only post-9/11 interviews with Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri. In an interview quoted on the website of the al-Arabiya television network, Mir spoke about his last trip to Afghanistan and his meeting with al-Qaeda members and Taliban leaders.”
al-Qaeda And The Nuclear Threat
“Meanwhile, Shukrijumah continues to cause many a sleepless night.
Special Agent Andrew Lenzen, the lead case agent and a veteran of the FBI’s Miami counterterrorism squad, has amassed an encyclopedic knowledge of Shukrijumah’s actions and personality quirks. He has even compiled a timeline of his life, beginning with the day he was born.
“I know him almost like his mother,” said Lenzen. “I’ve lived, slept and dreamed him for the past three years.”
There’s been a recent alert in Trinidad / Guyana for an al-Qaeda operative linked to a possible Dirty Bomb attack in the US to coincide with Ramadan, which I believe begins September 24th.”
Blogger David Zincavage:
“In an interview with Al.Arabiya.net, reported by Aki today, Hamid Mir said that on a recent trip to Afghanistan he heard Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters speaking of an imminent attack on the United States “larger than 11 September 2001 attacks.”
Al Qaeda is reported to have enough material for six dirty bombs already in the United States.
Three suitcase nuclear bombs are said to have been smuggled from Russia into Europe.”
Here are some previous links from my Blog talking about Nuclear Survival, and if you will click on the Catagory, Prep for Nuclear War, I have some other posts that talk about a couple of key things you can do to prepare. Just remember, the most important supply to have in your home is some water. And everyone who has a hot water heater already has 40 gallons of clean water to use for drinking. If you will just stay in your own home for two weeks while the radiation disperses, you can protect yourself and your family from fallout dangers.
In some of these posts, I refer to a bomb shelter that my boys and I built in the basement in the summer of 2005. It has since been taken apart and the materials used for other purposes because we finished our basement. If an attack were to occur, we would simply stay in our basement where our water supply and 72 hour kits and food storage are located.

Now I have no doubt the Blogosphere and even the main stream press is going to go nuts these next two weeks before Ramadan talking about nuclear dirty bombs. And I know that you mothers who read this blog may get a little freaked out by all the talk. Just remember this, if you will right now put in a two week supply of drinking water (just go to Sam’s Club and purchase a couple cases of water bottles), and have a two week supply of food that you do not need to cook – chunky soups, power bars, etc…canned fruit, tuna, whatever your family likes. If you will do those two things, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE TERRORIZED BY THIS THREAT!!!
And, for those of you who would like to be even more prepared: If you would purchase some potassium Iodide for your whole family, and maybe get a Portable Radiation Detector to put on your key chain to determine radiation levels, I would think that would be enough to survive any attack.

Granted those who live at ground zero will most certainly lose their lives, or be seriously injured. But a line from Brave Heart comes to mind when thinking about that. “all men die, but not all men truly live” If we are going to live free from terror, we MUST go on with life absolutely fearless of what the future will bring. If we cave to terror in our own minds, we have already lost the war.
I’m not afraid. Since I was a teen I have been preparing emotionally, physically, and spiritually for the possibility of nuclear war. If it happens we will deal with it. But I am not going to let these next two weeks paralyze me and keep me from living a full and satisfying life every day.

Chertoff on nuclear terror: Keep it over there
Brahms Requiem Performance – 9-11 Memorial
The Broomfield Choral Festivals performance of the Brahms Requiem was yesterday. It was such an amazing experience to participate in this grand work of musical magic! Here are some photos and video clips.

Here is a picture of me just before we warmed up in the chapel.

My children, Michelle, Allison, Jeffrey, and Andrew passed out programs for the concert.

My dear friend Esther, (who is a master whole wheat bread baker), came to listen to the concert.
Michelle captured a couple of 30 second video clips of the concert on her camera. Click on the image to listen!

I went up to Ron after the performance and snapped this shot of us together, only catching half of my head in the photo. Mike Williams, President of the Choral Festival (who also serves as Stake President of the Boulder Colorado Stake of The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) was in the picture. The happiness of this moment really comes through clear. We were all so pleased with the final outcome!
Here is another Video Clip of the Performance!

Here is a picture of me with my children after the concert.

My dear friend Kent came to see the performance. He is the organist of the Colorado Mormon Chorale and a member of my ward. Recently he accompanied me as I sang the solo A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief in our wards Sacrament Meeting. Kent is an accomplished and credentialed organist in the Denver/Boulder area. It was fun to have him in the audience!
In this final video clip you can see me standing in the upper left corner of the choir. This clip was my favorite. Joy and Delight! Here is the Blog entry I wrote about the Requiem a couple of weeks ago.
This requiem was a follow up to last years version of the Mozart Requiem, which the Festival performed in memory of 9-11. With the fifth year anniversary today, the festival chose the Brahms Requiem to share with our community to commemorate the slaughter that took place on 9-11. The festival president said these great works were written for those who were sorrowful after the death of loved ones. I suppose as Americans we all feel sadness and grief remembering that terrible day.
I will always remember what I was doing on that day.
We had kept the children home from school that morning because we had planned to go to the airport to visit my sister Emily on a stopover at DIA. Emily was traveling from Utah to Italy. She had spent two months in the Missionary Training Center, and was now on her way to Italy to serve a mission for the church we attend.
We had a quiet morning of breakfast, scripture reading, prayers, and I had prepared a picnic lunch to take with us to share with Emily during her two hour layover. We never listen to the news or the radio in the morning, so we were absolutely clueless until we reached the airport. Just as we were pulling up to Denver International Airport, dozens of policemen were outside putting up barricades to the entryway of the airport. Paul rolled down the window of our car and asked one of the policemen what was going on. He said “the airport is shutting down until we figure out who bombed us”.
Paul and I just looked at each other, and then he turned on the radio. As we drove towards the children’s school we listened to the radio. We dropped the older children off at school, and then I went home to spend the whole day listening to Fox News and trying to locate my sister. Her plane was in the air during the attack, but they grounded it before she reached Denver. She was fine, and eventually made it to Italy to serve an honorable mission, but it was a very worrisome experience for me.
The next day I kept all four children at home and we spent the day updating our 72 hour kits, which had not been touched since 1999. It helped us to have something proactive to do, rather than melting down into terrorized inactivity and apathy.
I did not lose anyone I knew personally on 9-11, but Barbara Olsen had been one of my favorite television conservative commentators, and she died in the plane that hit the pentagon.
I’d like to dedicate this post to all of the families and friends of those who died on 9-11 and also to all of the babies that will be born in the weeks, months, and years ahead. May they be gently welcomed into a world that is eager to raise them in the most natural, holistic, peaceful way possible. A couple years ago I threw out the idea that a terrorist comes from a womb that has been terrorized during pregnancy. When mothers are beaten, neglected, impoverished, starved, and live a life so filled with misery that they kill their daughters to save them from living a similar life, we can almost be certain terrorists are being formed in those wombs.
When the women of the world are ALL cherished, properly nourished, and babies are born gently and holistically, then we will start to experience the eternal millennial peace that the Prophet Isaiah promised is the future for our world. Zion is just around the corner, we just have to believe it, keep the faith, and come with singing and rejoicing unto ZION!

Busy Day

Today I taught my Provident Living class. Three ladies attended and we had a wonderful time talking about wheat cooking and the skills that make one more self sufficient.
I always love it when a new mother comes to the class and today a dear friend came with her baby. She was so excited to learn about whole foods cooking and told me the class made it feel more do-able.
I felt the spirit strong when I talked to the women about Unassisted Childbirth. I made the decision long ago to discuss Self Sufficient Childbirth any time I get the chance to teach a class or give a talk about Provident Living. It is always nice to feel the Holy Spirit witnessing to those I teach when that topic comes up. It is truly the essence of my work on the internet and every time the spirit washes over a class when the topic comes up, I feel re-validated in the passion, urgency, and desire to share the good news of husband/wife childbirth with anyone who will listen. I think of it as planting seeds that hopefully will come to fruition at some point down the road in the lives of the families I share this good information with.
For so many families just hearing that couples are intentionally giving birth alone is motivating and empowering.

The Broomfield Choral Festival also had a dress rehearsal for the Brahms Requiem this afternoon. It sounds so good with the full orchestra accompanying. I’m excited to participate in the performance tomorow! The professional soprano soloist who was hired to sing movement 5 was amazing, and I was grateful not to have the pressure to sing that solo as we rehearsed.
After this performance I anticipate that our lives will settle down somewhat into a routine of school and church activity. Paul and I went to the first rehearsal for the Colorado Repertory Singers last thursday. We are performing the Messiah on December 2nd. This will be the first time we sing the whole piece, although we both have performed portions of it numerous times.
It is late and I need to get to bed…so g’night…

Mitt vs. the Mullahs
Mitt vs. the Mullahs
I will be voting for Mitt Romney in all elections in the coming years…

“NEXT WEEK, MITT ROMNEY WILL DO WHAT THE STATE DEPARTMENT should have done months ago: declare former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami persona non grata on American soil.” …
“In all, Romney – the political scion with matinee idol good-looks, affability, and charisma – has compiled a record enviable for any candidate potentially running for president in an election cycle dominated by the War on Terrorism. His refusal to aid Khatami is but one more example.”
